"You must keep living"
Dude could be a solid therapist with that kind of advice.
Child: I'm afraid.
Batman: Don't have it.🗿
was half expecting him to turn evil but this was more wholesome
honestly same
It tends to be a 50/50 between cautionary tale and hopeful ending.
"Funny, isn’t it, how so many of our stories start the same way, but have opposing endings? In half, the child ignores her parents, wanders out into the woods, and gets eaten. In the other half she discovers great wonders. There aren’t many stories about the kids who say, ‘Yes, I shall not go into the forest. I’m glad my parents explained that is where the monsters live.'"
I was expecting him to go insane
Unless you share the theory that this king was Salem's father, then it goes way past wholesome
*random cloaked person walks in*
King: There is nothing suspicious about this at all
That very cloaked individual has very similar characteristics to Tyrian. What if who we saw was his ancestor? As for the king and queen, maybe they are the ancestor to Hazel?
@@blazeorbitmoon1068 I assume it's meant to associate the figure with 'don't trust this person!' for the audience.
"Greetings, oh wise and venerated king of another country, I have come bearing a crown that's special, but you have to wear it to find out what's special about it."
"Sure thing, mysterious hooded stranger of unknown origin!"
If you think that's weird wait till you see The Emperor's New Clothes.
He was a Fuaness is though
I understood that reference.
Mysterious stranger with horns!
sus from our perspective but this kinda stuff is the norm back then and pre tech what's a crown going to do?
This was more wholesome than I excepted. still the relic of choice leaves more questions than it does answers.
I think that is essentially the point of the relic of choice, nothing is certain.
@@jcmahrt5100 "Dying is no way to take responsibility. Stay alive, stay alive and feel the shame. No matter how humiliating it may be; live through it anyway! All Humans are weak, we're Fallible, we all make Mistakes. I say 'so what? We're not Machines!' Machines feel no shame. Our inevitable missteps, and the resulting guilt: those are the *privileges'* of being Human!" - Ryu Hijikata, _Space Battleship Yamato 2202_
Agreed, though there's something else to point out: these are canononically fairy tales from Remnant's perspective, so it's likely that some of these details are highly exaggerated or altered, making them non-canon hints as a result. Food for thought, if nothing else
Heres an even bigger question, Why did it not affect the lady as badly as the King?
@@striderreborn1467 According to the book, the major moment is selected at random. Basically, she got lucky it chose something good
The tragic part of this is its basically General Ironwood: The Good Ending
Yeah, no backstabbing, lying, or fighting friends. Just good love.
@@draconicdemigod9696 Its more if James was finally able to listen to someone
@@erickamakeeaina1649 Listen to people who he didn't know long enough to trust and lied to him or listen to the people who he knew long enough and trusted but never said anything till he was over the edge of listening to anyone but himself?
@@erickamakeeaina1649 That is also part of the reason.
I'm laughing way too hard at this.
I would judge him for thinking that a disaster would start from a dispute between a father and daughter over marriage, but then I think about Ozma and Salem and how that ended. So, he kind of has a good point.
I think he was thinking that a massive war/disater was coming and that if she wasn't prepared (i.e. having food and shelter and money) it would end badly for her to be in love but starving
What a legendary chad response "you must keep living" what a guy
Every character ever.
To be fair he does follow it up with letting her live in his palace for free with no strings attached. That's a pretty sweet deal.
lmao when i heard him say that I was really about to close the video but then i saw the rest of the lesson
Sometimes what sounds silly to others is exactly what someone going through hard times needs to hear.
“The greatest act of courage is living”
I feel like the king saw the gods destroying all of humanity which was why he was so scared, and it is possible he witnessed some of the current events in the show or beyond those as well.
I mean, if the relic of choice exists, then that would have already existed, so I don't think that's what he saw. He probably saw some incoming tradegy that would befall either him or his people, or something of that nature.
@@stars_and_lattes3078 or he saw it happen a second time
The woman's tail in her vision is so cute.
Didn't notice that the first time. Had to go back and check when I read this and it was SO CUTE!
“i just lost my family and village to grim i don’t know how i can go on” “you must keep living” i- that solved my problems i guess 😂😂
naruto motivational speech
that was unintentionally hilarious
To be fair he also takes responsibility for that by giving her a place to keep living in.
And she pays back the major favor in return. Maximum wholesomeness
Also, time to keep a crown from a stranger that attracts Grimm and only brings me suffering.
Wise King, Wiser Queen, who was a Faunus. Also, we're getting a look at the relic now, I assume so they don't have to fully explain it later.
