Wow, I remember back in the day after a week or two in Bangkok and Pattaya you would go to Georgetown in Penang to get the 60-day visa from the Thai consulate there so you could spend more time exploring Thailand. After obtaining the visa, you would take a taxi across the border to Hat Yai. Change taxis and continue to Surat Thani and take a ferry to Koh Samui. It had no airport. five-star hotels etc. Just a lot laid back times on Chaweng Beach. I stayed at the Whitehouse a little hotel owned and run by a Swiss named Andreessen and his Thai wife. Good times...
Another excellent video. Seriously I can't get my head around the fact you don't have > 1 mill or more subscribers - you're hands down the best travel Vloggers out there and trust me, I've watched DOZENS. Wish you guys would pump Vlogs more regularly. Even if it isn't action packed with site visits etc. You guys are interesting enough (as Vloggers) to watch and hear going about a typical day overseas. I don't mean that from a voyeuristic point of view of course but for us at home, traveling vicariously soothes the soul. Even a quick 5 min video of you guys going down to the markets to grab dinner, or a quick tour of your hotel, talking about your plans for the week etc would still be interesting content.
Thanks so much David, your support means a lot! To be honest, my less than regular upload schedule is a big factor as to why the channel has been slower to grow. I would love to make more simple vlogs like you describe, but I'm a perfectionist and they don't sit so well with me creatively. Unfortunately, the channel also suffers from most of my audience being from the Philippines. They are not interested in any video that is not about their country and many actually unsubscribe every time I upload a new video - which means my content doesn't get recommended as much as they used to. I'm actually considering starting a new channel to combat this, but we will see. Thanks again for the support!
@@OneShotAdventures Hmm interesting re your Filipino viewers. An idea for you Ryan and being a perfectionist is always a good thing to give you an edge on the rest..... You could create an new/spinoff channel where you interview other expats and retirees who've moved to Asia - how they did it, when they did it, cost comparisons to home etc coupled with a detailed video of the expat enclaves, shops....you get the point. Some of the other content is too boring personality wise, too much verbiage, have the camera just panned on them the whole time. You could do it tons better, and those videos get views when they're done well.
Thanks again David - I'm considering a lot of different options at the moment. I currently have around 20 videos already filmed, just waiting to be edited. So I plan on finishing those and uploading them to this channel - we'll then see if I have managed to make a change in terms of audience and growth. My favourite idea currently is to start a new channel where I make proper long form travel documentaries or properly connected series of videos which follow a journey - hopefully the longer content would justify a wait between uploads. I think that would play to my strengths too. We'll see!
🤤 you’ve got me wanting to head back to Thailand. Thailand has to have my favourite cuisine from all our travels. I’ll never forget eating pineapple fried rice out of a pineapple sitting on the beach.

The food looked so great Ryan, was it very spicy hot? Thanks for the video.🍺👌🏻
Khao Soi is a medium spice, I’d say - the other 2 can be very spicy! Although they will normally ask how spicy you like it 🌶

5 minutes in till there’s any mention of food and it’s a food court.
Did you miss the mention of food in the first 5 seconds? 😂
