Everything about that escape scene was so peak IMO. It had the full spectrum: the spirit unification, the crimson wings arrival, Blue Destination OST, and Olivert proving he’s still the debaucherous prince deep down. It was a whole rollercoaster lol

I love this section so much. One of my favorite in the entire series.
All the noble food available on the airship and Rean's preferred meal is a Filet o' Fish. Mad respect for that.
Bleublanc just casually explaining the Sky arc to Rean over drinks is something I woulda loved to see for real. His version of the story would have been wild.
Poor Duvalie. The only try hard in a group like Ouroboros. She is going to get bullied so much going forward...
Rean watching Altina sleep. Definitely doing his reputation no favors.
The Zephyr duo is great. Elise has one terrifyingly dangerous and overprotective older brother. Fie has two. Some fun shenanigans will definitely ensue there, especially if you pick Fie at the end of CS4...
McBurn giving the first hints as to what Rean's power actually is. Definitely something to remember for the future.
You can pretty much pinpoint the exact moment when Alfin goes from shipping Rean with Elise to shipping Rean with herself (and maybe Elise too). Estelle rescues herself, Lloyd rescues Garcia, but Rean managed to rescue a girl. True harem protag.
It's a shame Alfin doesn't have her weapon during this section. She might actually be the most powerful playable character in CS2 thanks to her absurdly busted crafts/S-Craft.
Spirit Unification is finally here! You might have gone with the tried and true S-Craft spam, but you'll soon learn to love Arcane Gale. It's his most powerful attack by far, especially considering how cheap it is. Considering it was one of Arios' most signature moves it definitely can't be bad.
It's amazing how simply adding Victor (and Olivert) to the roster makes the battle seem a lot more even then it was in Ymir. Nice to have a true powerhouse on our side for a change.

38:24 - Right around now I think Lloyd is traveling around Crossbell getting his teammates back together. Thematically it makes sense to have Rean's awakening in the mountains to be around the same time Lloyd breaks out of prison. Both protagonists are now working towards rallying their respective troupes.

This is still one of my favorite Rean moments. In a ship full monster level fighters that outclass him, dude was still brave and crazy enough to pull that stunt. That solidifies him as a badass protag in my eyes; unfortunately for him, this moment also solidified him as a pervert in Altina's eyes.

I had forgotten how much I loved Duvalie in this bit (and in rest of the game too). Just a perfect depiction of teenager with attitude and huge stick up her ass because she has been given bare minimum of responsibility. (Although I just checked and she is actually out of her teens, so her acting like a brat is maybe even funnier.)

4:28 i just love how weapon just making up dialogue as he goes lmao
13:15 holy aidios, i just realize. is that "i will remember you." in the background?
16:05 if you remember from a door in sky 3rd. it is mentioned that the arrow that kevin use on weissman are from the salt pale. 20 years ago, the salt pale suddenly appear on north ambria and make 60% of their land into salt and then the church take the salt pale, cut it with jet water, and make it into weapons.
23:22 in sky 3rd star door 14 (not the one with depression), when all the anguish meet, the fourth anguish said that the second anguish (vita) did not feel on on loewe dead and she says that he already got a new favorite one which is crow. and in CS 1 crow says that he already pilot ordine for 3 years. The timeline match.
24:03 the lore behind secondary contractor are explained further on CS 3 and 4.
32:35 well...there are tier in nobility. there are duke, marquiess, viscount, etc. with baron being the lowest and duke the highest.
38:37 no this is not after stargazer. it's still some times until stargazer, but duvalie got some other job to do in crossbell beside become a mid-boss
43:13 it will be explained later why duvalie is not an enforcer. the sthallritter is arianrhod idea

56:08 alfin: "time to NTR my best friend."

