Am I the only one who thinks these goofy celebrations are kinda stupid? It makes baseball feel more like cruise ship or disneyland style entertainment and not, you know, sports. Just feels cheesy and hokey. Its one thing if a player is excited by a good play and spontaneously does something. Its quite another to have marketing gimmicks after every HR.
Fun like this in a dugout gives the team a morale boost. So how can you take this away from one team and not the others?
Hope some Braves fan makes them a giant HR tomahawk they can wave to pump up the team
The issue was about licensing. I believe the maker of the hat was in conflict with the MLB uniform supplier or something like that.

As a Reds fan, I honestly think ours is the worst, along with the Royals. Brewers I find very fun because it's so simple that many of the fans can also be wearing one

So, if you watch your home run too long or flip the bat, the other team loses their mind. But putting on a costume and props back in the dugout is ok? Baseball has got to have the stupidest unwritten rules in all of sports.
I think their issue is that one is on the field, right in front of the pitcher who gave it up, and one is in the teams dugout. If the pitcher/ team complains about your dugout celebration you can easily argue "don't look in our dugout" but on field you're directly in front of the pitcher. I agree with you though

Trident and Cheese head are the coolest and make the most sense. All the others are awkward, tacky, and lame. A lot of the bad ones are just too complicated and don’t represent their teams that well. Instead of the pirate sword they need the most epic pirate hat like the one the Seattle Kraken Hockey team uses

I don’t really understand the appeal of most of these celebrations. Some are cool like the trident, which is actually related to the team (and genuinely looks cool), but it feels creatively bankrupt to just copy the formula of wearing something goofy instead of doing an actually unique celebration ritual. Braves big hats, Angels samurai helmet, and Reds Viking helmet feel particularly tacky, and while the Pirates sword is cool they should have a Jolly Roger flag they raise instead. Makes way more sense. Why do the Royals wear a gladiator mask and not have a crown and scepter?

Everyone in the MLB is going to hate this one little thing about those celebrations that are now becoming the "norm" of dugouts after hitting a home run. I want you to look back before the 2017 season and see how many of these same clubs had a schtick after hitting a home run. There was one team that was doing it and they were a small market club, and they didn't have any props when they did it. Look up the 2017 Houston Astros homerun dugout celebrations and then look at what the rest of the league is doing, Yeah, it began then and now every team is doing their own form of it. Sure, everyone was high-fiving afterward, but the props and other things they are doing...Thank the Astros for all of this.

I'm not a Yankees fan, but I agree. Any team not doing this goofy nonsense gets credit in my book. I'm fine with bat flips and "showing joy" or whatever (the different high fives and poses are fine). But these guys putting on different clown suits here is just cringe af.
I don't even care about the old man/old school "respect for the game" argument. It's just a game. Not a ritual. So I don't think the guys have to be stoic monks out there while playing like it's 1920 or something. But this cosplay here in the dugout is just a stupid clown show that's being normalized. Eventually some people are going to rightfully say "the emperor has no clothes," here. No matter how many guys feel pressure to do this due to herd mentality.
