So, if someone wants to view the video vertically, they can… if someone wants to watch the video horizontally or with VR/AR goggles, they can… or if someone wants to turn their monitor diagonally, they can! Although, it seems 360° live-streaming might already be a thing on RUclips. I'm not sure. The problem is that RUclips is creating factions in their audience. I generally don't watch RUclips Shorts because it's more like candy than useful information. (Also, it seems silly to watch a vertical video on a large 16:9 TV.) Instead of improving the way regular live videos work on RUclips, this creates more division. Improving the way to find livestreams seems like a better use of RUclips's developer resources. I was recently surprised to discover that I could watch live news from NYC… but there was less than 200 viewers on the live stream. That's something like Aereo… but hidden on RUclips. If a professional news organization gets such a small amount of concurrent viewers, why would I livestream… either in landscape or portrait?! I don't! I ran a community poll and 80% voted AGAINST live-streaming. 🙀

Vertical Live in the Shorts Feed won't push my channel to my subscribers or any new people in the past two days may I ask why it's happening? Did something change?

Lots of viewers are complaining about the chat disappearing and having to reconnect. We'd peak at like 1,300 viewers, the bug would happen, and then we'd drop to about 400. Can this be looked into?
I stream PokemonGo gameplay so vertical streaming on RUclips is not new to me, I have been streaming vertically for over a year. But now, with the new changes made, chat is not separated from the live, and is almost impossible to read when the background isn't dark. This makes communication with the chat very difficult, same goes for moderatoring the chat. Very difficult. Please let us choose whether we want the chat separate or not. Or, at least, make the chat less transparent, when on screen, just like it was until now.

There needs to be further collaboration to allow the vertical video of gopro to stream to YT. Even in portrait orientation, with it showing as the live feed on the gopro app it sends to YT as a landscape format. I think it would more useful to make regular streams more visible. Better search for streams specifically, better browse for streams, and a separate recommendation section that ONLY recommends streams for people who only want to watch streams.
Yes precisely... went live not knowing this was a new default setting. Ruined my life. I agree that lives competing with produced videos is certainly a difficulty on one's feed.

I have a suggestion: Can you please integrate RUclips Vertical streams to Creator studio? Because I'm certain they will follow a base audience similar to Shorts, so I'm thinking making a portrait stream on regular YT Live now wouldn't be helping.
Yes! I just discovered it last night. I have been recording in obs with the vertical aitum plugin, I got curious and set up the stream via aitum and it worked! I was concerned it would just be a vertical stream within a regular horizontal stream but it worked just as they said in this video.
I don't think Shorts need culled, but I absolutely agree that long form video is what RUclips is for. They're wasting resources and screwing over a lot of creators - they'll never beat Tiktok at being Tiktok anyway.

