You’ve inspired me to make my own wardrobe! I used to when I was in high school, but stopped when I started working. I’m definitely going back. I miss having things I love and wear all the time that are unique and handmade.
As a knitter, please, please, please either store the cardigan folded or fold it in half and hang over the cross bar of a hanger because you can see how the weight of the cardigan is already starting to stretch out the knit a bit. If it continues to hang that way it will deform the shoulders and put unnecessary strain on the yarn which will eventually cause the fibers to rip or thin out until it breaks. Not something you want to do when you've put so much effort and money into such a lovely piece.
Its horrifying what hanging can do to a garment. Tight weave fabrics, denims and a lot of synthetic fibers can be hung for long times without much concern but even commercial knits and loose weave natural fibers should be stored in a way that doesn't put unnecessary strain on the garment. Hanging is even a technique used in higher end garment fabrication, especially dresses cut on the bias. The garment is left to hang with an unfinished hem so that the fabric has time to 'relax' under it's own weight, and when the hem is finally finished days later there's no chance of it distorting because the distortion has already been compensated for.
I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw the coat, which made me instantly subscribe! It’s absolutely stunning, and I cannot wait to see your vlog on the whole making process! I hope you’ll mention where you got the gorgeous fabric as well :)
I LOVE everything you made this season but think my favorite is a tie between the cardigan and the coat. Maybe one day, I will be brave enough to attempt a coat. :)
I have all these wonderful designs for dresses, skirts and trousers in my mind but unfortunately I can't sew to your standard! You're really good at what you do.
I can't even!! I am just so amazed! What talent you have! Just wonderful, every piece!! I'm showing my mom and sister as they both create and sew like you. You should be extremely proud of your capsule items. You go girl!!😊
Aww thanks so much for your lovely comment! I’m super proud of this collection of pieces as it’s taken many years of practice and patience to get to this point! Thanks for watching and for your lovely words 💕😊
I love all your makes. That chunky cardigan is lovely. As for what colour to make it out of, I’m not sure what to suggest but maybe you could pick a colour out of one of your printed dresses so you could then wear the cardi with it. My favourite piece is the blue dress that you made to a wedding and that you made at the last minute 😊
Rosery Apparel I’d love to learn to knit properly. I tried when I was about 12 (I made a scarf) but never gave it another go. I’m now trying to improve my sewing skills and 2020 will be my second year of sewing and my resolution is to learn to use my overlocker and sew with knits. Maybe 2021 will be the year or learning to knit 😊
Love everything you have made and those styles really suit you! Love the thrift top you restyled also its something I like to do with with my clothes that I have not worn because something has to be altered, buying clothing online because its end of season sale. I know what necklines and sleeve lengths I like and in dresses nothing too fitted round my waist so its all about getting busy and altering my clothing so I have more wearable outfits.
The baby blue and texture of the coat fits you like a glove. I am surprised the pattern which uses drapy-er fabrics on their models, worked in your velvet. And it works and looks stunning.
The knitted item would look nice in turquoise or another blue or cream. Maybe even a sand color, but the blue would suit you as much as the pumpkinish color does.
Super inspiring. I have made several pieces for myself as well, including a coat, which I love. Nothing like having the perfect, custom fit on a beautifully tailored coat. I always get compliments.
I've been sewing for just over a year but mainly focus on bags and a few skirts and one top. But this makes me want to create a wardrobe of handmade clothing too :)
Inspiring! I am looking forward to making more items for my wardrobe (I started sewing this year) and your video fuels my drive for a me-made wardrobe. As a fellow knitter, I recommend a green cardigan. It's a year round color that looks good with a lot of colors and prints and is great to break out for those random cold snaps in the Spring and Fall.
Yay good for you! No better feeling then making your own clothes 😍 And yes good idea, I love green! I’m definitely going to be making that cardigan in multiple different colours.
Love all of them Janelle! My fave would probably be the thrift flip top.. oh and the chunky cardi. Ha, waiting for the warmer weather too.. good heavens it’s been freezing again here in Tassie ❄️🌧❄️😳
Thank you! I’m so happy with how it turned out 😊 It has taken many years of practice and patience (and sadly lots of fails), but you can totally make your own clothes too!
There are many Facebook groups that would love to help you get started! (Knit and Chat or Addicted to Knitting are a couple) another great place to start looking for patterns is a website called Ravelry. It has patterns - both free and paid - at all sorts of levels from basic beginner to mega expert. There is a pattern for literally anything you could imagine making! It takes a little bit of a learning curve to learn Ravelry and learn to knit, but they are so worth it! Good luck on your knitting journey! And have fun!
RUclips is a great resource, you just need to know what to search, start out with learning how to cast on then knit and purl stitch you can do a lot with that
That coat is amazing! Did you quilt it yourself or is that how the velvet came? It looks so lux and expensive. Of course I loved everything, but that coat is really stunning. Well done!
that coat and cardigan are so gorgeous! definitely subscribing now !!! thank you so much for this video! i’ve wanted to get back into sewing (just started uni and it’s kicking my butt) and you’ve inspired me to try my hand at making some of my own garments over winter break :)) is there any piece (in general, not just from this video ofc) in particular that you would recommend for beginners? i’ve used a sewing machine a lot in the past but never to make something as complex as a garment ! thanks so much and i can’t wait to watch more of your videos💗💗💗
Yay good for you for getting back into sewing! I think pyjamas are a good place to start. They are still a garment, but there’s less pressure to get them perfect as you’re only going to be sleeping in them 😂 Also, thanks so much for your lovely comment 💕
OMG THE COAT! Can´t wait for this video! Girl i just found you on my YT Home Page and let me tell you: subscribed ✅liked ✅clicked the bell ✅followed on insta ✅and checked out ur shop ✅i love your content and style so much xo from germany 🇩🇪
Thanks! I used my ‘perfect dress pattern’ but just altered it slightly. You can see the making process for it in my ‘recreating outfits from Instagram’ video 😊
Hi there , I have just found your videos and am really enjoying them , I think my favourite is the coat too, but all your makes are beautiful. I am amazed at how many garments you get made . Karen R
I would love to make the cardigan but I have never knitted before 😅 would it be too much of a challenge to start by making one of those? Love your style and wardrobe btw ☺️
It might be a little tricky for a complete beginner I’m afraid... have a try of a scarf first to get the hang of knitting, but it is a good project if you’ve knitted a few items before 😊
So impressive!! How is this the first time I saw your video? Could you update your measurements to know how to alter the patterns, thanks! Amazing wardrobe!
hi I love the cardigan you made !!! right now I only know basic crochet. if I were to make my own jumper or cardigan like yours, is it better to crochet or knit it ?
Wow, what beautiful unique clothes! You really are an artist! Question - where did you find dark floral fabric with small print? Everything I've seen has large patterns which on my 5 foot frame is not the best choice.
I’ve recently found your channel and shared it with my friend. I love all your makes! So inspiring. Do you know where I could purchase the “hero cardigan” pattern? I don’t want the kit. Thanks! (I’m in the US)
I just took the pattern to Office Max and they said it would cost $38.00 to print the pattern and they could not be sure it would be the right size. I would so love to try to make this dress! If you have been able to make it, would you be so kind as to tell me how you were able to print the pattern? Thanks so very much!
The pattern is an A0 sized document (there’s a test square on the pattern that you can check whether it’s the right size or not). To make it most cost effective to print, ask for it to be printed on the thinnest paper available. Hope this helps!
just stumbled across your site - you designed some really gorgeous pieces :) did the velvet already had that lovely stitch design or did you also made that yourself?
That coat is absolutely stunning! You have a lot to be proud of with every one of these items!
Thank you so much! Excited to share more of the coat soon 😊
You’ve inspired me to make my own wardrobe! I used to when I was in high school, but stopped when I started working. I’m definitely going back. I miss having things I love and wear all the time that are unique and handmade.

