4:59 Fun Fact: The male game show host is played by Koichi Yamadera who is a famous voice actor in Japan who's done Spike Spiegel, Zenigata, Beerus and etc.
If I remember right, the cutting framerate during the battle was actually an attempt to show how Megaguirus sees things, so basically low framerate, she sees things slow with her hyperspeed.
Both a new AVGN episode and a Brandon Tenold Godzilla episode drops on the same day? Its like an early Christmas. Hope you have a merry Christmas Brandon
Yeah really good though sadly it's not all rainbow and sunshine since there's news of strikes involving Amazon and Starbucks really have to rethink or get what you still can before things get worse. Anyway really look it up and spread the word.
I normally save your videos as workout videos but I'm being a good boy this Chrismas so I'm watching this one now. On a more serious but more positive note. It's almost 6 years since my cancer diagnosis and I was really fortunate with my surgery, chemo and the support I got. I watched your channel at that point anyway but there were 4 channels that I leaned on heavily during my treatment. I still remember sitting in the hospital watching your Godzilla videos. While I won't claim that your channel saved my life or anything, it did make those tougher days easier to deal with. Thank you so much for that. I hope you and everyone else has a great Christmas.
I like to think that directly after the freezeframe of the end credit scene, the Kenny was obliterated by a burst of Godzilla's thermonuclear death-breath.. Godzilla's way of repaying that little bastard for all the trouble Megaguirus caused him.
I think this is one of the more underrated godzilla films. It’s the last godzilla film that felt and was genuinely original with it’s concepts and Megaguirus is a rad monster. I don’t agree with the cgi criticism, as I think it looks fine given the time, CGI in films and shows like this were never that high compared to what the rest of the world could do. Compared to the stiff animatronics in godzilla vs mothra, the megaguirus puppet and fight is way less stiff looking by comparison. Also Like the Ultraman Jet comment on the griffon, cause this whole movie honestly looks aesthetically like an ultraman show from that period.
Minus One is amazing but I would have popped the previous entry, Shin Godzilla, up on the screen myself lol That's really the movie where they finally nailed the CGI down. Apparently they initially tried to use a suit actor for Shin, but the CGI was so good even the suit actors thought the CGI was better at imitating a guy in a suit than an actual guy in a suit was at being a guy in a suit.
The plot is silly and the humans are meh, but this one is a guilty pleasure for the monster action. Megaguirus is one of my favorite kaiju, if only they had waited until their CGI was better and they could have made her use her super-speed abilities more liberally and with better effect. She's really good in the Pipeworks game, fast and strong and able to steal an enemy's health, weapon energy, and even their breath/beam weapon like a monster Mega Man. And I really like the music for the final battle. Speaking of the Gryphon, if you haven't already you need to check out the fan-made video of the Gryphon fighting Godzilla Junior and Legendary Godzilla, it's awesome.
I want to thank you Brandon, your content helped me very much when my grandfather passed, you two have the exact same sense of humor, when I watch, you, I remember him
If you want to check the scientific accuracy of this film, just as Robin over on Dark Corners Reviews if you can borrow his Science Adviser. Merry Christmas, Brandon. I'm looking forward to many more reviews next year.
2:04 Plasma energy? Didn’t they have that in the heisei era with mechagodzilla II 6:32 Wow kid what gave it away was it the hat she was wearing 7:56 And Japan’s defense army against giant kaiju monsters they just allow fire in a closed gym area? 8:42 Brandon & Me: “YES IT IS!!” 10:13 Again how did this satellite, that can fire mini black holes, just get past UN approval
I love how this dude can pump out a godzilla video, with Toho's notorious copyright. While anime abridged channels pop out one or two a year, and then need to wait upwards of 3 weeks to get them out of copyright jail
This was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw. I loved how Godzilla just shrugs off a BLACK HOLE, then body slams a purple dragonfly. It’s also probably the best Godzilla ever looked until Minus One.
