Possibly one of their most popular songs and always counted here in Japan’s top 10 love songs is “Wherever you Are”! Also songs with great messages (more recent work) is “Stand Out Fit In”, “Renegades”, and one I can’t stop going back to is “Wasted Nights”. Also any of the tracks they did for the Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) films, “The Beginning”, “Mighty Long Fall”, etc. One for the old fans that’s more in Japanese is “Kanzen Kankaku Dreamer”. Ed Sheeran is good mates with them and they’ve worked together songwriting, and Ed coaches Taka on vocal pronunciation and stuff sometimes! ONE OK ROCK are incredible all round ❤️

By the way, taka has an amazing akustic version of this song. side fact: renegades is the cedit scene song from the last rurounin kenshin movies - taka and the main actor sato takeru are close friends - absolute outstandig 5 movies (legendery fight scene and moving characters)
i cant listen "wherever you are" without cry. I started to study japanese 5 years ago cause this band, so crazy. and now i am planing to move there, so i hope i can attend their concerts in next future
Wherever You Are is one of my favorite songs ever and the first non-English song that I learned the lyrics to so I could still sing along. Such a masterpiece!

His vocals are insane!! I remember when I saw it for the first time I was shocked because it was a mind blowing but now that I know what he can do I can only appreciate his talents
I swear, Taka did this just to show off 🤣 He's such a versatile singer, truly amazing. "Heartache" and "Pierce" are great Ballad songs to really feel the emotion. "Ending Story??" Is one that has a bit of a surprise in it. "The Beginning" is probably their most well known song for people just getting into them. "Mighty Long Fall" is just epic. "Clock Strikes" has an insanely long note that Taka holds flawlessly. Honestly, pick any live performance, and you can't go wrong

I am so glad that you found One OK Rock. Everyone has commented on their favorite songs. Frankly they are all good and it doesn't matter if it is more rock or more pop. Taka writes most of the lyrics and music and he just is so special. Their lives are the best because they really perform at 120%.

You're the best! Here's the thing that continues to blow my mind, English is not his first language. Japanese and English pronunciations are so different and even native Japanese who have been speaking English for a long time have a hard time with it (I'm thinking of my mom here) haha.

I love that you're reacting to OOR. I love them so much! I remember hearing his voice in concert and was absolutely stunned at how amazing he was live!
Another recommendation is to watch "Renegades." Listen to the original MV and then listen to his piano version of it, which is absolutely beautiful. Some of my favorites include "I was King," "Heartache," "Wherever You Are (Yokohama Stadium Live or Ambitions Live)," (if i recall he wrote that one for his friend's wedding), "The Beginning," "Yes I Am," "Cry Out" and "Broken Heart of Gold." Of course, I love everything I've heard from them. If there's live versions, those are soooo amazing! He sounds just as amazing live as he does on recorded tracks. I'm always so baffled and blown away by Taka's voice.
I know his family is talented. His parents are traditional enka singers, and his little brother is the singer for a band called My First Story.

I saw them live in Toronto a few years back and they are amazing live. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to! Taka's vocals are no joke
His mother is a vocalist who debuted at the age of 16 and was considered a genius from the time of her debut. And his father is also a vocalist who was praised for his singing ability from a young age. So as a Japanese, I just feel that he seems like a thoroughbred.
You should do OOK Tuesday's ... every Tuesday's and react to them ;) Let me take one more step with your amazement with Taka not only did he sing so beautifully but also English is not his first language.. actually he still has trouble with English but thats the beauty of it! By the way, he sings with Arnel Pineda one of my favorite songs by Journey: "Open Arms". It reminds me my teenage years. I love it.

For ballads my recommendation would be PIERCE the orchestra version. They also used to do studio sessions which are acoustic performances of some of their songs like We Are and Heartache. Also listen to both ANSWER IS NEAR and ANSWER IS CLEAR.

So 11 years ago was the 1st time I heard one ok rock in a trailer for the 1st live action Kenshin movie The Beginning, I fell in love with the band right there and every album they just get better and better, and they are all so sweet n nice the 1st I went to see them live I got to meet n chill with them a bit

I highly recommend their live performances The Beginning [Official Video from “EYE OF THE STORM" JAPAN TOUR] and Cry out [Official Video from “AMBITIONS” JAPAN DOME TOUR].Their live performances are not only high quality sound, but also lighting, camera work, crowd participation, and their high energetic performance. I call it theater performance.
OOR did a cover of Adele's Easy On Me for Apple more recently and it is absolutely stunning. Both covers reduced me to tears, Taka's voice is stunning.

I would like you to check out "I Was King" orchestra version! This song felt so powerful when I went to their live performance. The mixture of rock and orchestra makes you believe One Ok Rock can take any genre and do it perfectly!!
One of the best things about OOR in my opinion is that their rock is great AND their slower emotional songs are also fantastic, they are very adaptable, Taka can sing any type of music. I love that you are reacting to them, I am not surprised you love them from the 2 you've done already. Though you are so far only reacting to the slow emotional songs from a "ROCK" band...you may not cry at the rock, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the rock as well.
As you've been doing, only watch the live performances, they are excellent in music videos, but they shine live. They have several full albums over the last 15 years, I used to think that Jinsei Boku was my favourite album, but then I heard 3xxxv5, ambitions, eye of the storm etc. and realized that I don't have a favourite.