So true!! Don’t worry my mum’s a knitter so this has been drilled into me, and I only hung it for the video and photos 😊
ahhh so thats why my stuff died

i'm getting there with my own me-made wardrobe and it feels so satisfying! im so proud of myself for getting there. i love yours!
So satisfying isn’t it! 😍
I'm just getting started 🌟. It really feels amazing making your own clothes. I proudly wear my clothes even if they aren't perfect. Great job!
It’s the best feeling! 😍

I’m so inspired! I love that you’ve made a whole wardrobe for yourself! I want to do that!
Thanks! It’s a very satisfying feeling 💕
That cardigan would be great in navy or deep green.
Ooh I love both of those colours!!
Voting for green! I think it'd complement her other clothing nicely ☺
I've been looking for a youtube channel like this forever. Chic but effortless pieces of clothes made with nice fabrics.
Thank you! 💕
That cardigan is wonderful - great job!
Thank you 😊
I LOVE everything you made this season but think my favorite is a tie between the cardigan and the coat. Maybe one day, I will be brave enough to attempt a coat. :)
Thank you! 💕 It was so scary cutting into that beautiful velvet, but I’m so happy with how the coat turned out!
You can do it!
The cardigan in a deep forest green would be amazing.
I have all these wonderful designs for dresses, skirts and trousers in my mind but unfortunately I can't sew to your standard! You're really good at what you do.

Great colour ideas. I can’t wait to make another!

Also, the black checkered blouse.

Thanks so much 💕
Many beautiful pieces in your handmade wardrobe. I love the dresses
That op shop top is wonderful! So perfect on you xo
The knitted item would look nice in turquoise or another blue or cream. Maybe even a sand color, but the blue would suit you as much as the pumpkinish color does.
Yes blue would be lovely! Cream is also a great idea 😊
They are all very lovely, but I have to agree that the coat is my favorite.