My reply contains MASSIVE spoilers for CS3 and CS4.... Weapon, don't click 'read more'
My head canon is that the Ironbloods are essentially secondary contractors to Ishmelga in CS4. I think it's a better explaination than "because Twilight buff." They're the only one's that can use dis-order, and once Ishmelga is gone, they can't use it anymore.
Like you said, it's never explicitly stated. I'll end by quoting a line from the 2nd Dominion - "This story relies on a modicum of speculation, please keep that in mind"

Tiers of nobility is literally correct. Barons (like Shwarzer) are the bottom. small lands, and they report to Viscounts. Barely noble, but still noble. Viscounts (like Arseid) oversee more land and several Barons, and report to Earls (yet to be named in these games, but some are coming). Earls oversee lots of land and trade, but report to Marquess. Marquess (like Hyarms) oversee entire counties, but report to Dukes (like Cayenne and Albarea). Dukes are the top of the nobility, reporting only to the King, they oversee entire 'mini countries' within the land, and direct the armies. All nobles can vote on national policy, but higher tier nobles votes have MUCH more weight then those below them, and they also have a lot of by-law direct control over those directly below them as well.

The Intermissions are always amazing, and this one is no exception. It really is like Estelle on the Glorious in Sky SC. Even though I prefer that game overall, I think this Intermission is actually better. You didn't get to casually explore and talk to all the villains in SC. It's one of my favourite things to do and I wish more games did it.
Wow, I have a lot to say. Probably last time I'll be this wordy:
Crow's backstory is really tragic... but... I just can't see him as anything more than a sympathetic villain after the things he did. Really wanting to kill Osborne is one thing, but he repeatedly showed he was willing to kill 1000s of innocent people to make this happen as part of the ILF's plans.
First encounter with the ILF was in the Nord Highlands. Where they tried to start a freaking war between Calvard and Erebonia, the two biggest nations on the continent, probably costing tens of thousands of lives, all so that Osborne would "let his guard down" so they could kill him more easily. (Hmm... using an innocent little settlement to start a war... Weissmann, anyone?)
Later, they tried to destroy Orchis Tower. Despite it having 6 world leaders on it and dozens of innocent staff. What would be the likely result of an Erebonian weapon killing all the world leaders in west Zemuria? Most likely, another continent-wide war. Possibly hundreds of thousands of deaths. Oh, and Towa was in that tower too. Crow's close friend. And he knew that.
And even after he does start a war (if a smaller one), he continues to fight for the oppressive side even after his goal's been achieved. And participates in the occupation of Thors. And tries to kill Class VII. Even if he wanted to "end the war peacefully" he could've joined the same side as Rean. With two Divine Knights on one side, they could end the war quickly. Ending the war by making sure the oppressive side is successful isn't really helping the people he feels he owes.
So yeah, I can understand his feelings, but... he's a bad guy, now and forever. He can't come back from the things he did.
5:25 Nobles like Cayenne are so spoilt, even when winning they complain about winning too slow. THIS IS WHY I CAN'T STAND NOBLES!
8:44 I wish Class VII could genuinely talk about getting Crow back in front of Captain Claire, so she could smack some sense into them, or turn them into a sheet of paper (we need that running joke back). As the first person who confronted him after shooting her boss, a man she admired, there’s no way she’d be on board with him returning.
28:10 But you don’t need to get any of the other girls back…
28:35 Vita doing the Sara wink.
32:25 She’s probably not used to the Noble system.
35:55 That’s pretty strong language by Rean’s standards.
43:15 The Grandmaster definitely sounds like a fantasy writer. Can’t be an Enforcer without a cool villain backstory!
44:00 Have to at least acknowledge Altina even if I can't say much more without spoilers. As you already know, she popular!
48:00 McBurn is pretty interesting. That’s all I’mma say on that.
49:55 I AM OBLIGED TO CALL OUT ANY INSTANCE OF THE PHRASE [Big Shot]!!! (Also wait, how do they know all this about Fie in Thors?? I guess Rean told them. He remembers her ranking?)
50:50 I thought we told you, Rean, jaegers don’t have “sworn” enemies. They fight and befriend based on pay.
54:20 Now non-mean Mean Rean anytime!
56:00 “Fighting nightmarish fire with you by my side” Iykyk
56:40 Alfin’s a higher level than Class VII throughout most of CSI! She’s been working out…
59:55 Gaster and Uboa in a nutshell.
1:01:18 XSeed already localised the entire game, Weapons. Isn’t that enough?
1:03:30 Didn’t notice this when I played through, but now that I think about it, them giving up immediately could also be a subtle little nod to how they’ve kinda lost their way now Osborne’s dead and have just stopped caring about things. Or maybe I’m overthinking it. But the others chased him.
1:03:40 We’re really going traditional storytelling here. The hero rescues the princess by scooping her into his arms and running from the evil fortress where she was imprisoned.
1:04:58 Never could quite work out what he was doing here…
1:06:57 Oh wow, they did that style of battle start here, too? This happens again in a very... interesting way later in the game. And when it comes... I think it'll be your favourite scene in the game. You're in for a treat!

