As a Buckeye fan, It is abundantly clear to me that we have a long year of bad coaching/play calling ahead of us. As you said, too much running sideways and not enough north-south. And another long year of the defensive backfield giving up big plays because the Defensive line can't get to the QB. Ryan Day...a recruiter of the best talent but can't get that talent to translate into results on the field. Michigan and Penn State are executing at a much higher level of efficiency. We're looking at 3 loses (at least) this year...ND, PSU and Michigan.
Great show and I'm really happy Colorado is on the rise. Don't think the Buckeyes will have that great of a season, the O-Line is a weakness right now. They better not sleep on Western Kentucky, they are the C-USA favorites and an offensive machine. This is the CLASSIC look-ahead game with the road game @ Notre Dame next week.
That 2017 Penn State-Ohio State games is one of my favorite games of all time. Me and my whole family are Buckeye fans and I remember the date of that game was October 28th my birthday was on the 20th my sisters was on the 26th well on the 27th my grandmother unexpectedly passed away and my whole family was absolutely devastated but that game and winning the way we did was a great moment in what was a bright moment in what was otherwise a dark time for me and my family. You can believe in whatever you want but personally I like to think my Grandma was helping her Buckeyes get the win to ease some of our pain.
Let's be honest nobody's going to focus on them because they play one of the worst Power 5 schedules in the country and are the defending Champions. It's basically cruise control and if they are even remotely challenged in the fourth quarter this season they should be penalized. They would be arguably one of the biggest let Downs in modern history if they somehow lose
You are perfect in your commentary of our Buckeyes. We love you in Columbus, in fact many would love you coaching or being an analyst for the Buckeyes. We are all concerned because as you stated, the stats speak for themselves. Right now we can't beat Notre Dame, Penn St, nor Michigan as we are playing. We fans get upset because when our players sign to play at Ohio State the local news media make them supermen as do the coaches. Yeah this dude that just signed is a 5 star a stud. Well, the last several years we never beat the teams that were equal in talent to us, just the weak ones. We did get ready for just one game with a couple weeks to prepare last year and that was Georgia which I feel we won 2 1/2 to 3 quarters of the game. So if these guys are studs coming in then the problem has to be a coaching issue or schemes. I agree we need to run between the tackles, Zeke and Dobbins did it and were successful. Simmons our new tackle has been struggling some. McCord has been missing wide open receivers because he gets locked on one, probably hearing alot of defense feet around him so is anxious because needs more reps like you said. I watch the replays when they show him more often than not he is only reading two areas not 3 or 4 as he should. Great commentary Hope to see you around the Shoe, just another buckeye fan as well as your fan.
I still get goosebumps thinking about the 2021 Michigan/ohio, Crisp fall day, electric atmosphere, bitter hated rivals, Winner take all, a coaches job literally on the line, nerves, the outpouring of emotion, the celebration... it had it all.

You are forgetting not all 19-20yr old children learn the same or at the same pace. Just because Usain Bolt can run a 9.53 second 100m doesn’t mean other sprinters can do the same. It’s illogical to expect all college quarterbacks to be at Caleb Williams level immediately.

Beating Texas A&M is a barometer for "being back"? Wow. Easily the most overrated program in college football for 20+ years. They're preseason ranked every year, then go 8-4 and haven't played for a conference title in 25 years.
Why would you say that to Georgia. Their expectations of winning a national championship are completely reasonable. They've lost 1 game in the last two years where they played 15 games each season. 29-1 in two seasons is like FSU from 2012-2014
@@wesleyowens4089 never said they are not unreasonable this year but all the big teams that have traditionally been in the natty have fans that expect it every year-not just Ohio State-that was my point/I fully expect Georgia to win the natty this year

