To make the back more transparent, I like using Weblon, specially on thin shirts. Double stick tape is your friend. Your camera placement is perfect. Thank you.
Thanks for such clear instructions, I have enjoyed watching all your placemat transformations. If you make French seams on the corners it helps to keep the bag upright. Just mark and stitch the corners with the right sides facing out. Trim close to the stitching line. Turn the bag inside out and stitch the seams again enclosing the raw edges. I created basic crosshair designs for all my embroidery hoops, using a long basting stitch. If you hoop your stabiliser and stitch out the cross hair design without any thread in the needle, you can use the holes this creates to accurately line up any floated fabric. Just put a pin in the centre of the fabric and align it with the centre hole in the stabiliser. The cross hair lines can be used to align to the grain line of the fabric. I originally created these crosshairs to align Aida fabric for cross stitch embroidery, but they are useful for any fabric. For smaller boxes I add the zip in the hoop. I stitch out cutting lines for the boxed corners whilst the fabric is in the hoop, so that I know they will be accurate. There is a lot you can do with straight embroidery lines in the hoop: simple parallel quilting lines, seamlines and cutting lines, etc.
I made these last year for Christmas for all the ladies. They ❤️’d them! I have been wanting to do embroidery and may do that this year. This technique works great too- to sandwich fabric and batting layers and quilt and then serge edges then stitch up. I’m going to do it this way just to coordinate fabric I have already used on prior gifts. Thanks for sharing ! 🤗
I love all your videos. I just got pan embroidery machine bernina 790+se. I have been sewing all my life. But new to machine embroidery. Love the idea of using a finished placemat instead of making my own. Thank you!
Thank you for such an easy tutorial. I have made several pouches following your instructions. I love them!!!!! How would I add a handle strap from side to side?
Another great tutorial thanks , would love to make some with the Pioneer Woman placemats , unfortunately they are unavailable down here in Australia. I will have to see what other placemats I can find to make this bag.
Lorrie, I had actually bought this very same placemat and was starting on it today, using the same yellow and using my embroidery feature on my Brother SE600 for the first time. Making it for my granddaughter for Christmas. Can you tell me where you got your measuring template from? I didn’t see it in the list of products. Thanks so much for your wonderful and complete instructions all the time, every single video you do. 😉
Oh man I can't see the options on your screen, it's so light. I purchased an EM1010 also and stumbled across you videos which are very helpful for me. And I love bags!,
I think the font from Itch2Stitch is actually One More Night. Love your videos and I recently found these latest placemats! Making one today with embroidery! Thanks, Lorrie!
I just love all your videos and Love this project. It will be a great gift to give to all my girls. can I ask you what size did you make the Font? (i.e. 2", 4")
I have been following you for about 3 years now and I love everything that you make. I am preparing my portfolio for my small business and wanted to know how to make your graphics digital. Can you refer to someone that created your website?

Did you use a zipper foot?
How long have you been sewing ?
This would be awesome for a baby layette filled with fun baby stuff w baby name.
What needle size and type do you use?
I use an 80/12
Do you have to embrodiery the material before you make the bag?
Really?! I’m the FIRST one! (Is there a prize for that?!) Always LOVE Lorri’s videos! Great re-make of a now classic. Thanks Lorri! ❤️