    - I still haven't wrote the comment of the last episode, but now that I can tackle on these two episodes, this one especially will be fun.😁
Edit: and it's done! I gotta say, I outdone myself once again with this comment, I feel sorry for Weapons or the people reading these long ramblings, I hope whoever read this won't drown under this massive text.😅

    • @stratfor140
      @stratfor140 3 месяца назад

      - Let's start with the conversation with Cayenne and the other brasses, he's trying to convince Rean that their actions were justified because Osborne was using the trust the emperor has of him to misuse it and completely disregarding the nation's culture and traditions and treating it as if it was his, and he's not wrong about that, the guy was far from innocent and ruined people's lives for the sake of his reforms, resulting in the Imperial Liberation Front led by Crow, but now that's he gone, all that needs to be done is to end the war and restoring the peace so that Erebonia can return to its former glory: a land ruled by Nobles. Yeah, let's not pretend that he's all benevolent either, the Nobles started this because Osborne was taking away their privileges and gave more power to the Commoners, which is why they indirectly funded the ILF to go after him and were preparing this war for years via their taxes increases and siphoning iron from the mines for weapons like the Soldats and the Pentagruel, they're far from innocent either; but the most important factor that can Influence Rean for joining them is the fact that they're currently winning, even if he doesn't think them winning the war is ideal, it makes it easier to bring the war to a close, instead of fighting back from the other side and making the war drag on unnecessarily and causing more people to suffer; and Rufus makes a good point that the presence of Soldats on the battlefield makes a great difference, while having lesser offense and defense compared to tanks, their maneuverability and strategic possibilities makes them valuable assets that can revolutionize warfare if used correctly (if you want proof of that, just look at Xeno, Leo and other soldats destroying an entire armored divison during Heimdallr's occupation), it's just that the provincial army sucks at piloting them; but another factor even more important is the psychological one: seeing a giant humanoid metallic shape is supposed to break your will and making you want to give up, kinda like the AT-ATs of Star Wars, it's not just that they're tall, it's also because they have a form that we recognize, it's a great weapon to inspire fear, and that's even more true for literal beings of legends like the divine knights Rean and Crow have; so that's basically the proposal, if Rean joins the alliance, he can end the war quicker and returns to his academy life with Elise and Alfin returning to their peaceful days as well, and Rufus ask him to consider carefully the choice before him, every soldiers must decide for himself whether a cause is worth fighting and perhaps even dying for, he'll look forward to our answer, in the meantime we're escorted to a guest room.
      - The next day, Rean is still struggling to make a decision, and that's the moment that Crow chose to show up with grub to calm him down after he started teasing him, Rean's acting cold toward him and who could blame him after the betrayal last game, though as you noticed, Crow didn't really change much in terms of personality, proving that what he said at the end of the game to Class VII was just a way to try to sever tied with them by claiming that the Crow they knew wasn't real and never was; ngl the fish burger looks delicious honestly, even more so if it's made by Crow, and it was apparently a specialty of Jurai where he grew up. Funny you mention how Rean could've saw Crow and Claire's conversation, because that's actually a plot hole I think, Vita launched her Phantasmagoria spell AFTER that scene, so there's no way Rean should've been able to see them or hear what Claire said in that moment (it's possible Claire said it to Rean off-screen when she was with them in this game, but I highly doubt that). Jurai was also the place Group B went to while we were in Legram back in Chapter 5, which Crow was in, so ended up being back to his hometown by coincidence, it apparently changed quite a bit but it was nostalgic as well.
-And now, the million mira question: what did Crow do before joining Thors ? And why does he hate Chancellor Osborne so much, enough to join (or create in his case) a terrorist organization, he tries to deflect at first, but Rean is serious about this, though he warn him (and us as well) that his strory is nothing special, just a generic common and run-of-the-mill sob story before telling it.