To say “there are 6-7 QBs in the PAC-12 that would start at every program in the SEC” is one of two things. #1 Joel has not seen a single snap from Carson Beck at UGA. Or #2 he is saying we don’t know enough yet. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt and saying he means #2. But his quote is WAY off
Where Ohio State is today reminds me of where Michigan was in 2017 - 2018. They did great until they ran into a team they couldn’t out-talent. That was usually OSU, ironically. Makes for interesting dynamics going into the end of the year, and into the coming realignment.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The PAC 12 has won nonconference games they were favored to win outside of Colorado over TCU. We'll see if TCU is worth a darn this year, because IMHO they lost a lot to the draft and sorry to say but TCU is not a program that can just reload from that. Nebraska is trash so that's nothing big.
We don't have quarterbacks in the SEC right now. And we also don't have cornerbacks and free safety's. At least LSU doesn't and that's my team I don't think Alabama really has a quarterback and like us they don't have a secondary right now. They have one of our past failed head defensive coordinators Kevin Steele now as their defensive coordinator
It’s almost as if the PAC12 didn’t have two weak teams lose to weak SEC teams. Sure, Utah beat the 13th best SEC team, so that must prove it’s the superior conference. Klatt has a financial interest in the success of the teams in the conferences he covers at Fox. I’d take this conversation with a grain of salt.
He mentions SEC destroying the other teams in thr Past but no one mentions thise games were ALWAYS home games for the SEC. UGA played OR in Atlanta. They NEVER went on the road to play a top team
The SEC fanboys are the only ones complaining about NIL. I'm quite happy the SEC isn't able to pay players under the table and get away with it anymore, now they can all pay players.
Funny that i mentioned the same things on the defensive line as an Ohio state fan.... These Buckeye pages on Facebook are the worst.... Most just watch highlights and can't see the big picture.....
Joel Klatt! Good job categorizing all Ohio State fans into one category. I’m sorry you hang around immature college students and you’re not mature enough to realize that. So you’re a subjective analysis!
Do remind us how right you are at the end of the bowl season. Maybe you will be right, but two weeks doesn't make a season or the best QBs. My gut says this video is mostly clickbait, but hey, maybe you believe it. ;)
Nailed it on Ohio State having to run up the middle because the linemen aren't real agile . However when the defense knows you're gonna run the blocking isn't good enough yet to get 3 yards in a cloud of pellets .
Food for thought if the PAC 12 is so deep and good, and this and that then why are they they migrating to other conferences? A few teams are going to the big ten and to the big 12 what’s up with that?
THE REIGN OF CHAMPIONS in college football is cyclical. ALABAMA LSU and GEORGIA would not be the power house they became IF USC did not get sanctioned amd to a lesser degeee a school like MIAMI did not circle the drain. THE SEC had a major advantage as COLLEGE FOOTBALL reign supreme in those area. This became the hot bed for not only recruits but also STAFF and personnel. Better pay opportunity and in Sabans case mentorship. WITH NIL in play…. The field has been leveled in a blonk of an eye. Talents from CALIFORNIA and Florida will reconsider schools like USCs and MIAMI OR FSUs offer. In the early 2000s both USC and MIAMI had all the talents stacked in their favor with PETE CARROL running USCS AND Jimmy Johnsons Legacy left to Larry Cocker. And a decade earlier both BOBBY BOWDEN FSU and STEVE SPURRIER FLORIDA who in turn left it to URBAN MYER. As uou can see ALABAMA got beat by 2 score in their home field simoly because their QB play was platry. While a school like USC has the reigning HEISMAN and has the top QB from last years class and eventually have a commit with the top QB in 2 years. While this yewrs top QB went to GEORGIA USC was the first chiice if not for the croweded room. This a trikle down effect. And ADD to that the BIG 10 will eventually field the best schools in the league with the PAC 12 powerhouses joining the league.
LSU was already being a power house before USC got sanctioned in 2010. I agree with USC"s sanctioned giving Bama and Georgia a chance to take over And as far as what you said about USC is true, those defenses they have are BADDDDDDDDD. Need to clean that up or they're not winning the Pac-12
McCord was 250 and 3 TDs in the first half; had a great far hash TD throw to Marvin taken off the board (incorrectly) at IU. He'll be fine. Everyone "oooing" and "aahhhing" at Michigan with nearly 100% of their offense returning for 2023 has scored 7 more points against ECU and UNLV. OSU will be fine.

