It is fun. I started making my own clothes when I was 8. The satisfaction comes when someone asks where did you buy your clothes and you can answer "I made this" and it is completely unique and it fits, unlike many off-the-peg clothes which just don't fit. I figure if I have to adjust store bought clothes to fit I might as well just make the garment from material I want and the pattern I like.
Your Laura Ashley dress is the pattern I had made up for my 3 bridesmaids in April 1994, except the girls had short sleeves and the dress was in claret. So 1994. Thank you for the memories.
I bought a sewing machine in November and it’s still in the box. You’re inspiring me to learn how to sew, I just need to find the time. Thanks for sharing your awesome content. If I figure sewing out, the Rosa dress is the first garment on my list!
You know we enjoyed your video. I appreciate you sharing your fabulous 👌🏾 garments. They are still so on time in 2023. You are very pretty and your garments match you well. Thank you😀....Always, Sheryll
I still think that your vintage table cloth that you made into a button up shirt is the best, I lovvveeeee the daisy dress I have almost finished my second one and have plans for 2 more,
Loved many of the items! The blouse from a vintage tablecloth, McCalls 7974, the shirred sleeve dress, 3691 Style, the shorter vintage dress from same pattern as long version you didn't like, and the corduroy dress, and the five rectangles dress. Your popcorn sweater is beautiful!
Just like you I love the Popcorn cardigan and the Daisy dress in this beautiful green. Thank you for your enthousiasm, I would love to sew a new wardrobe, so feminine!
So many great makes. My three favourites are your popcorn cardigan, the blouse from tablecloth - the usage of the embroidery was genius and the picnic dress - I love the silhouette.
WELL Done- you are using your skills- not wasting them You ARE living your life. Congratulations- your clothes remind me of the 90s lovely memories Thank You.
I loved this video Janelle, I went and had a look at my own sewing journal after watching this and I have made 20 items in 2021. A variety of dresses, tops, trousers, a long night dress and coat. My journal is so useful as I keep notes so that when I make the pattern again I know what adjustments I need to make or ideas to hack it next time alongside the fabric I used. Happy sewing in 2022 ✂️🧵 x
I think everything you made is absolutely beautiful! but I think one of my favorites is your red gingham picnic dress I am just in love with that so beautiful
All of your garments are lovely…my favorite is the long sleeve dress that has shirring on the waist, sleeves, dress, etc…so dreamy! And, I covet the popcorn sweater…so talented….Be Blessed….
I think the two dresses you are comparing at 13:20 are both beautiful! The longer ones colour isn’t as flattering on you and your colouring, and it’s a tad too long for your frame, it could be hemmed a couple inches shorter for a better length on you. The second shorter dress you are talking about, the colour and length flatter you better. By no means is the longer one bad! It’s beautiful too! And the colour isn’t bad either! Just that the second dress compliments you a little more which may be why you find you like it more. I love all the clothes you make. So gorgeous.
It's a beautiful collection, and your technical skill is excellent. I've been sewing for more than 50 years and sew at a professional level: I can tell when things look homemade and yours do not! You've done a gorgeous job. Bravo!!
I love styles like this. These dresses are so adorable. I used to sew but haven't for a while but still have my sewing machine. I find these styles lovely however some people look at me strangely when I wear them but I don't care. They're one of the styles I like. I enjoy varied fashion. You did a great job on these items. Well made and stylish.
Hard to choose a fave, but oh my goodness, that blouse from a vintage table cloth! Such mastery in the way you worked with the pattern of the cloth. So pretty. And so inspiring. There are so many vintage tablecloths, but so many have a flaw here or there. But in a project like this, I think you could avoid those spots if you plan it all out carefully.
I love altering clothes to make more pleasing/flattering styles, but I’m not in the same sewing universe as Rosary Apparel. Incredible, makes me want to step up my skills.
I love the first two dresses so much. They are very similar in shape (high waisted) to my favourite dress which is more of a tunic length on me, because I am tall. I have done dressmaking in the past, but studying and family life have left me with less time (and space), and it's too long since I made myself clothes. Thanks for the inspiration.