They probably will explain it in the same depth as the other relics to make sure we, the viewers, understand how RWBY know about it.
The queen is a relic!!!!?! 0:
@@DarrianYates XD, no the crown.
Imo they will be in a situtation which they have little time to explain so they will give us summary instead and later fully explanation
if i remember correctly the crown is in that desert place and the sword was supposed to bee in vale but ospin hid it somewhere else
3:20 Imagine going to your local government leader and asking them for relationship advice
That was par for the course in medieval times. Kings were thought to be lifelines to God, and similarly to how people will go to priests to ask them what they should do, they would go to the King and ask him what to do
@@ZekromAndYugiAndDrago123 might be a bit of a romantic depiction of history, but if you couldn't convince your family to accept a marriage you could go to someone higher up to act on your behalf i.e. a priest or a noble
And imagine getting advice, and the king pulls out the "But idk" in case he ruins your life with that advice XD
In very old times, obeying your father (especially as a daughter) was actually a religious law. In the bible, if a rebellious child did not obey their parents, the citizens could legally stone them to death.
Marrying outside of your class and free love was also greatly looked down upon.
if I remember correctly, one of the relics we haven't seen yet was a crown. This is probably about the Crown of Choice, and I theorize that it's the relic hidden under beacon -- the king's decedents became the king of vale, which we know was one of Ozma's incarnations. He probably had some weariness over the crown falling into the wrong hands and sealed it specially even before building the academy around it
Omg it took me long to notice that the new wise queen has a tail, the way she wags it when the king proposed in the vision was just so adorable! ☺️
He must’ve seen the live-action movie of *Cats.*
😂😂😂😂😂😂
*shamed Belladonna family noises*
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Lmao!!!
This is by far the best and perfect way of showing the relic of choice
Or at least give some hints. On Remnant, these fairy tales are exactly that: fairy tales. As such, some of the details are bound to be altered or exaggerated over the years.
That being said, so were the maidens and Brother Gods, so who knows. 🤷♂️
I think this and the girl in the tower are among my favorites of RWBY fairy tales. This was very well done.
Also bonus points for making the wise queen a Fanus.
These fairy tales are quite cool
Okay, I will be saying this now, I love the fact that the queen was a Faunus and no one gave two 💩 about it! I love that, seeing as how the main show makes it so Faunus are apparently supposed to be second class citizens at best and monsters/animals at worst.
*i absolutely loved that story, glad the end wasn’t depressing -* 👏🏽
A hopeful ending this is a rare commodity we have not seen since the time of the great oum
To be fair, the good guys did win in Volume 5. But yes, a true win is sorely needed after Volume 8 happened. 0.0
@@Tyrantlizard874 eyup and volume 5 was a victory but a week later the Argus limited and the lost fable happened so
What do you mean? There hasn't been an ending to the story yet, we are only up to chapter 8. There is still hope for a good ending, as long as there we remember Ozpin's words from the intro of Chapter 1 Episode 1.
@@JarieSuicune Exactly. We should save our FULL judgment for when the series ends. There's still a place for criticism (Vol. 6 blowing Vol. 5 away being a prime example), but RT still has time to address all of it
@@JarieSuicune I mean the end of a volume not the story
... Poor king, this is a whole mood, that paranoia the first time he doubts himself and his decision, because he knows the solution he gave isn't a perfect catch all is a huge mood, glad it ended so sweetly though
Bro why is the tail wag so precious 🥰🥰🥰 5:44
Because it is super adorable and wholesome. 🥰🥰💖💖
we finally get to see the relic of choice, good
More than that. These fairytales give us all spoilers of the next volume or so: A new type of Grimm, The Decedents of the Hunter’s Children or themselves, the “god” of the Fonis, and now one of the powers of the Relic “Crown” of Choice.
we already knew that the relic of choice was a crown and the relic of destruction is a sword
@@laurenoptified1701 i know that, but now we can see what it does
Let's all keep in mind that these are essentially kid's stories from Remnant's pov. RWBY's good at foreshadowing, but for now these tales are debatable as canon. Still a nice little detour. 🙂
@@MegaJohntom It's 'faunus'.
I think this was my favourite one so far. So wholesome!
Shout out to the screenwriter, vocal performance, and character acting for this shout.
Just make Season 2 of Nomad of Nowhere already.
This art style and storyline just reminds me of that awesome show.
I'm a bit afraid that series is put on ice for a long time or Indeffinetly
Methinks he saw the grand finale of RWBY. There's...not going to be a happy end, is there?
Too soon to say either way, but here's hoping for the better.👍
It would probably be an Esoteric Happy Ending.