Go Blue!
Joe klatt Ohio state fan boy
Georgia fans don’t care that no one’s talking about the dawgs now just as long as y’all are talking about them at the end of the year 🐶
Let's be honest nobody's going to focus on them because they play one of the worst Power 5 schedules in the country and are the defending Champions.
OHIO STATE fanbase is so derranged they are going to start driving away talent.
That rose bowl hat is elite! Glad we got an answer to where it’s from and hopefully we can get our hands on them! I’ve been searching since the Monday pod 😂
I'm a buckeye fan and I agree with you Joel, there's tons of buckeye fans that have been spoiled and want things running perfectly 100% of the time and start getting impatient but this team will grow and turn things up
Buckeye fan here. I agree but I see a 9-3 team. With the losses to Notre Dame Penn State and Michigan.
@@kyleholloway6961 10-2. Notre Dame isn't that good.
I’m not buying the “rep” argument with McCord . Other QBs are doing just fine with no college reps.
You are forgetting not all 19-20yr old children learn the same or at the same pace. Just because Usain Bolt can run a 9.53 second 100m doesn’t mean other sprinters can do the same. It’s illogical to expect all college quarterbacks to be at Caleb Williams level immediately.
@@Thedus12 Ohio State is an elite program. The goal is a National Championship …not a participation trophy!

Ohio State is not elite this year and will go 9-3, said this all off season and people are starting to come around
People shouldn’t be coming around so early, they haven’t played anybody worth talking ab
Joel, love your youtube channel! I've lived in Asia for 44 years, so it's fun to have your show. Talking about atmosphere, have you ever been to the FL swamp? Or at Notre Dame? Both great & electric atmospheres. At ND you feel your in the sacred birthplace of college football!
Joel - you are right on with your analysis. OSU has to improve in many ways quickly to have the season we fans expect.
good point on OSU Joel. they also lost to Vtech in 2015 when they won the championship
They won the championship in 14 but you are correct
Yes! Rose Bowl hat! It should say “Grandaddy of them all.”
The interest is in the normal powers falling off. I for one am tired of the days where Alabama can not win their conference, not even appear in the title game and still make the playoff.
I am already tired of the CU hype as well. There will be a scandal as the players buy into their “gift from god” anointing.
Best in Conference top 10.1.Texas(B12)
2.FSU(ACC)