    • @stratfor140
      @stratfor140 3 месяца назад

      - Alright, now that we're free to explore, I want to talk about the Intermission proper. Like you noticed, it looks similar to what happened to Estelle in Sky SC: the main protagonist gets captured by the antagonists and is taken into their flagship where they are proposed the opportunity of joining them, they are struggling to find an answer, until a conversation with a familiar face makes them open their eyes and reject the proposition, after which they make a getaway from the flagship with some help on the way out. Yeah, to say this sequence wasn't inspired by the other in Sky SC would be a lie (and the game is clearly aware of that, as it references the time when Estelle smashed a window to fool the guards with an active voice line during the escape I think); but in my opinion, they fleshed out this original idea into its logical conclusion; whereas Weissman wasn't serious about Estelle joining Ouroboros and he only brought her into the ship to avoid it being destroyed by Joshua, Cayenne sincerely want Rean to join him into the noble alliance; same for Estelle, even if she did consider it for a moment, she was never going to join Ouroboros for real, just pretending to be until she realized that it wouldn't be her style, for Rean, he's seriously thinking about it, because joining them could help with his objective: ending the war as soon as possible ; the sections itself are quite different as well, the Sky SC one was much shorter and made up the third part of Chapter 6 after the aftermath of Bose, the vacation at the inn, and the infiltration of the secret base, here, they dedicate an entire segment to it, albeit shorter than the rest of the game but still; and finally, the best part of it; while Estelle, aside from when Weissman make his proposal where every enforcers we present, only really interacted with Loewe and Renne briefly during her imprisonment, and the latter wasn't exactly that friendly, Rean gets to talk with nearly every antagonists in the game and having a small chat with them, the game takes advantage of the fact that Rean is at a crossroads to make you interact with the villains, and it only gives plenty of good information since they talk about stuff they normally wouldn't do in a regular situation, but also help you see another facet of their personalities, which can change your perspective of them; let's talk about that next shall we ?
      - For Vulcan, they're talking about the Inner workings of the ILF, nearly all of their members left after they fulfilled their objective, which was of course to kill the Chancellor; only around ten of them stayed, probably for the same reasons as Crow, to see this through to the end, but we can't exactly blame the others for quitting instead of a fighting in a war, for Vulcan, he doesn't really care how the war will go, he's a former Jaeger after all, he always lived for this kind of shit, and on the side he's helping teach the provincial army to pilot Soldats (which I'm pretty sure would go exactly like Zephyr described earlier), but when it's over he'll find himself something to do; Yeah, Rean gets flak for being too nice, but he's honestly right in his sentiment that the cycle of hatred has gone on long enough and it needs to stop, so he'll be happy if they decide to stop their activities and doesn't cause trouble again...though Rean should probably be more concerned about himself than Vulcan since HE'S the one with a choice to make, and Vulcan is quite fair-play about this, though he does say after Rean leaves that he's perfect for the job.... Though I don't know what Jon he's talking about 🤷. Rean is right though that Vulcan seem to have less energy than normal, he's more composed as well, I guess that does happen when you succeed at getting rid of the number one reason for your hatred.
I also like to reiterate that the narration of Azure never said that Osborne survived, only that the Reformists faction won the Civil War, which can happen even if Osborne is dead; and you also probably need to have a damn good explanation on how the hell can he survive A BULLET THROUGH THE HEART!!!! Because as far as I'm aware, no human can survive that!!!!!
      - Ah, Scarlet, last time we saw her was at the climax near Trista, which was quite the memorable day for the both of them. BTW, you're talking about Nobles having tiers, but isn't that already the case with the ranks they have ? You know: Baron, Viscount, Count, Marquis, Duke, etc... All of these are already tiers to differenciate them isn't it XD ? Cayenne and Albarea are in the same tier, which is why the latter is so butthurt that it was the former who became supreme leader and he want to replace him. Anyway back to Scarlet, we get to.m hear a bit more about her past, if only slightly, Vulcan did tell us last time that she lost her hometown because Osborne built a railway through it, which is probably the reason for her joining the ILF, unfortunately she's tight-lipped about this and the only thing new we learn on that front was that her parents were wealthy farmers; but in other news, we get confirmation that her sword is indeed a Templar sword, same as Ries, and that she trained at Arteria to become a sister, now, WE know about the existance of the Gralsritter, but for Rean who just though that the Septian Church was a normal region, that's quite a shock to the point that he doesn't believe it outright, and Scarlet propise a deal: if we join, we get to learn her backstory.....hmmmm.....between this and the fish burgers of Crow, this choice is becoming more difficult by the minute🤔.
      - Now, the man himself, the Bleublanc; I don't think Rean was surprised just because he saw him, but because he's just casually chilling in the lobby without a care in the world, we're used to his antics by now, but it's still destabilizing for Rean; he mainly talks about the Liber Ark.....yep, he basically recapped the plot of Trails in the Sky to Rean, also I agree with what you said about not being a great idea to play Cold Steel before Sky, although CS1 didn't have many references to it and could be played firdt without much problems, CS2 went completely Overdrive (see what I did there ?) with the references and callbacks, and you're not done with them, and I think the reason Rean reacted like that afterwards is because the stories were so fascinating that he completely forgot for a moment that he was talking to an Enforcer, whereas with the others, he was perfectly aware of who he was talking to the entire time (also, way to miss making a persona 5 reference since he's a phantom thief and he talk about stealing a heart); he also speak at length about Olivier, his greatest rival, though even he doesn't where he is at the moment, only that it's very likely that he's in board the Courageous since it's missing as well, though he also mention that Cayenne would gladly welcome him into the ranks of the alliance if he wished to, after all, he too was weary of the Chancellor and found him suspicious, although he'd have a lot of nerve to propose that when he praised his entire family, but that's just how the Nobles of this country have always done, even during the war of the lions; he even compare Olivier to emperor Dreichels and think that he'll try to end the way in a similar manner, and it's true that there's some similarities between him and Dreichels, the most import one being that they were both bastard with initially no claim to the throne because of their status, and Dreichels was late to intervene in the war, just like how Olivier didn't show up at all for the first month of the war; the parallels are here, because based on how Olivier spoke about Class VII, Rean thinks that the price will try to end the war in a different way than Dreichels, and he leave Bleublanc on these words to let him think (yes Rean, give him a taste of his own medecine!).
One thing I'd like to talk about, Bleublanc already talked about the power inside Rean when they were at the Highlands, and refers to it as "the power of an Ogre", he does it again here and even later when we fight him; for some reason, the term "ogre power" stayed on to refer to Rean's other form and will be used by pratically everyone, while it's funny to think that it's Bleublanc of all people to name it that way, it also means that your "mean Rean" name is no longer Canon, sorry about that 😔.