I remember getting this on Blu Ray as a double bill with Godzilla vs. Destroyah, to me it felt like a stark contrast in terms of an engaging movie for what it is. Guess it’s hard to follow up Godzilla dying and the distributors didn’t know what to do. 😅
@@Kaiju-bm4ts it’s so true. I agree with a lot of Brandon’s points and with you - the Megagurius film is underwhelming. Great concept with the black hole idea … otherwise a lot of the movie is forgettable regardless of what happens to Godzilla. All hail Heisei Gojira.
Fun fact, the host of "Kids Kingdom" with the crazy hair and green glasses is none other than Koichi Yamadera, mostly known as a voice actor (Ryoga from Ranma 1/2, Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop, Kaji from Evangelion, Zenigata from Lupin III since 2011) and dub actor. He is the Japanese voice for Donald Duck, the Genie, and many other Disney characters.
I acc really enjoy Megaguirus. Cool design, cool backstory that kinda mirrors Godzilla/Godzillasaurus, decent enough plot, main character is cute & oh ya.. THAT HORRIFYING ALLEY SCENE Was surprised to find it's one of the less fond movies by the community later on
While I agree this movie is on the weaker side of things I feel Megaguirus is an underrated monster. Yeah she's just a Dragonfly with Scorpion appendages but I still like her.
As Soon as I saw Godzilla's Name! I had to watch it. Thank You Brandon. What I do think of this era of Godzilla movies is sort of like an anthology film series. The Millennium-Era really had no connection with each other. but did make a pretty good time.
Godzilla coming back in the post-credits scene isn't Kenny's fault per se. Godzilla just figured out that Megaguirus *is* his fault and is coming to settle the score.
Where does this one rank on your list of the Godzilla series? Do you think it's one of the worst, or is it underrated?
On the later end, the worst of the meluimum era but not the worst film
definitely one of the worst in my book, especially in the millennium era
it is quite underrated, yet also mid. it is the best design for a godzilla in my opinion though.
the "worst" crown is being shared by both godzilla's revenge and '98
i do not think there will be anyone dethroning them any time soon
I enjoyed it especially the little bit of bug horror we got from the dumpster scene 🤣
After months of having nothing of Brandon’s show up in my sub feed, the first thing I see is MvG. Truly, this is a sign.
Mothra?
Ehhh it’s GvM ok ehhh.
THIS LITERALLY THE EAXCT SME THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME OMG
The algorithm knows you too well.
ye
4:59 Fun Fact: The male game show host is played by Koichi Yamadera who is a famous voice actor in Japan who's done Spike Spiegel, Zenigata, Beerus and etc.
Beerus!?
@varadaki5990oh no...not super..
Megaguiris used swift followed by poison tail.
It was Super Effective.
Godzilla used Cut followed by body slam.
It was Super Effective.
Beat me to it
If it walks like a Kenny, whines like a Kenny, acts like a Kenny, it's a Kenny, dammit!! 😂
damn straight.
Stan: Oh, My God! It's a KENNY!
Kyle: You bastards!
Cartman: Oh, Got damn it. I hate Kennys.
Kenny: (Muffled) Hey!
I love how you can see spyro the dragon, Pikachu, and donkey kong plushies in the background during the japanese tv show scene
A Brandon Tenold Godzilla Review is a great way to wrap up 2024. He has pulled off some awesome videos, and he didn't need the big G on them.
If I remember right, the cutting framerate during the battle was actually an attempt to show how Megaguirus sees things, so basically low framerate, she sees things slow with her hyperspeed.
17:25 *FOOTAGE FLAGGED BY TOHO* - Megaguirus's one true weakness!
Both a new AVGN episode and a Brandon Tenold Godzilla episode drops on the same day? Its like an early Christmas. Hope you have a merry Christmas Brandon
Did you also come here from the AVGN video?
@ScooterinAB yes
Yeah really good though sadly it's not all rainbow and sunshine since there's news of strikes involving Amazon and Starbucks really have to rethink or get what you still can before things get worse. Anyway really look it up and spread the word.
Godzilla getting jump scared by Megaguirus was the best part
1:22 love the addition of "You know the drill by now." Lmao😂😂😂
OUR EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT FROM BRANDON
They say that every time Brandon makes a Godzilla movie review a Toho lawyer earns his yearly bonus.