This was such a satisfying video to watch, the colour palette of your wardrobe is amazing! It's a shame you didn't love your longer gingham dress, but I'm so glad you shared this with us, sometimes sewing projects don't work out how I hope and it's good to know I'm not the only one. I'm currently working on a perfect everyday dress too with your Rosa pattern. Excited to see what you come up with in 2022 x
7:59, 8:47-Vintage mccall's 7974, 9:33 Hannah wrap skirt in pink & white with ruffle, 10:32 longer Hannah wrap skirt, 11:10 Daisy puff sleeve dress, 12:21 grey 1/2 puff sleeve, long sleeved, long dress, 12:58 altered vintage pattern with vintage fabric, 13:37 Laurs Ashley 4319 MaCall's vintage pattern in gingham-(I absolutely love this one!), 14:43 black & white gingham baby doll is also totally adorable-15:20 the gingham gathered waist long skirt, I LOVE. I would LOVE to see that slit into Japanese hakama pants, with a simple whote tailored 3/4 sleeve with a vest. I think that would be beautiful. Hakama pants are soooo comfy. They look lile a long skirt, very sophisticated, but are not user friendly, and can be made like a wrap skirt at the waist. Idk if you have anything similar, might be a long gaucho pair of slacks. But being my first time ever seeing any of your videos or anything you've made I'm blown away and totally needing to push myself to get into my file cabinet as I have a row of vintage patterns in it and lots of material to start with. That vintage dress and the beginning that you weren't very impressed with was very flattering on your figure and reminded me of the 1940s or something it was just absolutely adorable. It was one of my absolute favorites. Amd the popcorn sweater was totally cute! I could see that in a milky lt pink or red, or white(to go with more bottoms and dresses. My mind is offically blown and I am thrilled you were a suggestion in my opening you tube feed. I camt wait to try some of these things and get those 2 patterns and get going. You have totally motivated me ! I will have to email you when I have gotten moved and gotten going on some things. Thank you for being such an inspiration. You are bmvery blessed and gifted by God and thabk you so much for sharing your blessings snd inspiring others, like me. May God bless and watch over you now and always 🙏❤️
What a prolific sewing year you have had. I love your jacket lined in gingham and all the dresses made from your patterns. The gingham skirt is also fantastic. So full and pleated.
I think all your pieces are lovely and the one you don’t like actually shows off your figure very well and is very flattering. My favourite is your vintage flowery dress. Well done.
It’s so fascinating to see what color people choose most often when buying fabric for their own garments. I don’t have a lot of it in my wardrobe, but I LOVE a good chartreuse or lime-colored fabric.
I think my top three favorites were the long floral green skirt with a side slit, the beautiful tablecloth blouse, and the mushroom floral dress with the scoop neck. But they are all so beautiful! I can’t wait to dive into more sewing projects this year!
Amazing. I use to sew my own outfit in my early career years and was proud of it back then and over many years the hobby died off. You have inspired me! Thanks for sharing the love.
Oh my days, too many beautiful things to choose from....love them all but if I have to choose a couple of favourites, the blouse out of the tablecloth and the dress from the vintage bedsheet....or maybe the green broderie anglaise dress or the gingham maxi skirt...or maybe....just all of them! Well done Janelle. ❤
So beautiful. The textures, the colors, the obvious excellent workmanship. I’m so impressed and would love to be able to do this! Especially the dresses with pockets.
Well aren’t you clever? My mom was an excellent seamstress. I can only sew a little bit. Your items would have suited me well when I was younger. Makes me want to explore and see if there are any things I can sew now that I’m an older lady. Very impressed by your achievement.
I’ve had so many people reach out with lots of good ideas, but the piping idea is something I really want to try (I’ve not really worked with piping before)! Keen to rework the dress into something I’ll actually wear soon 😊
What a beautiful wardrobe you created! The plaid dress that you do not like too much is lovely. It looks really good on you even if you don't think so. Thanks for sharing :)
Wow! Everything is lovely! Looking forward to watching your other videos and tutorials! This is my second video of yours. Sewing clothes is intimidating but you make it seem easy! I might just have to give it a try again very soon! I especially love the sweater you knitted 😍, the Laura Ashley Dress, and the floral printed dress you chose as one of your favorites. The fabric and details are STUNNING. I was oooing over it as soon as you pulled it from the rack!