      - Doobs (affectionate name for Duvalie) left her door open, and therefore Rean gets reprimanded for entering her room without knocking (granted, she's right, but she probably should've locked her door XD) for your question regarding the timeline, no, her fight with the SSS hasn't happened yet, she's just traveling back and forth from Crossbell to Erebonia quite frequently; now before going to what she talks about, I'd like to praise the work Eden Riegel put as Duvalie, her intonations and her way of playing candor, anger and excitement is one of the reasons Duvalie is really appreciated by the community, a top-notch performance amongst already great ones; anyways, it's mostly her simping Arianrhod and telling Rean more about her to show how out of her league she is compared to him (which she ain't wrong, but she's basically out of the league of pratically everyone... Except McBurn but don't tell her that XD), and it's quite important because her tells does remind Rean of Saint Sandlot, as well as the woman who saved the group during the Legram Field Study, so the connection between the two is solidifying; and she reiterate how Enforcers are chosen (Loewe was the first to say it, coincidentally, to Estelle when she was imprisoned), Enforcers are chosen by the Grandmaster and in ordered to be selected, the person needs to have some form of darkness within them, though as said earlier by Sharon, that doesn't mean everyone working with Ouroboros who aren't enforcers aren't strong, just look at Arianrhod and you have your answers, to answer your question on the Stahlritters, it was almost assuredly Arianrhod's idea, since the Stahlritters are her personal task force, the grandmaster probably just approved this idea; and for your remark about her unfriendliness, Rean does say something at the end that can explain it: she's surprisingly sincere and straightforward, not to mention very black and white, because Rean is "her enemy", they shouldn't talk with each other and would immediately engage combat in any other situation, that's why the situation of Rean being on a crossroads is a great one for discussing with otherwise people you can't reason with.... Like her XD.
      - The Zephyr crew are really laid-back and lives the typical Jaegers life: killing each other one day and hanging out the next, so they don't care which sides Rean joins, in fact, out of everyone, I think they're the only ones to not bring up the topic at all; as Rean stated just after, he wanted to learn a bit more about Zephyr, but they skillfully dodged the question to instead talk about Fie the whole time, so Rean caught them up on her school life, and of course, the question of why did they leave her behind gets brought up, but we won't get the answer yet, as Rean's not the one they should tell that to, though it didn't stop Rean from leaving some parting shots at them about Fie being part of THEIR family, and they'll remember that just like a telltale game; also, the fact that you chose Fie for the final bonding event of the last game makes this scene infinitely funnier, because you have all the more reason to be scared of these two right now XD. But yeah, in short: They had a reason to leave her behind, and they actually care a great deal about her, so the conversation was still useful.
      - And now for the two most important conversation of this section, first Altina, with which Rean has an unfortunate misunderstanding since he watched her sleeping (he already done that with Towa last game, dammit Rean, stop entering people's rooms without permission XD); and to clarify your confusion, when she said Claiohm Solais would've attacked had Rean intended to harm her, I think she meant when she was asleep, he would've activated to protect her, whereas the beating Rean received here was because Altina ordered to, which is why Rean exclaim what the hell what all that for just after she explain this; but otherwise, the questions Rean posed aren't really fruitful, it's when Rean somewhat forgive her for the abduction of Elise and Alfin that she reveal a name quite important: the Black Workshop; that's the name of the place she's affiliated with and the ones who loaned her to the noble alliance, not a name we've heard before but probably one worth remembering, she can't reveal anything anything else unless Rean join the alliance.... Damn, the perks are getting more tempting by the minute.
      - Then McBurn gives us our first insight on Rean's mysterious power, as he elaborate on what he meant by being "mixed" back at Bareahard; in his case, he can create fire whenever he wants just by wishing for it, you may think it's the same shit that Emma did during her bonding event in the last game, but with what we learned about her since, we realize now that she actually used Magic for that since she's a witch that trained to be able to do so, whereas McBurn is something else entirely, not orbment, not magic, and not even artifacts, just an unnatural ability that makes him able to use fire without prior training, which is similar to Rean's power, usually people who can do things like that have something foreign mixed into their body that's different from how Stigmas operates (again, we know what that this, but imagine Rean hearing about it when doesn't have any knowledge about the gralsritters XD), in the case of Rean, it seems this thing is mixed around where his heart is, which would explain his scar around that area; but that's all we can say about it for now, we don't know what that thing is precisely, since when it's been there and how exactly did that happen, and McBurn can't exactly answer those questions for us as he doesn't have them; that said, it's clear the unnatural part is much stronger in McBurn than Rean, because it's in ALL OF HIM!!!!!! But yeah, great insight (also, the line Rean says as he exit the room can describe Trails in a nutshell : "All I can do for now is remember what he said, maybe there will come a time where it'll all make sense").

