Thank you for covering this overlooked sub genre. There were very few "good" Skinemax films but there were some worth watching for just how crazy they were.
The 90s were a simpler time and I missed movies like this. We didn't have cinemax in my country but occasionally would get something like this as a late night movie. Or my older brother would rent it. Half the fun of it all was being too young to watch them and finding ways without getting busted. Everything was an adventure for a teenage boy in the 80s and 90s.
The first time I saw her, around the time I saw They Live but in another movie, _AUTOMATICALLY_ memorized by her eyes! It's no exaggeration when I say the first time I saw her I forgot all about the movie I was watching and my full attention was on her eyes. Absolutely STUNNING! I ALWAYS loved seeing her in a movie simply for her eyes. I couldn't tell you _anything_ about her acting. 😅
I see this and remember the covert mission every weekend to keep the digital cable box powered on, bypassing the parental locks that reset at midnight. It’s deserving of some sort of medal.
an actress that really stood out for me from those glorious 80's/90's and early 2000's is Gabriella Hall. she was in some great movies, imo, and one title stands out even though she was just a minor character in it, is full body massage. some many good titles and actresses i hope won't be forgotten.
I worked at a mom n' pop video store as a teen in the early 90s. An interesting tidbit of forgotten trivia is that many of these types of movies had their own unofficial rating on their case. Many were labeled as Hard-R, and our shop even had a designated shelf for them between the action flicks and the door to the adult section. While it wasn't a rating given out by the MPAA, home video/rental distributors would label these movies as such to indicate that they were much more sexually graphic than the typical R movie, but not explicit enough to earn an X. I believe they could also earn the label for extra violence as well, but I'm pretty certain all the ones we had were due to sex. Some franchises I remember being there were the Gator Bait series, the Emmanuelle series, and let's not forget the Ilsa series - an ultra-cheap nazi/military fetish franchise.
anybody else fell into the myth that there were x-rated versions of all of these movies shown in Europe and that they were toned down for release in the US.
Im glad these films are getting the exposure they needed since these flicks were RARELY seen in the public eye. The surprise of these films is...they're not terrible films if the story can get its point across. I value this time period of films where grown adults were vulnerable enough to just experiment themselves in life. Thats why often times, theres something human about it all. Those are my thoughts. Merry XXXmas, everybody. 🎅
Good call Cecil!!! I've seen all of these and I'm glad that Shannon Whirry finally got some credit on the channel. Keep up the great work, especially the meticulous research...
Wow!!! 2, count 'em 2 GBF videos this week, & both about the Skinemax era!!! These are the flicks, I used to watch really late at night, on weekends, with the volume down ultra low, so my parents wouldn't hear, LMAO!! Cecil, my man, you should continue this softcore tv movie trend, & cover those early to mid 2000s Seduction Cinema films, that usually always starred Misty Mundae, Darian Cane, etc. I was an adult, by the time those came out, but caught them every time they were on TV, cause of all the HLA!!! Also, don't forget about my request to cover the Legend of Boggy Creek, for a future exploring episode.
I just went a little crazy for Lynda Wiesmeier and bought the blu-ray of Malibu Express. Love her so much. (Unfortunately Evil Town, which had a ton of great toplessness from her, is far too expensive.)
I remember Lisa Boyle was one of first in that genre that embraced the early internet. When I was a kid she had a great website full of pictures and clips. I think even then you had to be a subscriber to see the nude pics and other stuff. Before IMDB, she put everything she was in on her site. Every movie, tv show, commercial and music video. I remember she was in the Nutty Professor and in a Warren G video.
The one I remember out of the 100s I saw is Witches of Breastwick. I loved the short brunette witch. I didnt even remember Stormy Daniels was in it until I saw a blurb about it a few years ago.
I used to sneak out to the living room in the middle of the night just to watch these. That's how I learned about sex since my parents never wanted to talk about it.
Undercover Heat was a staple in the mid 90’s, and I know it well along with much of Shannon Whirry’s filmography. There was a rental store in Mokena, Illinois near where I used to work that still rented out VHS tapes, including these types of flicks. They’re still around but hanging by a thread after nearly 40 years. I know Full Moon did an HD remaster for Undercover Heat. I’m surprised they didn’t put it out on disc. They’ve done a few with that soft core catalog.
Another batch of interesting movies, nice video, especially for this particular genre of b movies. Wonder if one of these days you'll bring up "Virtual Girl" 😁
