Thank you for sharing this! I would love to see more of these. I always wanted to be a "fly on the wall" while somebody else is teaching the same piece I teach every day. Great idea with the repeated "A"! Keep these coming :)

Thanks for the feedback, Elyse! Have you seen the Faber Piano Adventures teacher's guide for the Primer books? The DVD that comes with the teacher's guide is worth it's weight in gold. It contains wonderful video excerpts of Nancy Faber teaching lessons.

Good for you for working towards becoming a NCTM! You have inspired me to try to video a lesson and good to know that you did it with your phone. One comment: I don't usually play that much of a piece for a student when I am introducing it. Was that recommended by the Faber's Teacher Guide? I do like your introduction of staccato, sharps, wrist position and shaping notes.

Hi Julie! The Fabers haven't released a teacher's guide for Level 1. I don't really know what they recommend as far as playing pieces during lessons. But I can tell you that I do often perform entire pieces for students as a way to introduce new pieces. I think it is so valuable for students to see/hear how a piece looks/sounds while watching the score. Other times, I demonstrate only sections (as I did in this video) or I ask them to sight-read without having heard the piece at all. Variety is good. :)

Joy Morin I was just wondering. I change things up a lot, too. Thanks for your reply. Looking forward to more videos!