I think there should be. A major theme in the series is hope, the inherent good in humanity, and the power of "a simple soul" with the drive to make the world a better place and the will to see it through. It would be very disappointing, especially for me, if the the writers were to abandon that for a downer ending and say that hope is pointless.
There's no evidence that there is no happy end. The king simply said he saw a crossroads with an impossible choice. But he also didn't see everything that might be involved, as is the curse of seeing only part of a problem/solution.
There'll be a happy ending, but I think it'll get a lot darker before that.
5:53 so that's why everyone was after King Godred's crown
The "you must keep living" line is just 👌👌 I loved that it symbolized their love from beginning with the queen, and then having the king realize he loved he. Omg an the fact she was the for YEAAAARS. She grew to love him and all it took was saving her and telling her to live and stay with him in the castle. Even if it was a different room
I just thought of something. What if ozpin saw nothing when he put on the crown and he has been trying to change it only to keep seeing the same result making him desperate and his decisions more impulsive.
Very wholesome--the King wasn't corrupted by the crown's power, he wanted to use it to help the village, but couldn't find the answer...until someone he helped long ago found it for him :3
This was so unexpectedly wholesome I kind of thought he was gonna turn out like Ironwood.
I wonder if that faunus who gave the king the Crown of Choice was an agent of Salum? Suppose this depends on when in the Remnant timeline this fairytale was first introduced.
but why would Salem give the crown away when she wants the relics?
@@notquiteallison good question. To sow distrust and disorder? My reason for this is due to Ozma telling her about the relics. She probably wanted to test the crown out on someone. I'll admit the only flaw here is how she came to learn about the relics abilities, since Ozma only learned about their powers himself after asking Jinn.
What a great idea... Hmmmmmmm... Was she setting the stage for the end of his Kingdom?...
Pretty sure he was
@@notquiteallison causing the king to go crazy? Have afterwards a reason to invade and destroy the king and his kingdom to get the relic back? Sounds legit to me if you're a cruel, undead master of Grimm
A king must be kind, honestly, truth, brave and respectful to his people.
Considering the bittersweet ending that was the last episode, it's nice to see that this king didn't just marry a woman, but a faunus at that.
Also, does the fairytale book explain who that hooded figure was?
From the implication. It is possible that it was a former follower of Salem trying to sow misfortune on the king because his kingdom was making too much progress.
And one he saved before too. Only for her to return the favor
0:31 The Crown of Knowledge
I was expecting a bad ending where the Indecisive King is dead on his throne with his skeletal remains and the crown on his head.
In an illustration in the fairytale book itself. It does. And it hints the tale had different endings depending on who tells it.
That's what I expected based on the thumbnail
Oh, so Ironwood.
Remember in Back to the Future Part 3, Doc explains “Your future hasn't been written yet. No one's has. Your future is whatever you make it.” I like to think this episode uses that same message through the Relic of Choice as it shows visions of what will occur, but in reality the future can be anything you decide it is.
What an interesting story involving the King, the Crown & the decisions that are made with the characters themselves. Not to mention the birth of Kings & Queens of Remnant. This is one good Tale from RWBY.
In the book, the guy with the crown wasn't portrayed as obviously evil. He gives the crown to the king because he believes that the king is "the only one suited to wear it", so he probably didn't realise that it'd drive the king to madness, and he may have thought it'd help the king make the best decisions for ruling his kingdom. However that guy did disappear afterwards in the book as well, so he may have just been lying when he explained his reasons for wanting to give the crown to the king.
Anyone else appreciate the Grimm rampant on the squire's vest? Nice touch.
Wow, I was not expecting this story to end on a happy note. I was expecting this to end on quite the sour note
The sour note would be Ironwood's story.
I know the king's pain well, I call it Philosopher's paralysis, every option seems like the wrong one and thus none are appealing to collapse all possibilities into, how crucial the decision is to make doesn't help. If anything, the severity of the decision makes it harder.
Definitely one of Salem's followers that brought that crown.
Smartest assassination attempt ever
The crown attracts Grimm, so I think the best option is to discard it.
2:31 NOT A GOOD IDEA. I've played Kirby's Return to Dreamland! Every magical crown has a cost!
I really appreciate that reference.
Yeah remember Ice King from Adventure Time
@@xprojectsa3627 oh yea. Give the power of Ice But Lose humanity . The longer where that crown. The worse it get
Also how many Curse crown are there this time .
What a great point! So... does the relic of knowledge make you, deceitful...?

