We are back to our 5pm fix of restoration magic. The episode today (3rd) with the fire place, was absolutely glorious. I never know why the dealers have any concern about their projects working out fantastically well. I just sit back and take it all in.
Smashing Ruth. I have a large plaster plaque of a Diana the huntress type woman controlling a roman chariot with 2 horses.been wracking my brain which area to gild. This vid has been an invaluable asses.
The gold is so thin it's slightly transparent, so colour under the gold looks good. The metal leaf is much thicker, but I still would put yellow under as metal leaf doesn't cover well and can leave crack and gaps between the leaves.
If I had thought about doing this earlier than a few weeks ago. They probably would have been. It's finding time to do the editing that's becoming the problem, sorry.
Stunning, my fave so far, thank you so much for taking the time and trouble for showing us all this wonderful work, makes my day.

Thank
love it
When you painted it yellow, is that only for real gold because its so thin? Or should you paint it yellow for the imitation gold leaf also?

What type of brush do you use to pick up the gold leaf?
I use a synthetic art brush, you can use a gilders tip.
Angels on high :)
why did you applied button polish before the oil size?
The oil size need to go onto a non porous surfaces. So the button polish seals the surface.
thank you!!!!
Do not like unnarrated videos.
Thanks, that has made me realise when I'm doing the editing I'm sick of hearing myself talk and I'm cutting it out. Will try to leave that in. 😁
