@@brentm7278 yes you can...people do it every day. It's not impossible to modernize the functionality of an older home without destroying its original elements.
Oh please, please, please do a full length tour of this home and show us some more details about the spaces, construction and design. This could be a series.
The way Erin Feasby spoke about the transformations in this stunning renovation breathed new life into the space, amplifying its beauty in ways I hadn’t even imagined. Her vision resonates so deeply with me-it's as if I’m seeing everything through her eyes, feeling every detail as she does. This isn’t just design; it’s pure artistry in every sense. Bravo to Erin and the entire team for creating such a masterpiece!
Absolutely stunning! The original stone is a dream come true! The surrounding land is the icing on top of a delicious cake. Thank you for this lovely tour! ❤
What a beautiful and cozy home! It’s so crisp and clean without feeling sterile. The color choices and placement definitely add to that look and feel. The grounds are amazing as well!!
Gorgeous house! I especially love the banqueting because it is made of 2 benches instead of a built-in. It made the space light and airy because the floor underneath is exposed. And I also live the 2 windows flanking the oven. I imagine the kitchen still feeling warm and cosy even though the outside is covered in snow.
What a beautiful old house!! It's so good the owner wanted to keep the beautiful historic fireplace and I thought the detailing on the stairway was stunning. I adore his idea of a pergola built out of the old barn ruins.
Great farm house and addition, but thank God the owner won the battle to keep the original stone fireplace! What were those posh designers thinking?! Out of several fireplaces, what would be the hesitation to keeping one original, especially when it's stone like the exterior? I don''t get the X detail.
This is unique and beautiful. It is very difficult to get any sense of the spaces when all the camera work has focused in tightly on details, and yet when those details are being specifically spoken about - the newel post for example - there is no shot to illustrate the point. It is a shame as this is one of the few homes to stand out on this channel from the usual bland renovations.
1) No sink in the island!!!! This is destroying your one and only XXL buffet centre of the entire open space, that can be used as a wonderful display area for larger parties and gatherings. Plus when you sit around it, you always will look into the dirty dishes and stuff, that naturally come with a one sink kitchen. When you have such a long counter space along the wall, put both stove and sink right there and arange the windows within the new construction accordingly. 2) Way too monochrome and allthoug the colors are from F&B, it turned into another super boring pallet of "greige", that has been dominating the Toronto interior scene so long, that it makes you want to unlive. What happened to this gorgeously aged wood of the original deep window bays?? 3) THANK GOD the owner didn't allow them to do anything with the original stone fireplace!!
At 0:11 she mentions that the house is close to the sea, but the credit says it is in Markham ON. Pray tell, what sea is near Markham? A lake maybe, but not a sea.
Good for Adam not allowing those stupid designers cover up the fireplace. She went on about "keeping original" then wanted to cover up the original fireplace. I would never hire her.
I absolutely hate a sofa at the end of the bed. Whoever thought that placing two large pieces of furniture next to each other looked good? It just looks weird. Chairs or a bench would be better at the end of the bed. Also, why do contractors always make the primary bedroom so large? You only use it for sleeping and intimacy. The rest of the day, you’re not in the bedroom. It makes no sense to have a large bedroom. I also don’t understand why people have formal living rooms. No one ever sits in them! They should have opted for an office instead.
Bland and boring. Looks like a cookie cutter catalogue style. The original woodwork, deep windowsills, etc are amazing, but other than that this design and color palate looks no different than a modern day brand new build.
It's bizarre how most of these designer/architect/renovator types say similar things about their projects - how they wanted to *really* preserve something or pay homage, how they wanted to make it warm or inviting and how it's so unique and original. And it's all bland, tasteless, almost depressing.
I can't believe the designers wanted to cover the fireplace! These people are nuts
The house was not returned to its roots...it was yanked into the 2020s. Sad.
She said COVER the fireplace. Which means reface it, not close it up!
@@TheSwissChalet You can't live in a house from 1861.

@@TheSwissChalet I would hardly call what was done here 'destroying' anything. But to each their own. Have a lovely day.

I am so glad they didn’t touch the fireplace that is a gorgeous fireplace. I’m glad that guy fought for it.

I love the original stone and the fireplace. Your dog Bear is adorable!
What a beautiful home…the window sills are perfection. Definitely my favorite so far ❤
I also love those deep window sills!

How fun and lovely. The best of both worlds is right!
Absolutely love this home

Wow absolutely amazing job To persevere the old with new 👏🏾❤🇨🇦
What a tasteful, gorgeous renovation.
Stunning! Love the mix of old and new!
That old stone is beautiful. Love it!
Soooo beautiful. The house was brought back to life. I love everything.
Stunning!
stunning and what a lovely home owner
Gorgeous.
Stunning
Good job on the windows ! Single glazed
windows with storms . Energy efficient too .
Incredibly Beautiful! Congrats on all your efforts!
Amazing 😻
Gorgeous
Gorgeous and well-thought home but Bear is the best!!!
A gorgeous home. Paint colors used are the best.. It’s time to move past all the white walls and trim .
This is barely a step up from that.
stunner.

Amazing! I would love to live in a house just like it but in San Diego lol.
Staircase is the most outstanding feature!
BEAUTIFUL 🩶
It's a gorgeous home. It definitely needs some vintage furniture and smalls though. It's falling flat with all the store bought decore in my opinion.

What brand are the gas fireplaces?

I heard "city"
She said “city”
She said the CITY, not the SEA!

No need to call the designer "stupid"..yes they should have covered it it looks horrible but the "stupid" owners said no!
I like a dog more than anything.

It has all the trendy elements but it lacks warmth and personality
Nice home but a bit to "sad beige" for the color palette and for me.
Absolutely. I've never seen a "designer" create such a lack of style!
@@TheSwissChalet I guess it depends on one's taste. I wouldn't have minded a pop of colour but outside of this, they did a good job.
There used to something called colour, Remember ? . It used to bring us immense joy

I wish you would’ve left some of the original character of the home.
Stone.. Beams… ect
It just looks like it’s overdone 🤷🏼♀️
Just like NYC
Wow, big surprise no colour! Why do Canadian designers have such a fear of colour?
What a stuff up. When dealing with an historic property get a designer who thinks about period restoration.
Beautiful.
