Toph could prolly sense his pulse stopping, and the camera panning to Longshot drawing his bow and arrow drove the point home Jet's gone(I think I read somewhere that longshot's arrow was supposed to be on fire or that he was gonna be show aiming down at Jet but Nick said no 'unalifing' kids on air ) 😢

The only reason i'm hopeful about the live action remake is that its confirmed to be longer than the first season of the og series. Hopefully they use the extra runtime well but not many scenes will be cut

In my nonprofessional opinion, I know someone's heart can stop if it's hit at the right time. Or Jet could've just been hit so hard his heart took too much damage.
I always had the impression that benders were like X-men mutants in that along with their abilities they naturally possess a resistance to physical injury. Which would be why earthbenders can take full blows from boulders, firebenders rarely get scarred or burned, airbenders can slow their falls from great heights, and waterbenders being resistant to cold with the added bonus of being able to heal themselves. And all benders seem to share at least a degree of these properties between them. Ordinary humans, however, lack this which is why Jet being hit by an earthbending attack would be fatal to him and not so much to another bender.

although book one is technically """worse""", animation, story and action wise, it is really necessary, like Maddie said, to help us bond with the characters, create a connection and see their first steps for their development to be really noticeable and actually satisfying to watch. Also we got a lot of worldbuilding in book one, we got to see the consequences of the war, how past avatars and the return of today's avatar impacts different cities, it was also shown a lot of info about how the spiritual realm works and how spirituality works in this universe as a whole. If we really put thought into it, I don't think the ending would have the same impact as it did if we didn't have an episode about katara freeing earthbenders from that prison, Haru having to hide who he was out of fear, and the existence of groups like Jet's warriors... It really adds so much necessary layers to the story. Also we always have to keep in mind that every first episode of any show is usually a test. Sometimes even entire seasons work as an investment, to test if it's really worth the money. I'm not saying you should watch a show you disliked just for this specific reason, but everytime you try and watch something new, go for it with your mind and heart open, and hold on to the basics, the concept, the idea behind the story and try and understand the bigger scale of things. In the end of the day, most art expressions we see (paintings, buildings, movies, books and, of course, cartoons) are someone's dream coming to life. I'm an aspirant writer, and if someday I publish my art for the world to read, I wish people will think this way before starting the first pages. ❤

Every time Iroh raises his voice, you pay attention. Zhao and the moon spirit is another example. Its such powerful writing.

Also we always have to keep in mind that every first episode of any show is usually a test. Sometimes even entire seasons work as an investment, to test if it's really worth the money.
I'm not saying you should watch a show you disliked just for this specific reason, but everytime you try and watch something new, go for it with your mind and heart open, and hold on to the basics, the concept, the idea behind the story and try and understand the bigger scale of things. In the end of the day, most art expressions we see (paintings, buildings, movies, books and, of course, cartoons) are someone's dream coming to life. I'm an aspirant writer, and if someday I publish my art for the world to read, I wish people will think this way before starting the first pages. ❤
