Another example of man’s inhumanity to man. And a nosy neighbor who doesn’t think twice before being disrespectful to the departed. So many things wrong with this story.
That’s what it costs in the D.C. area. This house would have been sold as a “tear down.” They paid $700,000; will then pay to tear it down and remove the rubble, and build a McMansion with a tiny, tiny yard on the lot. There’s a lot of money being made in The Swamp, lol.

What's sad is that he lost the house because the County had to extract their pound of flesh, to the extent of rendering him homeless. I'm sure there's a bureaucrat somewhere just counting the days until they can collect a pension paid-for by this robbery. Being "weird" and needing assistance shouldn't be a death sentence. This guy sounds like he needed help, not a profit-motivated assault by the government.
Bigger tragedy is the fact that those sh*thole houses are going for $700k. Nevermind the glee of the neighbor’s (Stephanie) face describing the man’s demise like a vulture. The man’s paid off home was lost due to taxes. What a shame!
A word of advice to parents...if your child has competence problems, be realistic about it and set up a trust fund for them so that someone else will manage the finances. This man would not have lost the house if someone had paid the taxes on it. Trust funds are not just for rich people.
As a parent, we all want what is best for our children and to know that his parents gave this property to their child and then for him to loose the already paid off house is really sad. And to top it off he was just living in a past long gone with beautiful childhood memories that he could not let go of. We all have to learn to let the past die at some point to be able to move on with our lives. Very sad ending. May he rest in peace.

Some neighborhoods are close knit where neighbors know and talk to each other. This is especially true for older established neighborhoods inside the city. Contrast that with neighborhoods in the suburbs where everyone does their own thing and nobody talks to each other.

$700,000 price on that little old house is insane though.
This is a really sad story. We need to take better care of each other.