I've been a martial artist for over 40 years, and I'm not sure I've ever heard Krav Maga so spectacularly mispronounced... But kudos to you for doing your research. I've actually trained Krav Maga, (briefly), yet I had no idea that Aikido was a part of its standard curriculum. I guess you learn something new everyday. :)
I noticed that the director of photography on the Animal Instincts films is Wally Pfister. He went on to do the Dark Knight trilogy and won an Oscar for "Inception."
The Night Eyes series was sold via mail away marketed to women. The production firm was the first major success directly marketing soft core to women on the down low.
2:13 Boooo! Boo IOF (But ofc). Haha, I had to, sorry (notsorry - don't @ me, apologists). ~2:42 You're - definitely not wrong. Good stuff as usual, GBF! 👍 I have to say, my favorite of your recent stuff in this vein - probably one of my favorites in general - was your Exploring video on Forbidden Science. Banger of a video! And it was my introduction to Noelle DuBois (Grey?), who is just 😍😍. Haha. She seems like a lovely person.
Oh, I have fond memories of these films from this time period of skinemax. My Mount Rushmore of actresses were Lisa Boyle, Maria Ford, Amber Newman and Lorissa McComas.
This vid will prolly be Plenty entertaining, but I just want to reiterate how great that forbidden science video was. I swear the creators of.altered carbon, plus a plethora(i'm fancy)of other creators of recentish great shows Had to be inspired by that series. Thanks again for ur work.
Love your videos Cecil! As a fan of skinemax because well that was what I watched when I was a kid there are two actresses I fell in love with back then one was griffin drew who sadly passed away and the other is misty mundae
I mentioned Emanuelle in Space in my Sexy Shows video from earlier in the year. One of the best of these by far. Fantastic production value and Krista Allen.
Thankfully I can say I never saw these growing up. My mom got ride of the cable when we figured out how to use the VCR to record morning cartoons and was afraid we might start watching any thing/everything we shouldn't. When I was old enough to get my own cable subscription. I tried keeping it basic, because I had bills. If I needed to Cable was the first thing I'd cut. Meaning no Subscription channels or PPV programing.
A generation of people grew up on these, and in some ways, I feel had a lot of influence. Ken Steadman died while filming an episode of Sliders. He was a great part of the episode, which had a Mad Max theme to it. I remember reading they expanded his role due to how well his character was portrayed. They added a memorial shot at the end of that episode.
You never know when a good O&A reference appears, but on this channel, I know it's always good! 😂 You think maybe she took the name Cassandra Lee because (in some angles) she sort of looked like Tia Carrere?
Okay, Cecil, now we're getting into some of the films that I'm not proud to admit I saw. When it came to the 1990's, erotic thrillers were everywhere from cable to VHS rental. I do know that I saw "Night Eyes 1-3" and "I Like To Play Games". The undercover female cop films I saw I can't say for sure were the ones you mentioned. I do remember "Final Embrace" and "Victim Of Desire" (w/Marc Singer). That film had a great final scene tribute to Mickey Spillane's "I, The Jury".
Eh, these are just some fine cheeky entertainment. Nothing wrong with a little titilation for the viewer. I miss these days because now, we are inundated with hardcore porn and as I said in the Forbidden Science videos, these films by comparison are considered tame. (which they really are)
You mentioned the sequels for all the other films, but weirdly didn't mention "I Like to Play Games Too" which is actually the only one of these I've seen.
Gregory Dark, hm...oh, he's also directed some music videos, but I mostly know him for directing the 2006 horror slasher See No Evil starring WWE wrestler (THAT'S GOTTA BE) Kane.
"had to"... research... for science! Almost literally!
If you need data, I did a ton of research back in the 90's lol😅
Love it.....😊😅😂
"It's not porn! I'm watching a drama!"-Cinemax viewer.
"It's not porn! I'm watching RUclips!"- GoodBadFlicks viewer.
Thank you for covering this overlooked sub genre. There were very few "good" Skinemax films but there were some worth watching for just how crazy they were.
I imagine the excuses Cecil gives to his wife to watch these movies.
"It's for the RUclips channel, dear!" 😅😅😅
The Skinemax days was my teenage years. Illicit Lovers, The Naked Detective, and Bikini Carwash were some of my favorites.
Mine too. Some of these movies I bought at Blockbuster and Hollywood video stores. LOL.
takin it off is the greatest moving ever made. according to thirteen year old me
You know, GoodBadFlicks turned into a hardcore sex channel so gradually, I didn't even notice. 😆
GoodBadFliXXX
Good, you've been bad, Flixxx!
Two videos out of HUNDREDS, yep it's DEFINITELY a hardcore sex channel.
I DID notice that you're a joke, uh you MADE a joke.😑
To be fair these are all softcore
@@Leon-zu1wp i swear some ppl would take the fun out of a good lay.
'Also starring David Carradine.' Those four words that make me say: 'that's going on the list.'
Body Chemistry. Criminal Passion. Fleshtone. Illegal In Blue. Last Call. Night Rhythms.
Original Sin. Sins Of The Night. Tropical Heat.