No fictional character deserves to see THIS kind of horror.....except for Cinder. 😆
0:31 I can't wait to see the genie within the Crown of Choice

and the sword of destruction.
I have been saying since world of remnant faunus came out that I would love to see a faunus and human couple. Kinda got that wish fulfilled here.
The Faunus woman looks like the Netflix adaptation of Carmen Sandiego. Must be the art style giving off that resemblance 😂

You must keep living
WHAT A T WIST!! I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT!!!
A ruling sovereign would be referred to as "Your Majesty/Royal Majesty". A prince or princess would be "Your Highness/Royal Highness". (Or other members of royalty.)
"Your Grace" is for dukes and duchesses. (Unless they are a royal duke.)

Wait a second… isn’t that crown one of the relics Salem is after? The one that is to be opened by the summer maiden at Goodwitch’s academy? Oh boy… now this makes sense
Fall Maiden. This is the one guarded at Beacon, which has additional defenses placed around it.
I've been waiting for this tale!
Fun fact; this story is suppose to draw several parallels to Jaune Arc and Cinder Fall.
This crown is one of relics! :O
decisions may be difficult, but they can be easier when made with those they love.
Well, King Solomon from the RWBY universe find Artifact of Knowlege and lost his mind...
Not me crying over here 🤧 too wholesome, too pure
And this is why Glynda needed to haul a$$ over to Atlas back in v7 🤧 someone needed a wiser female to knock this General straight
If only this happened. Could've saved everyone a LOT of trouble!
And now we just need the Sword of Destruction.
The crown of wisdom it's the relic
This crown….is this the relic of choice I always wonder what power it holds because the lamp of knowledge makes sense that you can ask a question and the staff of creation and sword of destruction makes sense what they do but the 4th one from what I saw in V6 it’s a crown and it’s suppose to be “choose” so to give the power to see the future and choose what to do makes sense
2:04 Wait, isn't this how the whole deterioration of the Wise King's mind just started?🤔
The Crown is the Relic of Choice, isn't it?

That king looks so tired.
You would be too if you put on a crown that showed you every possible choice and result leading to indecisive decisions and sleepless nights wondering if you made the right choice as all the people of your kingdom look to your once infallible wisdom.
He looks like me these past few weeks LOL...... i need a bed... 😭
Come to think about the king is possibly oz and maybe seen the events of the show
I think we should run it back and dive on the backstory of the pitch black race from season 1

You must keep living
Such wisdom much life
This was one of my favorite stories from the book
Seriously! The Queen didn't see or experience what the King saw! The Horrors and Pain! She only saw a good vision!
If she had seen the same vision and maybe come to the conclusion that they should still continue living and then convinced the King to do the same it would make more sense!

@Eren what do you mean?

😨🤔I don't think I wanna know😬considering it's called the sword of destruction and the crown of choice bearing a lighter name even though it's a heavy burden...either the sword is a whole death trap or it's reversed and is actually better somehow than the crown.
So far the Crown seems the weakest. Staff is the strongest, Lamp in the middle. Sword is probably either slightly better or worse than Staff.

You know multiverse wise that crown could be the same crown el Ray or Rey from nomad of nowhere.
Notice how the relic is a crown.
Glynda’s emblem is a tiara, a type of crown. And if you look closely at her earrings and broach, it matched the blue jewels on the crown. Which is most likely the Crown of Choice.
Remember when Oz said he made the vault harder to get into than the others?
Well, I’m calling it now. Glynda is the key to the Beacon vault. As to how, il not sure. Maybe they’ll need her aura to fully unlock it.

@@cherrydragon3120 But only the Fall Maiden can open the vault.
I kinda thought (and been thinking that for a while now) Glynda herself is the relic or spirit of the relic. Like Jinn is the relic of knowledge, Glynda is the relic of choice and that is why her emble is a crown and the relic is hard to find. Noone would know to look for ot in a teacher.
