Thank you Sophie! I watched this and successfully installed my rebuilt door panels today! No problem with getting the putty soft today though, another hot dry day in London!
Really helpful thanks Sophie - everything I needed to know, very clear. I am wondering though, whether to leave the final trimming for a few days, when the putty has cured? I think that's what the person advised, who repaired the actual stained glass for me. I'd be interested to hear your view on that (or the view of anyone with the experience/know-how). Thanks anyway for a great video.
I guess there are different ways to do it. A professional glazier is unlikely to want to return to jobs a few days later for practical reasons - and so not what I've been taught. That doesn't mean that it isn't a good option though.
Thanks for the very helpful video! Is there a minimum rebate that is required to squeeze in a panel? I'd like to replace my clear float glass with a panel, but with the current glass being 2mm, the rebate is fairly shallow.
Hi, please could I ask what the 20mm nails/ pins were for/ what do they do and where to place nails after the bedding in putty application. Do you hammer them in the rebate completely? Also what do I look for & good quality putty? Sophie can you use this kind of putty to lead a stained glass panel by hand do you think rather than the runny kind? If you have a link for the nails / pins and a putty I would be eternally grateful as I haven’t bought any before and unsure what to buy. Sorry I seem to have a lot of questions. Thank you.
ruclips.net/video/LXiJ-3th1oo/видео.html ruclips.net/video/LcgjWrOdVqg/видео.html The pins keep the window in place till the putty has set. You space them every 6" or so. If you can't find what you need from the two videos above, send me another message.
Looks Lovely. Love the painted roundels and putty tips. If too wet with oil I find rolling in newspaper great. Whoever painted the lead edge it looks awful. The Georgian wired looks horrible as well. Hopefully homeowner will replace it with some more period etched glass off the shelf.

Ah that's great! Well done. Nice to hear from a fellow Londoner!
That makes sense. My job is looking good anyway, so thanks once again - really appreciated your video
Glad it helped

If you have 7mm minimum then you could use face beading instead of rebated beading
Great demonstration as always.😀
Thank you! Cheers!

Yes, the house is definitely a work in progress! Good newspaper tip!
After today’s fit I’ve come to the conclusion I hate using putty out of a tub 🤪
I also am not much keen on it.
