If you were wondering, the "kinda orange and blue" cinematic look is actually called "teal and orange" in color correcting vocabulary! A lot of films use it because it's two very harmonious colors that you can find traces of in the human skin (among other things).

I don't know if it's mentioned in the video but something weird about this game on PC is I don't think you can set the texture quality to max settings from within the game. You have to edit it in the .ini file to actually get the highest quality textures. Which is odd. I might be wrong, though.
Very glad you mention this! I always wondered why the textures were lacking behind a bit on my PC. Can you tell or link to what exactly you're supposed to edit?
Yep, can confirm. I started another replay for Christmas a couple of weeks ago and ran into this issue. Had to use the config file to set the textures to max.
It was part of a year-long trend of developers trying to automatically set texture quality (and nothing else) based on frame rate. They quickly figured out they were terrible at it. A vestige of that still exists in the Assassin's Creed series with an auto anti-aliasing option.
Today I remembered this game existed. I loved the original trilogy, but somehow missed this one. Merry Christmas DF Crew! Hope you and yours are having a wonderful day.

I’m currently playing this on my steam deck oled. It looks and plays phenomenal. This game holds up well. It runs at 60 fps without a drop on steam deck, holds a solid 90 fps too if you don’t care about battery life
I have replayed the arkham games so many times. Arkham knight was easily the best but it got panned because of the framerate issues at release. That game is not only super high quality, but you can play the entire game with zero loading screens 👌
You guys had the same experience as me delving back into this title. Booting Up: "I don't get why people malign this game. It's underrated. I don't remember anything about it, but I'm sure they were being unfair" 30 Minutes In: "Yeah, it is kinda mid, actually."
I'm playing with resolution set at 3840x2160p well over 100fps on PC 40 series RTX. The only thing about Origins is the combat feels more tiring in some of the larger fights. Get tired of the input button commands constant countering etc compared to other Arkham games. Idk maybe its been too long for me since playing. But yes I stil have to finish Origins and Arkham Knight. I'm glad I waited for the best version and mods on PC. HD texture pack for Arkham Knight is amazing.

That phys-x smoke is awesome. Why didn't more games take up the phys-x effects? They add such great atmosphere to games. When the Arkham games started that it felt like we were at the start of a new generation of smoke and atmospheric effects, but i've seen nothing like it since.
My guess is: Most games are developed for console first, then done for PC later. So the games we got with PhysX probably had a Nvidia incentive on the side (money or whatnot) Nvidia got tired of these practices and stop trying to push the tech. Although some games still use PhysX but not at the level we see in these old games.
Thank you DF for the unexpected present under the tree today. Hope you’re all having an awesome day. ❤

Arkham Asylum used Phsyx. I almost thought F.E.A.R. used it too, but it used havok and some other stuff i misremembered.
This was my first batman game that I played. I love it.
I’m currently playing this on my steam deck oled. It looks and plays phenomenal. This game holds up well. It runs at 60 fps without a drop on steam deck, holds a solid 90 fps too if you don’t care about battery life
This truly is the Die Hard of video games
I loved Arkham origins when it came out and feel it was underrated. Like John though i remember very little about it
I hate how WB keeps trying to pretend this game doesn’t exist. Arkham Quintology!
Arkhan Origins deserves more love. Roger craig smith and troy baker were also fantastic as Batman and Joker respectively.
I don't remember anything about it, but I'm sure they were being unfair"
30 Minutes In: "Yeah, it is kinda mid, actually."
That lovely PhysX stuff was way more impressive my opinion than any ray tracing.
still playing that after my work im enjoying it ❤
Please do more videos with games that had those PhysX effects. We need those effects back! It adds so much to imersion and realism! Please advise the game developers if you can! Don't neglect the physics part of the engine. Physics are just as important as graphics!
That phys-x smoke is awesome. Why didn't more games take up the phys-x effects? They add such great atmosphere to games. When the Arkham games started that it felt like we were at the start of a new generation of smoke and atmospheric effects, but i've seen nothing like it since.
It's a waste of resources pretty much. They ate more to sell graphics cards.
@@marcelosoares7148 Yeah! It was more a feature to sell Nvidia cards pretty much.