So happy you came up in my suggestions! I sent this video to my sister. Love the fit of the vintage McCall dresses. I have a LOT of vintage patterns, I will have to get serious about. Wow. Love them all!!!
I watched this video twice Janelle just so I could drool over your beautiful sewing achievements for 2021. I honestly can't pick a favourite from your collection. You choose your fabrics so well and I do love linen and versatile gingham fabrics. I adore the blouse made from a vintage tablecloth and the Rosa dress using the tablecloth, both look gorgeous on you and they also speak to my reuse, recycle, cut down on waste way of thinking. I am looking forward to making my own daisy dress soon. xx🧡
This wardrobe is incredible! So beautiful and a huge inspiration 🥰 I don't think I've ever seen one that I've adored and wanted every piece in it! Thanks for sharing
Girl, can I just say, you are so talented!!! I am a lot older than you; but I absolutely loved everything that you made. My sixteen year old granddaughter would be obsessed with EVERYTHING you made! Keep it up, and I just subscribed to your channel,so I look forward to watching your videos!!
Wonderful work. I love the colors, and the details. The shirring is beautiful. Puffed sleeves are nice to see. I made lots of puffed sleeves back in the 60’s. Also, I’m happy to see the wide wale corduroy. About time corduroy came back. You knit very well, too.
I have that McCall's dress pattern and plan to start making that dress this week I'm so excited, I love yours in gingham I'll have to try a similar fabric if I make a second!
Hello from Kyoto! It’s so inspiring that you’ve sewn all these items last year. I’ve only recently started sewing myself and I hope to be able to do something as lovely as all the pieces you’ve made here. I think my favourite is the popcorn cardigan. I love the colour and the design is so cute!
Your me-made wardrobe looks amazing! I think that the gingham dress from the vintage pattern (the one that you didn’t like how it turned out) could make a super cute jumpsuit! That way the seam on the middle will integrate to the design. Otherwise, I think that getting enough fabric to remake that panel from the front without the seam is an option too, and fabric from the old panel cam be recycled into smaller projects.
I think it’s beautiful on you and maybe even something as getting rid of the pockets for a smoother silhouette would help. (Getting rid of pockets is so sad, so I k ow you might not want to do that)
@@TheDovesNest 💯% agree with you both. #️⃣1️⃣ Janelle's 2021 Me-Made wardrobe is impressive. #️⃣2️⃣Even the vintage plaid garment looks lovely on her. 🤍Do love pockets, but 🤔 think that dress would flow beautifully over her darling figure without them. 🧐Plus, I would consider adding a center (or side split). 🤍Do love, love, love a tea length dress. It's my jam, but this length can🪓 chop us off😱. It can make almost anyone seem "stumpy🪵", esp. like me when you don't wear heels👠 to help off-set that impression. Not petite like Janelle, but having a low waist on an hourglass⏳ figure does give the unfortunate impression my torso is ⬆️longer⬇️ while my legs are ➡️shorter⬅️. Tea length dresses only make that more obvious🤣. A split in the skirt with a 👀peek-a-boo glimpse of leg counteracts that message. It visually fools the eye👁️👁️ into thinking the legs go on & on above the split too. This simple trick elongates↕️ the overall vertical line. 💚 Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
okay. that's it. 2022 i am officially going to make an entire outfit myself. you've totally inspired me!!! i just love how all of your pieces can 'go together' and mesh so well!
Rosery Apparel 💐 I always enjoy your wardrobe reviews! You make lovely clothes, I wonder if you’ve come up with a pattern for a slip?? They are very hard to find these days and I bet you’d design a great one! Thanks 🙏🏾
I love the vintage hack dress. It looked great on you! It was tighter than what you normally wear but it flatters your figure. I think you should keep it and wear it
Omg the vintage pattern brown Gingham dress that you’re not a fan of is so gorgeous! 😍 I literally gasped when I saw it on you, I just love the way it sits!
