Great narration. Good distinct voice. Enjoy your videos. I was into modeling back in early 80’s. Now I’m tutoring my 15 year old grandson. Amazing what he can learn about history through modeling
As usual, a very nicely edited video that provides a lot of content. Just finished my 2nd watching and took notes this time! I appreciate you combining the chipping with weathering, as it was confusing for me to understand the steps. I've got it now and am going to try it out on my current build (tamiya m8 howitzer). Thank you!
Great job! Thanks. Well organized, topical, informative and enjoyable. Loved the five first models video. Churchill in box is sitting on workbench now. Be well.
Also consider what primer would have been used at the factory before application of the dunkelgelb - adds more time, but a layer of that over the aluminum and before the dunkelgelb would add even more. But that might be better suited to manually putting in chips (a la Night Shift)
Great tutorial on chipping, but I was wondering after your chipping of the dark yellow layer, do you need to add another hairspray layer before you add the green camo? Also is it do you need to protect bottom base layers like the aluminum before you add the hairspray layer?
Thanks! So essentially once you're done with a particular layer - if you're happy with the current chipping effect - you need to add a protective varnish & then another hairspray coat (if you want to continue with subsequent chips). Otherwise, if you were to spray the green over your yellow chips without a protective coat, any subsequent chips would just take off even more of the yellow (as well as the green). I hope that makes sense!
Nice vid. The few times I've tried hairspray chipping I haven't had much luck, But I'll try again following your steps. FYI, Vallejo makes a basic Model Color called Black-Gray that looks great on tires that have been in the field for a while. Tamiya also makes a Rubber Black that looks great for newer tires. JMHO but straight black tires just don't quite look right.
Thank you - glad to hear it! I have a few figure painting tutorials on my channel, including two for 1/48 figures & one for 1/35 figures (at the time of posting) if you want to check them out, too. Thanks for watching! 👍
@@SpruesNBrews me lack of understand how to paint figure. I did watch on what you did at Tamiya Wehrmacht Infantry Basic set. I really hate the flesh part.
Looks great! I might be wrong, but I think the dunkelgelb would have been sprayed over the dunkelgrau irl, because it's a later war color. I would also try ammo wash for dark yellow, I think it looks a lot less stark and a lot more natural over that camouflage.
You're correct! I was kind of figuring out what I wanted to do as I went along here, but you're right that the grau would have been the original base. And thanks for the tip on the ammo wash! 👍
Its the little gun that could lol I do like the Pak36 its so iconic though I wouldn't fancy my chances taking on KV with this little guy lol Great tutorial too by the way :)
So maybe this is a dumb question… what’s the advantage of decanting the hairspray into the airbrush versus just misting it out of the can? Love your channel by the way.
Thank you very much! And good question - spraying out of the airbrush provides a lot more control & a more consistent stream of hairspray than through the built-in nozzle. I've tried going straight from the can, but it gets a little lumpy 👍
Thanks for the tutorial Hank! New to your content and new to airbrushing as well! Can I ask what ratio of thinner you typically run when spraying the acrylics you show in the video? I'm trying to get my pressures and ratios right... seems I've dove deep into a rabbit hole haha.
Sure thing - thanks for watching! I usually airbrush AMMO Mig paints that are specifically mixed for airbrushing, so you can spray them right out of the bottle. I also generally am spraying at 22psi 👍
Good tutorial. On a side note, screw these 1/16 STuG III kits from Das Werk- I want 1/16 artillery kits! I mean we're getting 1/35 and 1/72 battleship turrets from Takom so why not?
WARNING to anyone new like my self you NEED to the the layers dry before chipping I made this really nice Sherman only for it to get ruined with the water and the paint I didn’t find out till later that you NEED to let every layer dry or a long time around 1-2 hours in in a rush but best to leave over night
It's excellent tutorial. All processes are clearly shown. Also, it must be helpful to do. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it - and thank you for watching! 👍
You provide a very nice tutorial for someone who is new to the hobby and airbrushing. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much - I appreciate it! Thanks for watching 👍
Always liked that gun. Built a little vignette YEARS ago out of one of those. Great job. 👍
Thank you! And it's definitely an iconic piece of equipment 👍
Built most of the Pak 40 today.
Was great to find this video.
Helpful as always.
Awesome! Enjoy - that's a great one, too 👍
Outstanding work as always, my friend. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to a diorama.
Thanks so much! I appreciate it - thanks for watching! 👍

Awesome video Hank I learned so much
I'm so glad to hear it - thanks!
Outstanding explanation! So many other videos miss the mark. I'm going to have to try this in on an M88a1G I'm getting ready to start painting.
Thank you very much - glad to hear it! Happy Building 👍
Amazing

Wow. So cool.
Thanks very much! 👍
Outstanding job !!!!

That's a great piece, does the kit come with crew figures ?
Thank you! And yes it does - I'm planning on painting them up for a little diorama sometime soon 👍
Thank you!

👌👍
👍🍻😁
Can this be done with tamiya acrylics?
Definitely!
Haven't had a can of hair spray here since the 90s but that's about to change lol
Haha one reason to pick some up! 👍
