I really miss riding in the snow. Great Vid Brother! Real quick, a tip for starting a YFZR Cold with a Vortex. Turn the key on, let the pump and lights cycle, then try to start for a couple cranks. Then turn the key off and cycle the pump and dash lights 2 times. After the second cycle, it will fire right up. This works every time like clockwork when cold. Has to do with the Vacuum readings in the Vortex. Can't take credit for this. The credit goes to Ryan Smith with BNR. Works every time for me, especially after leaving the quad sit out all night at the races and firing it up the next morning.
You’re the reason I have 4snow tires an ride in the winter, before I had ran paddle tires with little success . Second winter riding now, thank you sir! Alberta gets bout 4-5 feet of snow and I’ve been able to ride through 90 percent of the winter . Top quality videos
I just fired up my Raptor the other day, We currently have 4 feet of snow, so i'll need to wait a bit longer to ride.. Vids are a welcome ray of sunshine to us in Raptor drought. Thanks pete :)
@@PeteHager I would love to see one where you ride both machines in the same area with some voice over of what makes them different and where their strengths and weaknesses are.
Thanks! It was a last minute idea! Unfortunately most of the times I tried it the camera froze but I’m definitely gonna try it more once it warms up! 🤘
Awesome video man just picked up a yz450 and yz125 today and got my crf250l out today for a ride still have snow but been sitting 4 months over the winter
This summer I won't be able to make St. Anthony's sand dunes, but I hope you and your crew will! Love to see your video about it!!! Raptor life! Yaaaaaaa buddy!!!
Hell yeah I love the snow footage I got to have a little fun in Howell New Jersey when we got that snow storm but that's it we didn't get nothing else kind of sucks but hey you finally posted another snow video so that'll make up for it so thank u😅🤙💪‼️
They sit tall for the trail so you gotta fight these more than the lower 450s. I ragdolled a trx 450 at 15 and weighed about 100 pounds. 20 years later and a few 450s later this raptor just needs a lot of body adjusting for me to feel comfy to where the yfz and trx just felt glued to the dirt.
🥳Finally a good old Pete Hager video, missed these and the trails videos also. I hope we'll be seeing more soon.🤞 We're tired of all these sand videos that we see everywhere.🤔
Great Video! We rode the River near us A Few Months back. I find it funny that You said that Go Pro's do not like the Cold, this is our second season on riding the Frozen River, and had not noticed anything funny during our Recording.
Glad you’ve had better luck then me with the GoPro’s. I run hero7’s and I’ve heard the newer GoPro’s do better. I’m sure some of my batteries have seen better days as well. I hope to upgrade my main helmet cam gopro later this season 👍
Quick question because I am wanting to engine swap. How much space is there between the valve cap cover and the bottom of the gas tank? Any different with an IMS oversized tank?
@@PeteHager thanks! Also, I sure that this sounds like a broken record, but which is better, YFZ450R or Raptor 700r and what do you like about each? I ride wide open some, but also ride about 15mph on some hilly and rocky trails. Thanks
It would be awesome to adventure your way! Unfortunately with gas prices rising we may stay in our region for a lot of the summer! As soon as I can make it happen we will! 🙏🤘
As a suggestion if u have a local harbor freight they have a lift cart that makes matenice and stuff like changing tires a lot easier as u don't have to bend down
Hello from Watertown South Dakota! As always a fun filled video, keep em coming. Makin me reconsider getting a motorcycle and buying a quad instead haha 😅
I had 4snow tires on my 700. Preferred the paddles over them honestly. Rode one season on the maxxis 4snows and didn't like them. I studded a set of razors for the lake and really liked them. Bear claws were great in snow but heavy.. mine were a 22x12x9 rear
The battery was struggling last fall so I wasn’t too surprised. I’ll take it for a day of riding and if it doesn’t seem to hold a charge I’ll get a new one 👍
That raptor is a pure beast man! I haven’t ripped in the in snow with my raptor yet we don’t get much snow here in southern va. However they are calling for snow here tomorrow so who knows might get to experience it! Also I need to pipe it big time I have a fuel custom intake and a pc5 so only the pipe to go and I’m definitely looking a the rossiar r5 I believe. But another great video man keep it up! Maybe one day I’ll catch ya down my way!
They allow ditch riding in certain areas of Minnesota. If law enforcement sees you riding recklessly or without a license plate they’ll definitely stop you. I always try to ride in the middle of the day during the week because it’s less likely you’ll annoy anyone 😅 I know ditch riding is pretty unique to Minnesota 👍
Whay type of paddle would you recommend? Im curious because I was gifted a 400ex from my dad(was his previously) amd hisnold samd geckos have been sitting in the attic for about 10+ years now. So I'm just wondering if that study is good or if the sand sharks are better.
@petehager are those black plastic side panels where your knees ride on the 400ex new? I see the white and green sticker on them and they look like new panels. If they are can you tell me where you got them and are they OEM? I have that exact same model 400ex and I’m looking for a set of those OEM panels.
I think you’ll experience more bump steer the wider you go with spacers. I had to replace my front wheel bearings already and I’m assuming the spacers wore them out faster. Having a stabilizer helps offset the added bump steer. I’ve never had a problem with them but the best form of widening is definitely longer A Arms 😊👍
@@PeteHager aye I agree with you I just already have +2 a arms and I wanted a nice adjustable axle but the shortest the axle can be would make my rear just wider then front and I was wanting to keep front wider
I probably had like 12-15 batteries with me. They’re all aftermarket knock offs from Amazon. Some last longer then others but once the cameras themselves get super cold they seem to be more finicky. I’ll get 30+ minutes out of a battery when it’s warmer out. I always swap batteries once they get below 50% if Im stopped
We don’t unfortunately. I wish Obor would come out with a set but I haven’t heard anything yet. There isn’t many options for new paddle tires aside from Sand Stars or Cyclones. The next level up would be Skat Traks but they’re pretty expensive. I think the sand stars are great tires 👍
Glad to see you opened the garage door at the beginning. Would have been an unfortunate video to you pass out holding the GoPro... Probably wouldn't' have happened but better safe than sorry.
Great video as always Pete! I've been sub'd for quite a while now and love your content. I have a GoPro8 and I have the same issues with the video occasionally locking up while the audio keeps recording. Usually it happens in the cold but not always. I use mine for recording quad riding trips and also snowboarding videos. It's so frustrating to lose an entire recorded ride due the video locking up. I've wondered if it's an aftermarket battery issue? Sometimes even my fully charged batteries lock up the video, but then I swap to another battery and the recording starts working again. Makes me mad just thinking about it all over again :( Anyways, I too am looking to get a new GoPro10 soon because I'm tired of losing video. Keep up the great work, Zac.
Thanks for watching my videos! It could be from the aftermarket batteries, I know the new hero10 is supposed to be better in the cold. I’m gonna wait until the next one comes out to see how their reviewed before I upgrade my 7’s. The 10 should be awesome though! 😊🤘
Badass 4 wheeler I have a polaris explorer and I can't find anyone who knows how to work on it its maken a terrible noise in the case were my belt is so ill get a new belt put on and it just breaks again maybe its the clutch idn had it worked on 2 times and hardly even road it

That 400 ex is still the king of all 4strokes
True 400 is a badass trail bike, much rather race a 450 or 700 through for the top speed, but 400s have a great sound and feel
I have a 2000 400
