Amed is also great as you can reach 40m depth or maybe a bit more without taking a boat and visibility is generally great. On the way back of the training we always enjoy snorkeling and if we lucky we can meet some turtles :) and then have a lunch right at the beach
I've been in Amed, and yes, it's also a good place to do freediving. Though I am concerned a bit with a safety issue, if you are diving on a 40+ meters buoy. In case of the accident of your training partner, you need to tow far away to the shore. And it would be extremely difficult. A part of it, yes, good place :) I spend there around 3 weeks and might come back in the future :)
Great video as always. Gili T's topology and visibility consistency is great for freediving even from the shore. Freedive Gili is excellent as well! Highly recommended! On a side note...It is disappointing to see how much anchoring is done on the shore's corals though by the majority of the boats (not from Freedive Gili). In 2001 Gili T was AMAZING with stunning corals that unfortunately has turned into coral bits after 10 years.😢
Thanks for the great video - the three locations you mentioned are exactly the places I am considering going to do my masters/instructors courses next month, I'm just trying to decide between them! Could you please explain why you think Gili T is better than the other two spots? I'm currently planning on Nusa Penida but open to other suggestions! Cheers for the video and maybe see you on Gili T in October!
Hey mate. It's hard to explain :) As I said, there is nothing wrong with both Nusa Penida and Amed. But freediving at Gili T feels like what we do on Koh Tao - strong focus on safety and quality. Since I focus exactly on the same things in our freediving center, it was pleasant surprise to find the place where they do the same. But as I said, it's just my subjective opinion based on staying there about two weeks :)

Agree, so many boats anchored near the island...
I'm trying to learn how to breathe and equalize for shallow water diving, thank you for your great tutorials for beginners!
You're so welcome!
