when my son was 3 years old he sings along saying "we like crispy tenders!" And it warms my heart that he loves Bad Religion and punk bands like his old man. Rock on my son! Rock on!
Bad religion has some really amazing b-sides and rare tracks. This one is off of an new america promo disc,Some other great b-sides include song's called MEDIOCRITY,NEWS FROM THE FRONT, SHATTERED FAITH,MARKOVIAN PROCESS,LEADERS AND FOLLOWERS,THE FAST LIFE,AND THEY HAVE A FEW MORE THEN THESE ONE'S
This is one of my all time faves. I think I remember listening to this around 2001. Many people in the comment section have already pointed out the strong similarity with The Lie. When I first heard The Lie I thought oh it's that Pretenders riff. Love this song so much. I've been an avid listener of BR since around 1992.
@@kevincloar2443 So, so wrong. Brutally wrong. Even if you only like short, fast old-school punk tracks, literally every album since STF has a sprinkilng of that. . . and so much more.
I give to you, you take from me We live in perfect harmony But I know you can't give me what I need With subtle care and rosy hues We duke it out, we change our views We hold so dear our unanimity Oh...
Obviously as pointed out by the other commenters, there's a strong resemblance to The Lie, which ended up on The Process of Belief, but I also hear a strong resemblance between the backing vocal "me and you" and the backing vocals on Parallel from The Gray Race. Lots of good pieces here but you can see why it's a b-side and the pieces ended up in other songs.
Yeah, I do still like The New America, but will not go so far as to say I still like No Substance. :P I feel like the band was in a bad place at that time, and while Todd Rundgren apparently pissed Greg Graffin off in the studio, the result was probably better than it could have been. Rundgren also pissed off XTC, but the end product was their best album, Skylarking.
I know what you mean, but I disagree. I think The New America is a great album with many awesome songs. Songs with soul. Anyway, this song is kinda cool. Catchy chorus.
@Filmorethepreist Exactly. Songs evolve, it's not like they promote this song and the lie as different current songs. This song just became what is now the lie. It can take years to make a song into its final state, happens to me constantly
it's kinda funny casue a lot of their b-sides are better than what they actually put on the album. Most likely they didn't have much choice or say in the mixing and production of their records when they were at atlantic. Still glad they went cause they would have gotten too big had they stayed with epitaph and that could have possibly destroyed them as a whole.
One of the reasons was probably to avoid having to avoid a potential conflict of interest with Brett as the owner of Epitaph. He had to leave the bad because Offspring and Green Day were becoming too difficult to manage while he was out on tour.
So they recycled a few chords. You try writing fifteen albums and coming up with new chords. Besides, thats the style of the Cali. punk they were born into.
btw: i like the second half of the album, the 3 songs there will be a way, the hopeless housewife and dont sell me short are definitly among my favorite BR songs EVER. I just stated that i think new america and believe it are pop songs. for me there are just some of the worst BR songs on the new america - that has nothing to do with close minded and with their other albums of fantastic content.
@@qayss8977 yeah I don’t hate it either but it’s really one of their poorest. But I love how you replied to a comment of mine from 12 (TWELVE) years ago!! How crazy is that..?!?

Normally Davethebrave makes some relatively dumb comments, but I agree with what he is trying to say. New America was a "poppy" album leaving something to be desired on a few tracks. People who are die hard "Suffer" or "No Control" fans probably cringe at some tunes. I am with Dave on this one. Half that album rocks hard, the other half not so much. And by the way, the song NEW AMERICA, is really terrible. All BR fans know that, even if they like the song.

A BAD RELIGION SONG I HAVEN'T HEARD BEFORE!!! This makes my morning.

Wth! They used this song as a reference for "The Lie" off of Process of Belief! That's kinda cool
"8.99! 8.99! 8.99! 8.99 for a yo-yo!"
lol!

One of my favorites in the rarities. I had a burned CD of these once upon a time, no idea where it went in a move though.
This song is like ridiculously awesome!
Great song. The words hold alot of truth tbh.
Listening during 2020 Pandemic
i love this song
brilliant song, brilliant band!!!
this is power pop rock new wave now. right on.
WE ARE CHICKEN TENDERS , WE ARE CHICKEN TENDERS 😏😁😍😇 BAD RELIGION ROCKS
different type song but as greath as those from other albums
i have this single
I really like this song. I'm one who likes
both BR's poppy and punkier stuff. Give it up for The New America.

This is pretty much "The Lie" from The Process Of Belief lol
Yep ;) Bad Religion are also known as Bad Recycle 😁😇
The word 'punkiest' amuses me.
True, but since "pretenders" was a b-side (at least in North America), it doesn't really count ;)
Uma primeira versão de The Lie?
yup. i caught that too. recycled the rift

where the hell did this come from?
@DavetheFuckingBrave go to BR's website.... into the unknown .... LOOK FOR IT

I don't hate the album, but you're pretty right. But all is forgiven given their catalogue. . . and Don't Sell Me Short is simply majestic.