Finally another Godzilla movie. Only several Godzilla movies left and you have a complete Godzilla reviews
Brandon, love your caustic snark and humor. Often use your reviews as way to decide which older films to waste my life on. Major Kudos.
I normally save your videos as workout videos but I'm being a good boy this Chrismas so I'm watching this one now.

Hope you stay healthy. Positive waves, prayers, and good thoughts to you.
@ thank you. I just hope that messages like these reach creators but also help others who are going through something of their own.
See, this is how I spent the end of my year last year, rewatching all of Brandon’s Godzilla reviews. And I’m going to do it again!
Black hole gun
Won't you come
And take away Godzilla?
Black hole gun
Won't you come
Won't you come
Won't you come...
I disposed of a few pounds of cocaine playing that album at my crack-house in DC. I don't know if you should parody it. LOL
BLACK HOLE GUN! BLACK HOLE GUN!
I like to think that directly after the freezeframe of the end credit scene, the Kenny was obliterated by a burst of Godzilla's thermonuclear death-breath.. Godzilla's way of repaying that little bastard for all the trouble Megaguirus caused him.
Michiru Oshima's theme for Godzilla is right up there with Akira Ifukube's. Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla made it even better.
Here before it gets flagged.
I can’t wait to see Brandon reviews Godzilla Mothra, and King ghidorah, giant monsters, all out attack
I think this is one of the more underrated godzilla films.
It’s the last godzilla film that felt and was genuinely original with it’s concepts and Megaguirus is a rad monster.

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to get to GMK.
Or maybe you'll do Ghidrah, the Three-Headed Monster before that.
Brandon has given us a really good Christmas present
Thank you Brandon, happy holidays
Yeas thanks for this christmas special
It seems a bit extreme to use a gun that shoots literal Black Holes at Godzilla, but then again he does survive practically everything else.
Perfect Christmas gift
Oh nice, early Christmas present!
Godzilla: "Keep the change you filthy animal."
Shoutout to when I accidentally bought two copies of this movie.
Merry Christmas and a Happy 70th to Godzilla

If he has a bowl cut and is below 5 foot 4, he is absolutely a Kenny!
I want to thank you Brandon, your content helped me very much when my grandfather passed, you two have the exact same sense of humor, when I watch, you, I remember him
Just once, just, once, I wanna see the kid(s) held to any level accountability.
"Congratulations! You now have a way to track the giant radioactive monster." 😂
If you want to check the scientific accuracy of this film, just as Robin over on Dark Corners Reviews if you can borrow his Science Adviser.
Merry Christmas, Brandon. I'm looking forward to many more reviews next year.
"I don't think the world will end with a bang or a whimper, it'll end with a scientist saying 'Hey! It works.' " - Jon Stewart
Wasn't expecting a new Godzilla video this year, thanks for indulging us! Love the videos, no matter what their topic is
FINALLY MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED, NEW GODZILLA VID FROM BRANDON!!
2:04 Plasma energy? Didn’t they have that in the heisei era with mechagodzilla II
6:32 Wow kid what gave it away was it the hat she was wearing
7:56 And Japan’s defense army against giant kaiju monsters they just allow fire in a closed gym area?
8:42 Brandon & Me: “YES IT IS!!”
10:13 Again how did this satellite, that can fire mini black holes, just get past UN approval
Thank you for blessing my day man. You're truly incredible.
If I had a nickel for every time the Shibuya district was in chaos I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
First gamera 3 now this 😅
Megaguirus is one of my favorite monsters ever!
I pray she appears in other Godzilla media!
Hopefully the Monsterverse~
I’ve missed your Godzilla reviews
I love how this dude can pump out a godzilla video, with Toho's notorious copyright.
While anime abridged channels pop out one or two a year, and then need to wait upwards of 3 weeks to get them out of copyright jail
Companies behind anime adaptations are becoming less stingy with copyright. Good old toho has only become more stingy
I hope they make a Rodan vs. Megaguirus one day while I'm still alive
8:34 im guessing the guy puppeteering the monster here and they thought nobody would notice
To me the tiny robots are even MORE amazing than some vague "PFM" (pure f---ing magic) explanation.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Brandon
Thanks for spoiling us
FINALLY! BRANDON'S COVERING SOME MILLENIUM GODZILLA!
