    13:45 "fold going up and down." yes this is key, otherwise it wont sit right. no other video I found explains this small detail. And props to your video framing, you actually kept your hands in frame and I was able to see everything you did. You're a lifesaver!

      I had so much trouble with this part and got it put together but I still get the overload message

      @@marshalllove It sounds like something might not be plugged in all the way or perhaps a faulty flex cable.

    Hands down the best gimbal ribbon install video on the way. Thank you for simplifying the fold process. Other videos made it so complicated that I destroyed one in the process.

      Thank you for the kind comment. my main goal in my videos is to help the viewer understand the process I’m showing. As someone relatively inexperienced with taking electronic components apart, I was confused for a bit too. I make these videos to fill that knowledge gap and help average consumers find success. Thanks again for the comment, It means so much!

    thanks for thje helpful video. What symptom did you have when the ribbon cable was broken? For me the camera is always black, but the gimbal is controlling properly after a crash.

    • @CustomFPV
      @CustomFPV  2 месяца назад

      I would look for physical damage in your connections to know what is broken. If your gimbal is working, chances are there isn’t any issues or breaks with the ribbon cable. It’s possible that the reason you’re not getting any image is because your camera wire is broken. It’s a MIPI cable with a bunch of tiny strands, so if just one breaks that would do it. but it’s also possible that the camera itself is broken, this would be most likely the case if it took a direct impact in the crash

      @@CustomFPV thank you. I'm replacing the ribbon cable - probably not necessary in hindsight, and I've ordered the video cable. The camera appears to be all ok so hopefully it's the cable. I've also had the uncertainty of software updates and controller to phone cable being flakey.

    Hi bud I just wanted to say a massive thank you I managed to get mine working again with a replacement flex so happy they charge a fortune in Australia to get them repaired

    I’ve watched lots of videos on assembling the gimbal ribbon. Few if any do a good job showing the reassembly well. However you did a fairly decent job. I’ve done quite a few cables recently and the reason for this is that I’ve been buying them of eBay in Australia and the eBay ribbons simply don’t work apart from providing good practice. Maybe one in ten work, so I got lots of practice. My advice is stay away from cheap ribbons on eBay. I’m not sure about amazon ribbons but they’re probably the same. I think this is one of the times you stick to genuine parts. They are more expensive but they work.

      Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad my video helped! Yeah I agree. I’ve done about 5 of these repairs, with aftermarket ribbons. They can be hit or miss, but i’ve been pretty lucky to have each one work every time for me. for 10$, it’s hard to beat! Thanks for Watching!

    I have replaced the ribbon cable and problem was solved (so I thought), after few hours in the pouch tried to go flying, and the problem returned. Ribbon was purchased from DJI for 35$. What else could be wrong, can you tell?

    • @CustomFPV
      @CustomFPV  4 года назад +1

      It is a very delicate repair, I would go back over your work and see if any of the pad connectors came undone. Other than that it is pretty hard to tell.

      @@CustomFPV I have flown it now, first time after 2 minutes of flight gave me gimbal error message, restarted it and flown all 3 batteries to 10% without any issues, even used sport mode to rape the gimbal, works fine. I have noticed that if aircraft is upside down, and you move the gimbal it rubs of the small holder for the vibration plate (turned off of course), don't know if it should rub on it.

      Sanel Libic That is good news. Hopefully it keeps working. at the end of the day it is a diy repair to get you out of spending hundreds shipping it back to dji. In terms of the rubbing... not sure what’s up with that. Thankfully the drone doesn’t fly upside down!

    This helped me a lot. Successfully installed the new gimbal cable. I powered it on and it still had the same behavior. So I disassembled it and double check every connection. Now the gimbal doesn’t power on and I get no video feed.

    • @CustomFPV
      @CustomFPV  4 года назад +1

      Joey Villa Hmmm. It could be your cables, gimbal, or gimbal control board. This is a very delicate job so even the smallest mistake can throw it off. I would triple check for any tears in the ribbon, or broken wires in the video cable. Then look at the pins on each of the gimbal motors. those are easily damaged when popping off connection pads. If it’s not any of those, It may be your gimbal board. inspect it and smell for a burnt smell, or look for fried components. It could still be damaged even if those signs aren’t present however those signs are common. Also, check your power connection between the board and the drone (that powers the camera and gimbal). Hope that helps. Let me know. If it’s none of that you may want to go get it looked at by the pros. Thanks for watching!

      Same here. Original problem was "gimbal overload" and now I have error with the front sensors, error with video feed as well as gimbal overload. I can still see the video feed but it looks terribly washed out and there is no gimbal movement

      @@CustomFPV It's not the fast speaking so much as it is your fumbling figgity fingers obfuscating the directional vectors of the ribbons, cables and sometimes the port where they belong to. Then when it comes to an important junction of how to reassemble the cam and gimbal to the first board, never mind the rest, you obviously run out of patience and tell your 'students' to reverse engineer the rest. Pretty lazy. Reminds me of when I was 16 writing C++ and trying to teach others but when I hit a wall, a wall called "Whatever, I'm bored of this now, let them figure out the reset how to save themselves from this point on. Kinda like going on a hike through the Amazon, then getting a lift back in a helicopter, telling my students, just retrace your steps.LOL. I grew out of that quickly when I started working in the real world, in high tech companies like NYSE/Euronext, Inspired Gaming - making hardware and software for gambling machines used around the world. Worked for Philips in a department that processed Medical Scans, i.e. all the known apparatus and testing pioneering image analysis in real time mostly for surgeons and Radiology consultants. Writing reports and all the documentation aimed at the layman (the not so technically gifted doctors, consultants etc. If you're going to do something, anything, especially something instructional, like a "how to", please at least make the effort to finish the presentation. Any serious company would fire you on the sport if this is how you operate. Something for you to think about. It might boost you're viewership and much more.
      This sort of presentation no doubt has frustrated many people, rookies of drones/IT/Engineering... and especially their disassembly and reassembly. Also seems like this video is inverted which doesn't help the average user. Now I#m going to have to edit this vid. Remove your instructional voice. Slow down where necessary, reverse the disassembly to see if anything there could be salvaged to instruct a general user about re-assembly.