"No ad revenue attached to this yet"... hmmm. Last month was the first time in over 12 years I didn't meet the $100 threshold for a payment, so I won't be jumping in anytime soon.
This looks like a feature thats good for mobiles but bad for watching on anything else like TVs.
Hi thank you for this video🙏🏽 , for some reason my shorts feed has no live feed , how can I fix it does anyone knows ? Is there a setting to turn it on ? I need help please
I don't understand the push for vertical content.
The dumbing down of society.
I think it would more useful to make regular streams more visible. Better search for streams specifically, better browse for streams, and a separate recommendation section that ONLY recommends streams for people who only want to watch streams.
Different than ruclips.net/user/live ?
Yes precisely... went live not knowing this was a new default setting. Ruined my life.
I agree that lives competing with produced videos is certainly a difficulty on one's feed.
I vote it counts toward watch hours
does watch time got from vertical live stream count towards monetization? can anyone please reply
Any chance we'll get "Go Live Together" on desktop any time?
So when can we start using it
Now!
@@DougHewsonYT have you tried it?
@@ANYTINGGOESPODCAST yes
@@DougHewsonYT you notice any differences?
@@ANYTINGGOESPODCAST a slightly different layout for the viewer compared with a regular (horizontal) live stream on a watch page.
Hey 👋 Is it possible to and how would I go live to RUclips horizontally and vertically together at the same time? Is there a separate stream key that can be used to put in for the vertical live stream? For example putting the stream key into OBS Studio. And where would you obtain the vertical live stream key from?
Yeah and it's funny he actually asked this question and it wasn't answered! xD
Like some others. I'm curious if the watch hours for a vertical Live are counted with overall hours.
They are
This is even more exciting news then! @@benpolt2344
Sucks cause as a moderator when I post links they don't work. It's terrible!
It’s really confusing on how to get to the lives in shorts feed. I just learned this week how to see them outside of the randomly popping up in shorts feed.
I (and probably many) wish RUclips would have never gone along with the vertical videos, not catering to the FB-IG short-zero attention spans. grrrrr
Do these count towards your watched hours?
Yes they do, they have just got me monetised!
I am facing some problems now on shorts live because on view of my live stream is published in RUclips feed but now it only publish on browser so can you tell me how can I fix this problem
Enough chitter chatter. Give premium members a free membership every month like Amazon does with twitch prime. 😝
😂
They done it the other way around. Streamer can give 10 membership under 5$ to the chat for free.
This feature isn't available every yet. Great idea!
What I've been saying since ages ago!!!
Now that Twitch is struggling, it is time to make that move!
Yes please!
How do I change the playback speed on a vertical live video on mobile. I can see how to do it on desktop but I can't find the button on the android ap..
why don't you put 16:9 streams in the shorts feed too? Tiktok does it and that's who you are copying here
Can I live stream on the same channel with vertical and traditional horizontal at the same time within RUclips Terms of Service?
I have a suggestion: Can you please integrate RUclips Vertical streams to Creator studio?
Because I'm certain they will follow a base audience similar to Shorts, so I'm thinking making a portrait stream on regular YT Live now wouldn't be helping.
I dont5grt it, con i go verticale with obs and my PC?
Yes! I just discovered it last night. I have been recording in obs with the vertical aitum plugin, I got curious and set up the stream via aitum and it worked! I was concerned it would just be a vertical stream within a regular horizontal stream but it worked just as they said in this video.
I scroll a ton of RUclips shorts on iOS mobile and I've never seen a LIVE show up..
Get rid of Shorts and make long form content the main experience again.
There's a huge demand for Shorts from viewers and creators, just like there was a huge demand for TV, not just movies. People like options!
I don't think Shorts need culled, but I absolutely agree that long form video is what RUclips is for. They're wasting resources and screwing over a lot of creators - they'll never beat Tiktok at being Tiktok anyway.
so something for the big people again. Please do more for us tiny tubers,
Can we please have the option to have our content shorts and longs together or separate its taking double the time to go between both pages to check scheduled content and gets seriously confusing when your trying to do a month or mixed content at a time,
Sadly most of the live vertical videos I have come across tend to be really boring. So I quickly swipe away. I haven't seen a vertical live feed that has interested me yet.
Going live on mobile is a good idea but I still prefer desktop as it is on bigger screen for me.
This is a great idea
Explaining vertical live streaming on a video done horizontal makes sense.
We are doing this right now!!! Thank you for this video! How can we talk to you?
Does it count towards watch time hours
Yes
Hi! Will RUclips consider a square stream format vertical since fewer 3-minute square clips are considered shorts?
How are watch hours counted for vertical streams? Are they ignored like with Shorts or do they count like they do for horizontal streams?
That’s what I’m wondering!
Good question.. I guess we'll see it reflected on the eligibility tracking
Live streams also go direct to your channel with a traditional watch page so I would say it’s all counted.
Non Short vertical videos over 60 seconds go towards watch time so I imagine live will too.
@@cuteek Non short verticals are treated like regular videos. Because these live streams will be shown in the shorts feed, it is not certain that these hours will contribute to watch hours.
"Your video has an unsupported aspect ratio" Could you look into adding support for non-standard aspect ratios such as those used in cinema and movies, so we can add end screen to our videos?
we need horizontal live with ability to Go Live Together, this is much needed, and I am not sure why did you all decide that people need vertical only!!!
So wait, if I go live with OBS in vertical, it'll show up in the shorts feed? If so how do we know if its working?
It’ll be out soon and you’ll start seeing it!
Yes, if you go live in a vertical aspect ratio from an encoder, it'll show up in the Shorts feed! You should be able to check on another device, or see your chat/viewers pop off?
@@RUclipsLiaison nice!
This is going to be fun 🎧💪
it does not appear Sherry and Rene were in the studio together when this was filmed?
It's almost like they seen how big tiktok live is getting and wanted a bit of that pie 😂 don't blame them 😂
I mean, I remember iJustine and Cali Lewis going live on Qik from the Nokia N95 back in... 2008?
@@RUclipsLiaison Cali Lewis wow that's a name from the past I remember watching her back In the day after I watched Steve Litchfields Nokia reviews.
Bingo!
Exactly! Compete with TikTok and allow a much easier entry for creators like them and get more content on RUclips! Basically make it a One Stop Shop. Can't blame them.
I hate watching live in vertical esp. gaming. How do i change it to horizontal live?
Hi can you separate the trending page in all categories. In Music, gaming etc... There should be a shorts trending and video trending for each category. With all the shorts that's on trending, I feel like videos lost it's value to be on the trending page.
Its okey in to send Superchat in vertical live??
Yes.
The vertical path is something that can see a little hard to walk thou at the begin, but to grow in vertical way is such more exciting in the horizontal way. hahaha I like this ideia!
Vertical live is so much better in controlling the mobile movement compared to horizontal live. Many of my audiences complained about my horizontal live espcially when I did it outdoors walking around. It's very shaky.
Meanwhile, on the mobile you can only do lives in vertical mode and not horizontal. This is simply ridiculous.
Now if only they'd make stream keys static....
Can we monetize vertical lives as well?
We answer that in the video - no ads yet but fan funding is available!
@@RUclipsLiaisonDo the watch time hours count?
when does this take effect i went through shorts today and didnt find any lives is this feature not on yet?
It is on. I just streamed vertical on the 02.19 and 02.20.24. I also do horizontal live streams!!
@@FaLO66traintravelsdid new people discover your live?

However, we do come to RUclips for a different experience than the other apps.
They just described TikTok Live for RUclips.
I have been doing Vertical mode Live for the past 2 weeks...and I see views coming from the Shorts feed.
What’s the time limit on vertical live now?