Beating Texas A&M is a barometer for "being back"? Wow. Easily the most overrated program in college football for 20+ years. They're preseason ranked every year, then go 8-4 and haven't played for a conference title in 25 years.
Ohio state is a run first team now. Thet went full lil bro to Michigan 😂
You got to get Hampton to let you write your on promo dude.
Joel and Greg McElroy are on point! Keep on truckin’ fellas!
Miami isn't back until we win another natty. We're on the right path though
I'm a Big 12 guy Klatt but I do love that rose bowl hat and would love to be able to buy one.
Please don’t overgeneralize to all Buckeye fans having “out-sized expectations” Also make sure you state this for Bama, Georgia, Texas, Clemson etc
Why would you say that to Georgia. Their expectations of winning a national championship are completely reasonable. They've lost 1 game in the last two years where they played 15 games each season. 29-1 in two seasons is like FSU from 2012-2014
@@wesleyowens4089 never said they are not unreasonable this year but all the big teams that have traditionally been in the natty have fans that expect it every year-not just Ohio State-that was my point/I fully expect Georgia to win the natty this year
You do have to admit that we have tons of buckeye fans too spoiled and impatient which leads to them complaining all the time.... we'll be good and get things together and start rolling
@@Lanny-io9bi true but we are huge and loud fanatics is what you hear from most teams and I believe they loud ones are the minority-also never heard Joel make same statement for other teams-hit me wrong and came off patronizing
@@lisascherer527 I understand where you are coming from and I agree 👍 go buckeyes!
But his quote is WAY off
27:28 add....none of those teams, that the SEC lost to within non-conference play, were a Big Ten team as well
Where Ohio State is today reminds me of where Michigan was in 2017 - 2018.
At least LSU doesn't and that's my team
I don't think Alabama really has a quarterback and like us they don't have a secondary right now.
If Ohio State "wins ugly" against Notre Dame, I'll shut up. Until then, I'll say McCord is only decent, and our o-line needs to get way better fast.
Onward Notre Dame
Don't think bo nix is a good example of good QB. He's 45, started at Auburn and couldn't pass more then 10 yds per throw 😂
Joel Klatt easily my fav CFB analyst
Do remind us how right you are at the end of the bowl season. Maybe you will be right, but two weeks doesn't make a season or the best QBs. My gut says this video is mostly clickbait, but hey, maybe you believe it. ;)
Love my buckeyes regardless
yessss sirrrr ❤️ Go Bucks!!
buckeyes have some strong running backs, Ryan Day needs to put them up the middle. Also, as a buckeye fan, buckeye fans are the absolute worst lmao
Joel is a real ball enthusiast. I wish all analysts were former players at some high level/college
Nailed it on Ohio State having to run up the middle because the linemen aren't real agile . However when the defense knows you're gonna run the blocking isn't good enough yet to get 3 yards in a cloud of pellets .
BS! Due to Coaches who GET QBs! Pac 12 tripped into top coaches which didn't happen in past! Same at Kansas!!
Crazy to think that the best qb in the sec this season is spencer rattler, every other qb has a question mark

I like to think that Brian Kelly’s dumb offense has broken two different SEC powerhouses.
This guy says the most obvious stuff with an authoritative voice. Almost sounds like a comedian doing a sports analyst bit.
Food for thought if the PAC 12 is so deep and good, and this and that then why are they they migrating to other conferences? A few teams are going to the big ten and to the big 12 what’s up with that?
Yesss I love those hats😂
How did I guess that he would say the greatest atmosphere of them all was at the largest football stadium in America?
Wrong! A successful season for OSU is beating ttun. Anything else is gravy.
We are a bit crazy but as Craig Krenzel once said when we stop being passionate we become Wisconsin.
THEEEE INTENSITY & URGENCY Left with Urban Meyer.
Who misses the old Joel klatt show theme song 😢🙋♂️
Ohio State has the best 3rd down playmaker in the country, they will be just fine
They lost their OC Kevin Wilson to Tulsa as HC. Have to factor that. Very talented OC.
I agree, I hate the stretch run.
Tressel Ball this year
Nobodies talking about Georgia because they haven't played a real game yet
Or Josh Gaddis is a really bad O coordinator which has proven to be true the last couple spots he has landed.
Joe Klatt is probably well he is the best colelege football analyst there is in the nation. Brutally honest.
I agree with USC"s sanctioned giving Bama and Georgia a chance to take over
And as far as what you said about USC is true, those defenses they have are BADDDDDDDDD. Need to clean that up or they're not winning the Pac-12
Joel needs to wipe his mouth after talking about OSU
McCord was 250 and 3 TDs in the first half; had a great far hash TD throw to Marvin taken off the board (incorrectly) at IU. He'll be fine. Everyone "oooing" and "aahhhing" at Michigan with nearly 100% of their offense returning for 2023 has scored 7 more points against ECU and UNLV. OSU will be fine.
Right, and we really don't know how good Indiana is. Will find out Sat against Louisville.
Mich literally played their third strings after half against unlv
Michigan stopped playing the starters in the second half lol
Michigan's HC wasn't coaching, big difference.
@@theechoproject899 don't need a HC when you have a cupcake schedule - all of Michigan's opponents are bottom feeders 90th or worse in FPI. woof.