      - And we end it with Alfin, turns out it's her the imperial family member on board the flagship the newspaper talked about, she's used by Duke Cayenne as a mouthpiece to suppress potential rebellion within the territories controlled by the alliance, unfortunately, Elise's not with her, and it seems she serve now as the Imperial family's attendant, so she's most likely where the other members of the imperial family are; and following that, we have a great scene that I'm shocked you cut most of it out of the video, especially Rean's realization, which help understand him reaching a new tier; but basically, we now see the reason for his struggle on making a choice, he still believes that it's not the right thing to do to side with either the Imperial Army or the Noble Alliance, but there's much more at stake than just his personal desires, like Alfin being used as a puppet, or Elise being imprisoned somewhere doing who knows what, ever since he was adopted by his family, he tried to become a brother figure to her (I'm not gonna talk about the "romance" shit, I don't want to ruin this moment and that's not the subject of the scene), he became who is because of them and they treated him like family, and when the traumatic incident in his childhood happened (I think it's the first time he outright talk about it outside of the Drama CD), he ended up unleashing his power right in front of her, and she should've been terrified of him after something like that happened, but instead, she treated him exactly the same as before, treated him like a normal human despite having this monster inside of him, that's why Rean made an oath to himself: that no matter what happened or what he had to do, he would protect her no matter what; and that's what make him conflicted, he wonders if now is the time to fulfill that promise and putting her safety above everything else, even if it means sacrificing his personal beliefs in the process; which is why Alfin has to step in into becoming a mouth piece for Elise's feeling, since as she isn't here to speak to him; she told her about that incident in their childhood that traumatized him, how it was that incident that inspired him to take up the sword, and that despite how selfish it was, she was happy that it sticked with him because it meant that his guilt and responsibilities were focused on her instead of himself; and that one of the main reasons she decided to leave for St Astria, was because she wanted Rean to stop feeling guilty because of her and freeing him from the burdens he imposed on himself; when she saw that he made new friends at Thors and that he was finally starting to move forward again, while she was a bit jealous and lonely, she was also really happy for him; all of this to say that Rean should not use Elise as an excuse to not choose his place in this war, and that more than anything else, want him to carve his own path and find true happiness........... While it's a shame that it's not directly Elise herself saying that, I feel like this scene is unfairly ignored or underrated by the community simply because Elise is involved in it, and that's just dishonest given how important she is to Rean's character development, either in the last game, or in this one with the prologue and now; speaking of which, Rean finally realize that the others support him just as much as he support them and that relationships go both ways, about damn time too after how so many people have beaten him over the head with this throughout both games, especially Elise in nearly all their important scenes, but I think it's quite realistic for some lessons to not stick, especially when you're biased toward a specific mindset, even if you think you learned it, you didn't truly "learn it", I don't know if get my point across well 😅; but like he said, better to realize it mare than never, and as long as he keeps that fact mind, he won't ever lose control again; it makes him reach a new state of mind and to get a new craft: Spirit Unification, which, as you guessed based on the next sequence, allows him to control his ogre power and taping into it.
      - Now that Rean as reached the next tier of existence, it's time to do like Estelle and make a grand escape from the ship with the princess in tow, speaking of Alfin, she's in the party surprisingly enough, and while she can't attack, she can still do link attacks with Rean and use arts, including Seraphic Ring and Shining, both very useful for surviving the provincial army soldiers who are hitting quite hard honestly. Though unlike Estelle, Rean has a much more fearsome lineup to deal with, not to badmouth Loewe, but he was alone on the Glorious, whereas here, you have the whole crew of villains (speaking of them, you can hear them having banters with each other if you interact with the doors while Alfin is in the party, the unexpected ones were definitely Duvalie and Altina, and McBurn and Bleublanc), thankfully, he has a better fighting chance now that he has learned to control his power, and the first witnesses to that are Bleublanc and Duvalie; the fight isn't hard or anything, just a show of Rean's new strength, all of his crafts have been souped up, and one in particular that I think you missed is that Gale changed into Arcane Gale, yep, the same craft as Arios that can hit Twice, and it's quite good, more so than S-crafts according to some, give it a try for yourself when you have the chance.
