    The pump will have water in it because they are supposed to test them before they leave the factory. Great job on the install. I'm glad you went with a larger accumulator tank, the link I sent you was for an RV small tank. The one you got will spread out the cycles of your pump a lot farther. I have an 80 gallon accumulator tank at work and I had to replace the bladder a few years ago, what a pain, next time I'm gonna replace the whole tank.

    I'm planning to put a 75 gal tank in the basement and use the 12v pump (or 110, have not decided ) to provide our house with toilet flush, shower and washing during power outages. this way i can use a small honda 2000 to feed the house as there wouldn't be a need for a big 10kw gen for there isn't a 220 circuit anymore seeing the water heater is an on-demand propane. ... less gas, less noise, less power, lighter penny. always can keep a few 5 gal water jugs on hand if i need more water. but they say most showers are 17 gal and a flush is 2 gal.. i suspect 75 gal used with reason ought to be enough until the power returns

      I chose this accumulator so it would be easy to mount... www.amazon.com/Gallon-Accumulator-Mount-Bracket-Female/dp/B00IRFW38W/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1464682291&sr=8-3&keywords=water+accumulator

    Yes the same exact pump in our RV separated from the base, and then it started vibrating and I had to get in there and work on it. Its back to "normal" now.

    One thing that I'd suggest for your tanks....(Issues I've run into with my tanks on the RV, that I replaced, but not anymore :) )....is to mount a access hole on top of each tank (5" screw-able locking lid) so that you can get inside the tanks at times to clean out the algae & gunk'H that will accumulate over time...just a thought and more work for yah...LOL! Awesome videos so far...will follow till the end of proof of concept....keep it up brother.

    The cheap clear pipe on the pump is a definite weak point. It hardens up and gets brittle then you will have a flood when you are not expecting it... You really want a rubber hose with reinforcing material embedded in it. Like what is used to hook up a washing machine...

      I hate these types of comments. For future reference if you have a negative comment use this formula. Positive, positive, negative(this comment) then positive. A lot of work goes into making these videos and I understand by posting them I'm welcoming constructive criticism but I never like ready just a negative comment.
      With that said. I will look into it more and see about replacing them with a thick rubber hose. I can see that where the hose clamp is it can eventually fail due to the compression. Thanks for the feedback.

      +Tiny House Customs I spent several hours yesterday getting current with this thread and overall I think your build is awesome. You are showing many many examples of craftsmanship, something severely lacking in our society generally.. I made the comment on the hose since I build and modify a lot of test equipment at work that is working with DI water and every time we have used the clear unreinforced hose (thinking it is a benefit that one can see bubbles in the lines etc) they have failed. In the meantime we use a really good quality Parker rubber hose which has to be heated in hot water to get it over the brass fittings, but that stuff has never let us down. For a pressurized application, the hose needs layers of internal reinforcing plies, just like the tires on your car. The clear hose has none of that.

    If you had used a Smart Press Pump Controller (Electronic gizmo box) which is about 7" x 6" that would have saved room for you.You then would not need the pressure vessel.No biggie really.
    Thanx Dan.

    • @TinyHouseCustoms
      @TinyHouseCustoms  9 лет назад

      +ScootOverMan The pump has that feature built into the SPPC. the pressure tank prevents the pump from short cycling.

    • @ScootOverMan
      @ScootOverMan 9 лет назад

      +Tiny House Customs Still shouldnt need the pressure tank if using smart press pump.
      Electronic Controller with integral flow regulation turns pump on and off when points of use are opened and closed. The Smart Press provides constant pressure without the need for additional pressure vessels, also provides dry run protection and prevents short cycling.

    www.accumulators.com/sizing.html is a free calculator that will determine how much fluid your accumulator will store based on how you have set it up. That will nudge you in the direction needed to improve it if needed...

    Another excellent video... I just want you to know your vids have been an inspiration to us and a constant source of good info. You've taken the mystery out of so many sub-systems that I feel like our project has been relatively easy.
    Check out our channel - We're not finished with the house yet, and I've only been able to edit & publish about 1/4 of the video we've taken so far, but once we get caught up (in January) I'd like to do a video specifically dedicated to your channel.
    Thank you!