"It was pretty great"- Cecil, 2024. Happy Holidays!!!
Merry Boobmas!
A softcore film with a main character named "Emmanuelle"? Yeah, they knew what they were doing.
100%
Meg Foster's eyes are amazing.
Comes from wearing those alien filter shades.
The first time I saw her, around the time I saw They Live but in another movie, _AUTOMATICALLY_ memorized by her eyes!
It's no exaggeration when I say the first time I saw her I forgot all about the movie I was watching and my full attention was on her eyes.

She'll always be Evil-Lyn to me
She improves any movie she appears in.

Lisa Boyle was always a welcome sight, regardless of the quality of the movie.
Shannon Whirry was my late night cable in the 90s crush. I watched all her movies. And actually she did put out some decent stuff.
She looks like she could be Christy Canyon's sister.
I remember when I first saw Undercover Heat. It was december 1997. The reason why I remember this is Athena Massey 💛
Had to look over my shoulder before clicking

I can only aspire to this

Not gonna lie, I saw about half of these. In the pre-internet days, these were as good as they got.
Dude, WTF MAN. Why are you putting my childhood out for everyone to see. lol love this
lol
{0:39} - Those were the good old Days!...
(4:27) - My Personal Favorites!!!... 😏😉😘😎
Shannon Whirry! * SWOON!! *
Out of all the softcore ladies of that time period, I thought she had the best body. Stunner.
LOVE ME!! some Skinemax!! Shannon Tweed is my favorite actress from that era.
She went onto do voice work for Spongebob of all things.
@ Did she really?! 🤣🤣🤣 that’s hilarious
I just love these kinds of movies. Not only have I seen all 5 of these, I own them on VHS still.
You, sir, are a true man of culture. 😎👍

Aight, time for Christmas shopping for the 90's nostalgia... thanks Cecil!
A Ramone reference AND a quincy reference? It must be Christmas
Greatly appreciate including the list of movie titles to make... my future research... easier to find. Thank you!
Glad, to know that I am not the only one who misses these.

"Over the past few months, I had to immerse myself in a ton of movies from the Skinemax era of cable."
"Had to"? You mean "got to". :)
It was a pleasure indeed
Guy has to watch tons of soft core movies and his verdict is: "I have to admit, it was pretty great". You don't say.
Its a tough job but someone has to do it.
Thank You for your unbounded dedication Cecil.
THIS is what I look for when I thrift at second hand stores. Finding one is like finding gold. Thanks, C.
It's a filthy job, but Cecil is "up" for the challenge. :D
As opposed to downbad for the challenge?
The 90s were rough. We didn't have the internet, but thank you Baby Jesus that you gave us Night Eyes 2!
I was quite partial to 3 because redheads
@GoodBadFlicks Catching 2 and 3 back-to-back on the Movie Channel late on a Sunday night was fine. 😋

‘Lord of the G Strings’ was the only heavy petting movie at our local Hollywood Video.
It was notorious in the neighbourhood! XD
I remember that one! Cinemax had a lot of Misty Mundae movies.
A saucy christmas for everyone!

Hey,that's right. LOL. The plot and the motivations of the characters also.

They had a lot of very attractive actresses in those games

Much like horror movies, many talented people get their start with these kinds of films. Some will often work under a pseudonym.
Jennifer Burton, Monique Parent, Shannon Tweed, Shannon Whirry. Life was good.
Emmanuelle in Space with Krista Allen
Joan Severance
Julie Strain.
Tracy Scoggins.

When DVDs became cheap to manufacture, so many of these movies started filling $4.99 bargain bins. That's how I saw most of these.
Gonna need a part 2 on Skinemax classics 😅. Animal instincts didn't deserve to be as good as it was with as beautiful of a woman as Whirry
Damn sure this will soon be one of the most watched videos on this channel…
Would be nice. I need a little extra to help pay for Christmas presents
I appreciate the Ramone reference.

its wild seeing a Jimmy reference from O&A in 2024

Play Time is one of the best. Jennifer Burton ftw

Undercover Heat by a mile, head and shoulders above the rest.