I absolutely love watching your videos! You've inspired me to start sewing more pieces that are just for me. I'd be interested in hearing you talk about how you care for your handmade clothes (washing, drying, stain removal, etc). Happy New Year!
I hand wash or use the gentle machine wash for most, and only air dry. I also always wash my fabrics before cutting into them in case they shrink a little on the first wash!
I love your video!!! I so want to learn sawing, is in my bucket list. I learned to knit in the last couple of years, that was another thing I wanted to do, now I want to learn to make clothes for myself and my grand-baby, I hope I can! 😍
Is anyone else just in complete awe of creative people like this? I know I am!
I'm one of those creative peiple- I appreciate handmade things
Yes!!

Your taste is impeccable.. I love that you use second-hand fabric, too! 🥰

Wow I feel antique! Lol☺️
Just imagine I actually made several of those exact Laura Ashley dresses for myself…when the pattern was NEW!😲🤭
It's a beautiful collection, and your technical skill is excellent. I've been sewing for more than 50 years and sew at a professional level: I can tell when things look homemade and yours do not! You've done a gorgeous job. Bravo!!

Definitely orange polka sweater, then sage long sleeve with the textured fabric, then the tablecloth shirt! So unique
What I like the most is, they all dresses and modest dresses 👗 great work!
💐 I think on the brown checked dress that you don’t like: shorten it a lot, on the flat stomach part, make a fake corset look. 😊👍
Beautiful pieces. Love love love the floral vintage dress! 2nd fav is the green layered gathered dress.
Thank you! 🧡

Great video, it really highlights how versatile your patterns are and ideas for pattern hacking them. Looking forward to seeing more in 2022.
Your wardrobe color palette is perfection 👌😍 the smocking and knitting pieces are probably my fave, they're all so cute!!!
Thanks so much! It’s definitely very satisfying to look at them all together like this 😍
@@RoseryApparel yes, so satisfying!! Having clothes arranged by color is so aesthetically pleasing
4319 dress my Mum made that for me in jade green when i was a teenager, It was my fav way back in the 1980's

So inspirational! I have two small boxes of ideas and outfits, many many crop tanks and tops - lets hope I can do it! 🖤🤍
The tablecloth blouse is absolutely beautiful! I love that idea! ❤
Idea about the dress that doesn’t sit quite right-how would it look to add brown piping at the seams? accentuate the pattern lines.
I’ve had so many people reach out with lots of good ideas, but the piping idea is something I really want to try (I’ve not really worked with piping before)! Keen to rework the dress into something I’ll actually wear soon 😊

I love the corduroy dress idea!! I wanna make one!! And the laura ashley with the dipped waist looks amazing on you
such beautiful colors! and of course sewing and styles!!
Aw thanks! I love how they all look together 😍
I love your wardrobe. It's so beautiful and feminine.
They are ALL SO BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you! I’m super proud of them all 🧡
I love everything in your collection. I’m so excited for my first dress also! My sewing machine just came today! 🤩🥰
Very pretty. You certainly have been busy. Thank you for sharing 🙏
I love all of them, they’re pretty, easy to wear, feminine,. You had a very productive year so far look at that rack! Thanks for sharing!! 💕💕
The dress that you don’t like really looks good on you.
Wow! I dropped my jaw a couple of times during this video, absolutely gorgeous work! looks super professional stunning clothes! Great job!
Everything you made is absolutely beautiful the dress you said didn't turn out the way you like to look really nice on you
The one you don't love on yourself it is very flattering on you ! just not the same style like the others
I always love these videos. I'd love to see a full wardrobe tour video.
I love your video!!! I so want to learn sawing, is in my bucket list. I learned to knit in the last couple of years, that was another thing I wanted to do, now I want to learn to make clothes for myself and my grand-baby, I hope I can! 😍
Iam a big fan of dresses.... You are such a creative designer...All the dresses are so beautiful.