Merry Christmas, a happy new year and thank you for another year of entertainment 👍
Watching your videos for about a few YEARS now and I've Now Subscribed! Plus, the Godzilla 2000 Design is one of my Favorites.
Kiriko is one of my top Godzilla girl crushes.
Another great reaction to add to my Brandon Tenold playlist! Thank you, again, sir!
Was NOT expecting that stinger 😂😂 from the monster and the joke at the end. Lol
NEW GODZILLA VID LETS GO!
Its the most wonderful time of the year:a brandon tenold godzilla review
4:27 look at it this way brandon, godzilla won't be a treat to the planet, if the planet doesn't exists
_modern problems require modern solutions_
Crazy thing, they had a real prehistoric dragonfly, that was a size of small to medium size bird
ITS FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one of my favorite Gojira entries!
Brandon reviewing another Godzilla movie? Guess the window ninja has taken the invisibility perk
LESS GO! now more Godzilla.
This was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw. I loved how Godzilla just shrugs off a BLACK HOLE, then body slams a purple dragonfly.
It’s also probably the best Godzilla ever looked until Minus One.
If there's one good thing I could say about this movie, it has one of my favorite godzilla soundtracks in it.
I remember getting this on Blu Ray as a double bill with Godzilla vs. Destroyah, to me it felt like a stark contrast in terms of an engaging movie for what it is. Guess it’s hard to follow up Godzilla dying and the distributors didn’t know what to do. 😅
They shouldn't had placed one of the most peak godzilla films next to one of the most underwhelming ones 😅
ITS BEEN A LONG TIME!!!!!!!
13:14 Those toys were what introduced to Godzilla thank you vey much!
I can't believe Brandon didn't talk about Godzilla violently shaking his head in this movie
Each more is like its own little one shot
Its funny you went with the black goji thumbnail. He is so green in this movie he often made me think of him being a monstrous chubby toad here 😆
As a G-fan I actually don't mind this movie. It's not the best, but far from the worst.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve watch this channel, & now I come back to something cool.
I acc really enjoy Megaguirus. Cool design, cool backstory that kinda mirrors Godzilla/Godzillasaurus, decent enough plot, main character is cute & oh ya.. THAT HORRIFYING ALLEY SCENE
Was surprised to find it's one of the less fond movies by the community later on
I’ve been waiting for this one!
Cool video, Brandon! I love the part in the movie you showed where- *FOOTAGE FLAGGED BY TOHO*
Perfect timing, as I've been reading the IDW Godzilla comics collections of late.
Early CGI from the 2000 not great but hey Godzilla minus one made it even better.
It has never been a better time to be a Godzilla fan than now.
While I agree this movie is on the weaker side of things I feel Megaguirus is an underrated monster. Yeah she's just a Dragonfly with Scorpion appendages but I still like her.
Awesome review
Yessir Genuinely Appreciate You Brandon😎💪💯
"flagged by toho"
lol, when you see the amount of free movies available on youtube
❤you just made my day and I only looked at my notification for a second, thanks bro
"The Ga-graspers"
😂
Merry Christmas
As Soon as I saw Godzilla's Name! I had to watch it. Thank You Brandon. What I do think of this era of Godzilla movies is sort of like an anthology film series. The Millennium-Era really had no connection with each other. but did make a pretty good time.
11:55 Ultraman himself, Susumu Kurobe!
Finally a new godzilla video
In my opinion, this is the most underrated Godzilla film in the entire franchise.
Can’t wait for the day where Brandon finally tackles GMK!
Especially considering Godzilla Minus One drew a lot of inspiration from it!
By gawd he did the Godzilla Splash! Get the medics down here he's trying to kill him!!
Godzilla coming back in the post-credits scene isn't Kenny's fault per se. Godzilla just figured out that Megaguirus *is* his fault and is coming to settle the score.