      - Rean then proceed to force his way through everyone getting in his way, first Bleublanc and Duvalie by jumping so high to reach the door above, then Zephyr by using after-images of himself, and Altina by unintentionally distracting her with a panty shot of Alfin XD (He held her like that so that he can use his sword arm, but still, that won't help clear your image Rean), until reaching the deck where Crow and McBurn awaits, while the latter is interested, the former takes priority, Rean VS Crow, the rematch without the gundams and......I'm guessing from how the fight in your video was ridiculously short and that you started with a Crit that you basically One-shotted him.................... FOR AIDIOS' SAKE, GAME!!!!! I KNOW IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A HARD FIGHT, BUT THIS IS STILL NIGHTMARE, YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO ONE-SHOT BOSSES ON THE HARDEST DIFFICULTY, WHY ARE YOU SO UNBALANCED ??!!!?!!?!..........................ok...I've calmed down... Well, since the game authorized you to press the skip button for this fight, I'll talk about it in his stead: this fight is more symbolic than challenging (but it's not supposed to be one-shotable), and it shows that Rean, with the help of his power, actually managed to catch up to Crow after the previous game where he was a formidable enemy even with several member of Class VII, he still have his whole moveset (except the mines) plus a new one: Blade Throw, and he can actually do his S-craft Deadly Cross when he's in the lower half of his health, a simple yet effective fight with a banger in the background, through this entire segment (from the fight Doobs/Bleublanc to the fight with Crow) it's the debut of Blue Destination, a remix of Decisive collision from the last game and probably Falcom's most viewed soundtrack on RUclips, it's not the last time it plays and it's mainly used as a theme for both Rean And Crow.
      - Unfortunately for Rean, his luck runs out, as his body can't keep up with the power; not that he could've gone much farther anyway since there's no way he could've passed McBurn even with his power; and in just the nick of time, the crimson Wings fly forth to save Rean from this predicament with our allies launching a surprise attack on the enemy, a great payback after they did the same thing to us yesterday, and the Viscount and Olivert decided to enter the fray, making the power balance of both sides practically equal, and just as they were about to duke it out, Vita shows up through her bird to break up both parties and suggesting to let each other go for now; some people don't understand why she did that instead of fighting the group, but personally, the reason is quite obvious, as stated, both sides are of equal strengths, if they fight, they'll be caught in a deadlock and neither side will leave unscathed form this, be it allies or enemies, so Vita made the smart move of cutting their losses to just the princess instead of fighting and making more losses on the fighting side, who are still needed for the war. So both sides peacefully goes their separate ways (I like how you dunk on Duvalie just before the line showing she's scared of fighting the Viscount XD) And yeah, as it turns out, Crow was the one who called Toval about Rean's location, that's why his voice was familiar to Toval, he heard it at the School festival: and it makes sense that it was Crow, since he knew the direction Rean had gone to, though it probably took a while to find him in the mountain range, hence the month gap between Rean's escape and Crow finding him and reporting it to Toval; and he gives Rean one more advice: to get himself a better weapon, one like his, because otherwise, he won't be able to use his full potential; problem: it seems the Soldats all have Mass-produced weapons, so it's extremely unlikely that they created a tachi for the Soldats, especially since tachis are eastern-style swords, so not from around here, and therefore no one uses them, so Rean will need to build his own from scratch; how though ? I don't fucking know 🤷, it's Rean's next obstacle before fighting Crow.. And the sequence ends with familiar voices ringing out as we escape from the Pentagruel.
      - And that's the end of the Intermission, how was it ? There was a lot to talk about which is why this comment is probably longer than the previous ones. Next time, we begin Act 2, and the world will open before your eyes.

