When he says Man chases money, he's referring to people who do nothing of note on this earth, but try and make themselves rich, this doesn't even have to mean money, he could be talking about all sorts of other hedonistic desires, but money is the image he decides to use here.
The very basic point is, that if you spend all your time chasing your gluttonous hedonistic desires, you'll find you have wasted your life and will only end up dead.
