That is why Etsy won't let you back on their site. The companies (Disney etc.) have told them you are stealing and Etsy HAS to shut you down. If you open your own website, they will shut that down as well! Don't try to use other peoples' property and make money off of it. It is not Etsy's fault. They are liable to lawsuits if they do not shut you down because companies have complained about your stolen goods.
Hello there! I have watched so many videos on this subject. I really enjoyed watching and thank you so much for sharing your experience with Etsy. I have been selling on Esty platform for 4 years now and recently Etsy has deactivated 3 of my popular products! I am so, so salty 😤😤 that Etsy has done to me! I've had a Shopify account for approximately 5 to 6 months not activated. But, after Etsy deactivated my products and I know more to come. I finally woke up out of my dream that .... Etsy will never do this me! Boy was I wrong. Anyway my shop is coming together and I do plan on activating my shop end of May/June 1st 2023 Again thank you so much for sharing video. Evelyn.

I'm happy that you're back on your feet, sis, and opened your own website. Etsy closed your shop because you were using trademarked and copyrighted images and words in your shop. If you didn't use the Starbucks image or the word Starbucks in your shop, you would've been fine. Unless you have a special license with Starbucks to use their logo and name, your are committing copyright infringement...aka breaking the law. Etsy shut down your store because Starbucks asked them to pull your illegal stuff down. Be careful. Starbucks is a big brand, I hope they don't sue you.

If you make products using logos, pictures, names, etc. from other peoples' intellectual property, they will SHUT YOU DOWN THERE, TOO! They will sue you and confiscate your property--and if you've done it for a long time, they will confiscate other property or force you to pay. You are not safe with your own website!!
Came here after working a week on setting up 100 listings, to then this morning get a "unable to log in" message, and that was it! Not even a mail or warning or whatever, sencerely agitated by Etsy to sell or buy ever again. Great video, GL with your buiseness.
So at about 2:45 minute mark in this video you explained your Etsy Store order asked for eight custom Starbucks cups. What?!?! How long had you been selling an obvious infringement item? Why not sell dark green coffee cups? Now that you have your own website, I would be more careful....as now you are personally liable for infringement. Etsy was a buffer for your lack of knowledge. If Starbucks believes you make enough money to sue you personally you are in serious financial trouble. When your Shopify store receives a "cease and desist" from an Attorney, you will have to stop. Literally. Or the attorney's will find your assets, then put a bank lein against anything you own. It's no joke. You are playing with a giant. Starbucks will hurt you more than Etsy.
That's why you set up.ann llc. People need to stop and take care of business. Its all fun and games until you get sued. Don't mess with copyrighted things without knowing the law

Unfortunately Etsy does not improve in the treatment of its users. The same thing happened to me about a week ago. I made a sale and two days later I entered and my account was suspended. I check the email and no message about it, they even sent me messages of discounts on products, etc. and I was shocked! I tried to communicate which was super difficult. I had to talk to customers to report the situation. He still had some orders to ship. i did everything right and my account is still suspended for no reason and no care.
Sorry to hear that were you were shut down, but I think they shut you down due to copyright infringement. Starbucks is a copyrighted name and you were using it at your disposal for profit. My shop was shutdown, so I thought it's been years since I used it, so I emailed them and they got back to me within just one hour! It was shut down due to I hadn't enrolled in "Etsy Payments". So that is all I need to do, is enroll, and it has something to click on, and then I was good to go. Just don't use copyrighted material to sell and make a profit.

I don't know what products you had in your Etsy shop, but I just looked at your web site and you have items for sale which feature copyrighted and trademarked characters and logos. If you had similar items for sale on Etsy, that could be the reason they took your shop down. I'm not an attorney, but worked in the legal field for a number of years, and if the companies which created those characters and logo become aware of your existence and you don't have permission from them to use their intellectual property in a commercial venture, you could very well receive a very nasty 'cease and desist' letter and be required to pay back any money you made from those items (plus legal fees). You might want to consult an intellectual property attorney to find out what your liability could be.
I think you’re referring to the lv pop sockets and if so ...at the time when I was banned I hadn’t made them yet. I only had custom Starbucks cups. I think the reason I was banned was because someone tried to order with a credit card that was reported or something along those lines because unlike most orders that go through automatically .. this one was pending for days. But that doesn’t have anything to do with me (the seller) so I think Etsy is very strict when it comes to certain things and that’s to the detriment of its sellers. There really aren’t any policies protecting those who sell on Etsy. I still have my back up account with them and have all the same stuff I had before but now I feel a bit more safe knowing I also have my website and other platforms. I hear you on the copyright infringement though and now that those pop sockets are sold out I don’t plan on bringing them back for those very reasons. Thanks for the information💕
@@tillyteez I actually was looking at the custom cups with the Starbucks logo and the SB and PPG characters. I've worked on copyright infringement cases, and it is NOT good to be on the receiving end of one of those cease and desist letters. The infringement issue is really sensitive right now, too, because of the controversy over those altered Nike shoes which had the blood in them. Again, you should consult with an attorney and get their opinion.

Without looking at the products, I, too, suspected this as a potential reason for the ban. I am about to relaunch my account and have done hours of research into comparable products other sellers are listing, and I am blown away by the pieces that scream "copyright infringement ." I studied copyright laws, for my own protection, for years. I wish I had had the foresight to have taken the steps to work in that particular field. Good message! So many don't understand that they are in business and are liable as a business entity for damages -- whether they were aware of the infringements or not. Ignorance will cost you!
My etsy account was suspended the first day I made the account. Like right after I posted 3 pics. It was gone. I emailed them. It's been 3 days and they haven't emailed me back. I'm getting frustrated and I was skeptical about selling on etsy but since a few people I know was selling I decided to try it out. Guess that was my mistake.
I have an etsy account but to be honest I have only sold 1 item and I did all the hard work to get it. After hearing the horror stories on here, I may well close my shop. I have my items for sale on other sites in the UK anyway . Thank you

Have you checked back on etsy to see if your store is on "vacation"? Have you received anything from etsy about since this video? And lastly, were there any products at all that you used in terms of "Print on demand"? You mentioned custom coffee cups in the video and it sounds like a possible print-on-demand item. MY shop made my very first sale 4 days ago. 1 day after that i decided to try print on demand with etsy and I got the account suspension. None of my items were copyright or trademark issue related, so I was thinking it might have something to do with print-on-demand...

