Living with ASMD NP-B: James Brooks

James Brooks (21, ASMD NP-B) talks about living with Niemann-Pick ASMD Type B, along with his father Andy, and his grandmother Janice Brooks (who is also on the NPUK Board of Trustees):
"...I was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick when I was three years old after I got a nasty case of pneumonia - after being treated for the pneumonia doctors realised there was something else...sort of, unusual about me. I went through a number of tests which finally concluded with me being diagnosed with Niemann-Pick type B [---] the support has been fantastic - it's like a great family here. I think one of the things I appreciate most is through the charity meeting other people that have the disease, know what I'm going through. I've made so many great friends here over the years..."

Our central goals are to raise much needed awareness, provide practical and emotional support, advice and information and facilitate research into potential therapies for NPD.