Spirit Unification is literally Reans best Craft in the game. I am not sure how the damage potential is on Nightmare, but when I played it I just spammed Arcane Gale in that form. I was playing on easy though. But there is no reason why your Nightmare Rean shouldn't be able to spam those upgtraded crafts too. Although one thing you could do is use Spirit Unification and then activate overdrive to get your CP back and spam some of Reans best crafts for free. That whole section on the Pantagruel was great though. Every Antagonist has their own reasons for doing things here. Even that one guy who plays 5D chess all the time. The next act of the game is basically Azures final chapter now where you have basically free reign of the map. Duke Albarea will prove once more why he is father of the year material and you will have many more options to deck out your squad. Which means you need money. Go and get to grinding more sepith mass to sell for cash weapons. Getting money in Trails is the one thing that is always hard to do. Let me remind you that I was playing on the lowest difficulty and could have probably played with worse gear, but I was kinda paranoid and tried to scrape together all of my money to buy my characters all of their weapons so they would be able to do damage. It took me until Azures final chapter to unlock everyones Orbment slots back then! That shit is expensive! But now the party is back together and can do something. I still need to see your reaction for the final chapter of Cold Steel 2. I wonder how you will react when you learn about "that thing". A lot of the antagonists who appear here have their stuff explained in the second half of the arc. That I still need to play. You will probably get there before me. I am as slow as they come. Keep having fun with these silly anime games. I enjoy them a lot.

It is worth it in every game, but particularly when you have the opportunity to either build Rean as a CP battery or have someone else support in that way. The damage numbers and greater break damage effects in future titles make it better than in Cold Steel 2 though.
Also beat all the Trails games on Nightmare, and some variant of Spirit Unification was always a major trump card as it raises much more than just offensive capabilities which can be the difference of Victory or Game Over.