Thank you for all the kind words and support! 😊 I did offer custom drink ware as many do on Etsy but I’ve had that on my Account for 2 years now... it got suspended when a suspicious purchase was made. It was pending for a few days which isn’t normal... usually they go through right away. And then I got an email saying the transaction couldn’t be processed and when I went to my shop manager... it was suspended. Fortunately I had a back up account where I sold other items and so I just moved everything over and the account is still fine and active. But I still recommend using multiple platforms so that your bag isn’t affected LOL. Since then they haven’t reached out to me and so I put in a request to delete that account. I guess they have so many accounts they didn’t really care about me to respond 😔😔 But that’s ok... as long as we never give up right?

Etsy was a disaster, for misunderstanding they shut my shop resulting into serious depression to the point of committing suicide. It was the only source for me to earn money online which I was doing good. Even after submitting proof of my innocence, they didn't care. I wonder they believe in Karma because the company has accumulated heaps of curses.

Did she say Starbucks Cup? That is the problem, you violated Etsy's terms, you can't use someone's trademark, brand or copyrighted name. If it is not yours, you can not use their logos, names, slogans, songs, designs, lyrics. Sellers do not realize Etsy can be sued because the pleintif will go after the big money not the seller's little money.
Be careful of copyright and Trademark infringement; it's not worth making a bunch only to have it taken away in lawsuits. ' not totally sure, but I don't think you are allowed to make money using someone else's brand, like Starbucks... good luck to you though in your business career

GIRL SAME. I had over thousands of sales and 5 star reviews, and my shop was just suddenly closed for literally no reason. I take it as a blessing in disguise as now on my own website I don’t have to worry about any of that BS. The long term goal is to always have your own website and drive traffic that way. Third party sites are a total sham

They will come after you ANYWHERE you are selling illegal materials. Having your own website is not a "safe place" - it doesn't matter. Disney and all the other companies, sports teams, etc. will SHUT YOU DOWN. They will send their lawyers after you and tell you to stop, and if you don't, you will be SUED. Stop using other peoples' intellectual properties!!!

shopify was amazing for us. We cut off our etsy account.. Definitely scary because we had a good fan base. Would never look back.

Without looking at the products, I, too, suspected this as a potential reason for the ban. I am about to relaunch my account and have done hours of research into comparable products other sellers are listing, and I am blown away by the pieces that scream "copyright infringement ." I studied copyright laws, for my own protection, for years. I wish I had had the foresight to have taken the steps to work in that particular field. Good message! So many don't understand that they are in business and are liable as a business entity for damages -- whether they were aware of the infringements or not. Ignorance will cost you!

My etsy account was suspended the first day I made the account. Like right after I posted 3 pics. It was gone. I emailed them. It's been 3 days and they haven't emailed me back. I'm getting frustrated and I was skeptical about selling on etsy but since a few people I know was selling I decided to try it out. Guess that was my mistake.

I have an etsy account but to be honest I have only sold 1 item and I did all the hard work to get it. After hearing the horror stories on here, I may well close my shop. I have my items for sale on other sites in the UK anyway . Thank you

MY shop made my very first sale 4 days ago. 1 day after that i decided to try print on demand with etsy and I got the account suspension. None of my items were copyright or trademark issue related, so I was thinking it might have something to do with print-on-demand...

I did offer custom drink ware as many do on Etsy but I’ve had that on my Account for 2 years now... it got suspended when a suspicious purchase was made. It was pending for a few days which isn’t normal... usually they go through right away. And then I got an email saying the transaction couldn’t be processed and when I went to my shop manager... it was suspended. Fortunately I had a back up account where I sold other items and so I just moved everything over and the account is still fine and active. But I still recommend using multiple platforms so that your bag isn’t affected LOL.
Since then they haven’t reached out to me and so I put in a request to delete that account. I guess they have so many accounts they didn’t really care about me to respond 😔😔
But that’s ok... as long as we never give up right?

Sounds like they became scammers.
Etsy was a disaster, for misunderstanding they shut my shop resulting into serious depression to the point of committing suicide. It was the only source for me to earn money online which I was doing good. Even after submitting proof of my innocence, they didn't care. I wonder they believe in Karma because the company has accumulated heaps of curses.

Did she say Starbucks Cup? That is the problem, you violated Etsy's terms, you can't use someone's trademark, brand or copyrighted name. If it is not yours, you can not use their logos, names, slogans, songs, designs, lyrics. Sellers do not realize Etsy can be sued because the pleintif will go after the big money not the seller's little money.

I take it as a blessing in disguise as now on my own website I don’t have to worry about any of that BS. The long term goal is to always have your own website and drive traffic that way. I only uploaded one design all drawn by myself and didn't have time to polish it before they closed it. They reasoned it like what I sell doesn't fit what they want. But how would they know when I didn't even have the chance to work on my shop.
They will come after you ANYWHERE you are selling illegal materials. Having your own website is not a "safe place" - it doesn't matter. Disney and all the other companies, sports teams, etc. will SHUT YOU DOWN. They will send their lawyers after you and tell you to stop, and if you don't, you will be SUED. Stop using other peoples' intellectual properties!!!
