Honestly I am super impressed by the functionality in just an app 🤯 For beginner DJs this is a blessing, it makes the start so much easier and more intuitive. For advanced DJs at first I thought it will only bring the perk of mobility BUT then you explained the phone features. It is simply awesome that I now can prepare or make some last minute adjustments on the phone and actually connect the phone to the CDJs, no more need to bring a bulky laptop and no way to forget an USB anymore! 🔥🔥
I see how this is marketed for beginners but i have been djing for 10 years mainly just for fun these days, This is awesome, now I can buy a flx4 and a jbl charge 4 and have a setup i can take to the beach and not worry about messing up my laptop or having a power connection.
If they expand the supported controllers beyond flx4 will be great. Imagine hooking up ddj 1000 or flx10 to this and make a fully standalone setup on a budget
Pioneer stuff are not really on a budget lol… you have a laptop for less that runs Rekordbox than a Pioneer product :D but the support for all Rekordbox controllers would make sense and would be great indeed
I was since it was announced really looking forward to using this with Beatport link on my DDJ-800 to give my always overheating MBP a break. Hopefully they add compatibility in the future but I'm sure that's far from likely.
Id like to know this too. I use my ipad with midi piano connected to the usb to powered lighting adaptor. If i could do same with Rekordbox I can leave the expensive laptop at home.
I want to say thank you for this tutorial.for my experience it's note for a beginner DJ it's the future of DJing when I started it was vinyl and now the best option for me is to come with the cell phone 250 gb collections and library. There's no need for new equipment at all. The next generations of DJ controllers Will be only touch surface scream with the lair preference or any software that's the DJ prefer
Dont use beatport, that site sucks so bad. Bandcamp is the way to go, every DJ will tell you that. Fairer pay, unlimited redownloads, you can choose data formats etc...

If Pioneer would make this iPad app work like how a screen of an CDJ-2000NXS2 or 3000 or RX2/3 works while pressing a button that the whole screen changes into that function and when you press back it comes to the main screen again that would be awesome. Plus I don't understand why they only made it for the FLX4... I have an RX3 and an FLX10 now. FLX10 came later then the 4. I'm a person who really is on 50/50 now on what gear to bring to the venue's for playing. But if a great iPad app works on the FLX10 that would be an major upgrade.
This app combined with a FLX4 in some ways mimics the Omnis Duo or Denon Prime Go, with more utility and cheaper. I plan to test out a full mobile setup with this and a Soundboks gen3.

New Android version is available now. I've just downloaded it from the Play Store. I'm not sure about FLX6 though, is it a bit complicated to use on a tiny phone's screen?
The DDJ400 has no bluetooth and also only one USB-Port. The only way would be a powered hub, since a iPad or iPhone can't deliver enough energy. Maybe they just want to keep it as simple as possible. Btw. i just sold my used DDJ400 for 300$ and bought the FLX4 for about 320$.
so far, it looks pretty on par with what I expected. I am mostly disappointed by the UI, i understand pads need to be large for interaction purposes, but I don't think they used the screen real estate as best as they could on the ipad. it would be cool in the future if the interface was more customizable. it just doesnt look as cool and concise as its computer counterparts, given the limitations of mobile devices, but ios and ipados are getting increasingly more powerful and capable.

I have to say I'm pretty annoyed that they don't have access to memory cues in the new mode...and even more frustrating is that the countdown is to the analyzed phrase change rather than the memory cue you make.
Believing me I using with ddj 400 and earlier version of Rekordbox and this for me very good and I'm getting along with this I don't require stems and more things in the new version of Rekordbox and also I think that the ddj 400 remaining very good dj controller

theres definitely no bluetooth technology inside the ddj400 but im hoping you can still connect via cable. i have a ddj 400 too and this would make my life so easy

Have downloaded/updated android version, works okay, but don't have a flx-4 to test on, only a 200 which doesn't connect via BT atleast(haven't got otg cable yet). Shame about them charging a mortgage to unlock effects, should be hardware unlock atleast for the flx 4. Think I'll stick to my algorithm app for now, funny enough it's more usable than there own WeDJ app.
Update: does work via an otg adapter, however performance pads only good for cue points(to be fair that's a hardware letdown, although on the desktop version you can select fx pads) and the lag on the cue points is very strong. Also worth noting there doesn't seem to be an option to change EQ from classic to full kill, although I wouldn't be surprised if this was included in the $6 p/w paid bundle, still can't get my head around why this is so expensive given it's never going to be used in paid gig as a primary source. Would expect premium bug fixes and to actually speak to someone from AlphaTheta corp for that price
is it also posible to midi map other device knobs through a hub or docking station for knob that are not mapped on my DDJ FLX4 like slip or scratch on off ?
Tried this on my flx 4 this morning , couldnt get cues to work when the headphones were plugged into the flx 4 . Was also disappointing that there were paid upgrades to make it work properly . Also was hoping my phone would power it for some limited portability but it needs a usb charger with my samsung s22 so i might as well just use my laptop . Seems piontless unfortunately . Gutted as it could of been great

You don't even need a USB stick. You can use mobile sync in Rekordbox which wirelessly transfers to your mobile device in the same way you would export to a USB drive.
How do I get the library sync to work? I currently use on windows and Ipad Air (5th gen) and have the creative plan but nothing syncs into my ipad. All the songs are like faded out and doesnt allow to me load anything
Whats crazy to me is how you cant view the genre in the file browser when going through your own collection. You can't see this in WeDJ either. Seems like a basic need - insane it's missing in both programs.
When using my FLX-4 and the new app via Bluetooth on iPhone , output audio is only possible on iPhone? My speakers connected with the rca connections on FLX-4 won't work. Connecting another bluetooth speaker to my iPhone gives a slight delay...

Pioneer said it was coming to Android in March 2023, in 2022, and thats why I got the flx4. When it came out only for Apple, I was close to buying a ipad, but didnt because I couldnt find anywhere to try it out first, Apple wouldnt let me try it out in shop as its a third party app, and I didnt know anyone with a ipad or iphone. If in the future the app works with the flx10, i might be tempted to get an ipad and that then - but I can see them holding off at least until 2024 to try and sell more of the other units but basically all the FLX units are going to work with mobile phones in the next year or so im sure, which is huge - they will make more money holding it off is just the anoying thing.

I hope they'll add support for DDJ-200 soon, It doesn't work right now. I find this as a very nice backup option, DDJ-200 + iPhone.

Just use a USB C to Lightning cable to connect the controller. Bluetooth is only for midi not for audio.

Yes, it is only MIDI via bluetooth. You would have to connect it wired for the output on the controller to work.

@@FullScreenTV_ surely depends on which region you live in. Pretty sure that in Europe people have carrier tie-in phones. Or, hopefully you don't use your work phone for dj'ing 💀

Pioneer said it was coming to Android in March 2023, in 2022, and thats why I got the flx4. When it came out only for Apple, I was close to buying a ipad, but didnt because I couldnt find anywhere to try it out first, Apple wouldnt let me try it out in shop as its a third party app, and I didnt know anyone with a ipad or iphone. If in the future the app works with the flx10, i might be tempted to get an ipad and that then - but I can see them holding off at least until 2024 to try and sell more of the other units but basically all the FLX units are going to work with mobile phones in the next year or so im sure, which is huge - they will make more money holding it off is just the anoying thing.

iIhave a Samsung tablet. I copy all my songs onto a Micro SD card and pop it in.
My app wont rotate like yours looked in settings and there is nothing in there about it, any ideas?
