It is a very good midrange phone, upgrading from what the F3 lacks however seeing that the F5 Series would increase its price it is quite sad that this might be the last best bang for the buck phone from Poco unless they introduce a Dimensity 8200 series to their F5 Series.
My hopes for the Poco F5 is that: 1. 64MP (maybe Sony sensor), triple camera setup. 2. Upgrade to ultrawide to at least 12MP. 3. Improved QC issues. I'll probably have to deal with the heft but I don't mind it being slightly expensive if they give better overall smartphone experience. I'm all for it being a true flagship killer.
@@Skinnypole_clara better replace 2MP Macro cam with: • 5MP Telemacro, a macro cam with auto-focus. I was able to use this from Mi 11. Very nice quality, can record macro videos as well, with fine quality 👍 • 13MP Telephoto. I was able to use this in Mi 9. It makes a difference in photo quality paired with a Sony IMX sensor. Even if you zoom there is no distortion in quality. To me, the depth sensor is mainly for bokeh effects in portrait shots. Most modern sensors are already capable of Bokeh / background blur using AI or even has much better background separation using AI Image processing. You can see this in Mi 12 series, no more depth sensors. I hope this clears things a bit.
I got this phone way back 3 months ago, I didn't wait for the F5 because that time I don't have phone to use and I badly need to buy one. Definitely satisfied with the phone, tho I don't like how the camera performs in some condition and it's expected because it didn't advertise as camera or photography focus phone.
The thing is, it has been 3-4 years (yeah, Snapdragon 870, an slightly overclocked 865 is now midrange performance standard), even Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is now on par with it. I was hoping that the use Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 on Poco F5, but they are gonna reserve it for more expensive Poco F6 GT/ Pro. maybe just stay with Poco F4 for now and wait for Poco F6 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1/ 8 Plus Gen 2 next year. Based on Redmo Note 12 turbo, Poco F5 it's just the same spec except the faster 120watt charging the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2.
The f5 pro is k60 which is 8+gen 1, 1440p and 5500mAh. Where do you get your information?? The 7+gen 2 mops the 870 and the the note 12 turbo also has a better screen, bigger battery, a headphone jack, thinner bezels, lighter build, more ram/storage, probably better speakers, new software with more updates, better thermals etc
I've been considering this phone but after 2 years with my F3, I feel like it's not worth the few saved bucks. Day to day use degraded so quick that every time I open my F3 now, I just get reminded of how good Mi 9T Pro was (my previous phone that died on me). This budget lineup was just that bad of an experience to me. From jitters on every app to the frequent ghost touches, I feel like the value it adds to my stress is way more than the few bucks saved. It feels worse because I used to be a Xiaomi fan and every time I needed a new something, I would always first check if xiaomi has that thing. TL;DR: I'm traumatized by these "budget" flagships especially the ones from xiaomi.
It's weird if you upgrade from poco f3 to f4, f4 is not upgrade that a must. F4 GT indeed a major upgrades. So if you plan to use kind of this performance and all round you should stick with f3
If you wanna go for an actual budget from Xiaomi, go for the T series like the mi9t that you had. Poco & Redmi are sub-brands and actually aren't on par with the actual Xiaomi (Mi) series especially in build quality.
