I’ve heard that a chemist compared ingredients and actually gave higher marks to the Elf formula as having more effective/better quality skin benefiting properties.
Doesn't surprise me. Just because a cosmetic product has a high price tag doesn't mean it's actually a high quality product. Drugstore brands and just lower price brands have already proven that 10x over at this point! 😉
Okay, I absolutely LOVE how your husband knows how you enjoy your highlighter to appear. 👏 I give him serious props on being able to tell that the difference as well.
Ok, can we just give a collective round of applause for a husband who clearly LISTENS to what his wife says and cares enough to actually understand what she means?!?! I love it! When he said “you know how you like highlighters that are …….” My heart smiles for you sister. 😁🥰
i LOVE the maybelline one and wear it every time i wear makeup, it’s so pretty on my skin and with my preferences. i ordered the elf one a week ago and it gets to my house soon, i have high hopes! im hoping it is like the maybelline one but slightly different because my one meh thing about the maybelline is the consistency sometimes is weird and doesn’t fit the vibe for the day.
I LOVE this product so much! I’ve wore it everyday since I got it in the mail. A lot of days I use it in place of a foundation! Gorgeous and wears so well. (Dry skin girl here so I love the dewy look)
Looks exactly the same on camera. I wish Elf would bring out more colors including a lighter shade, one that's a little more cool toned and of course some darker shades!
I love to use the e.l.f. on its own as my base product and spot conceal, especially when I'm running behind or just don't feel like taking too much time with my makeup. I have normal-oily skin so I do set my t-zone with powder, but I don't find this to break down like some foundations do on my skin throughout the day. I will never be without the e.l.f. in my collection and I never have to have FOMO for not spending the $$ on Charlotte Tilbury. It's a true win-win for me!
Yes I totally agree 100%. I recently did a dupes video on mature skin, with both these products, I’m 54 and to me, they are IDENTICAL. And honestly I think that Elf gives more “coverage” if you will. Even if there’s the tiniest most minuscule difference….that $30 difference really is a game changer. Thanks so much for your review. 😍
Wow! A husband who really pays attention! Be sure to thank his mother! Love the presentation today and your criteria for comparison. Thanks for your energy!
I love how you do so many drugstore videos! As a teenager I don’t want to spend a lot of money on makeup. I have found that most of the makeup I own is Elf…it’s just amazing
I thought it was a very close dupe as well! I think the elf has a bit more coverage! I wore the elf one on its own, no foundation and it was beautiful and lasted all day. This is so fantastic of elf to have created this product for us makeup lovers in a budget. Love you sweetheart XOXO 😘
I really wish elf had even one more lighter shade with truly neutral undertones. Their CC cream is a great formula but it's still too dark on me even with the sheer formula and it oxidizes to a pretty orangey color. A lot of foundations do that on me so I doubt this elf product would work any better. It's just too dark and it wouldnt sheer out nicely on me
I've been so curious about this! Thank you for comparing the two! I've never wanted to shell out the money for the CT but have always wanted to try it. Will gladly spend $14 though on something that appears to work so similarly!
I’ve had mine a few weeks now and love love love it. My daughter even borrowed it for a night out on her shoulders & chest where it was exposed slightly via her top. She said she had loads of compliments on her skin - glow without the glitter in ya face look (she said 😅) I think it’s a bang on dupe and deffo worth the hype. ELF is animal & vegan friendly
Thanks for this comparison! I’ve been wondering how they really compared next to each other w/ & w/out foundation applied on top. I really love the CT but it’s sooooo expensive! I’ve been hoping the elf one works just as well as the CT. I haven’t been able to get the Elf one yet so I’m hoping my target will have it next time 🤞🏻🤞🏻
This! I was so hoping to see the wear test and how they look under different lighting, etc. It's not a surprise that many dupes look and feel similar to the OGs upon application, but that doesn't paint the full picture.
@@lesleyrivers2853 I’m going to film it this weekend to hopefully get up next week! I can’t afford the CT one but the drugstore versions look so exciting! I love the Collection Cosmetics one already (review already up!) so I’m interested to see how they compare!xx

Hi Allie, I just got mine a few days ago and love it. I would not be able to tell the difference if I had not watched you apply it. Every review I have seen loved the ELF and it did look the same for them too. Thank you so much for your review Allie, it means a lot to us and we love you too.
Now, what I want to see is a show down. The CT Flawless Filter, the Maybelline Skin Perfector, the L’Oreal Lumi Glotion, and the Elf Halo Glow! Batts of the dupes! We could throw in the Nyx Born to Glow primer too. Also, I have it on order. It’s supposed to arrive tomorrow. 🥰
I haven't tried the elf under my foundation...but when I tried using it as a highlighter it totally broke up my foundation all the way to my sunscreen ...it was the absolute worse I've ever experienced..the Charlotte tilbury...was sitting on the skin and just added to the shine....it can't be worn over foundation in my situation....and I used it many times with different foundations and still it broke up..I also used it on the cheek more into the center of the face because that's where I wanted a natural shine...so that area is more noticeable if it breaks up....same as the nose...its less noticeable on the cheekbone I guess......I still have to try it mixed into my foundation and see how that works...gosh I wish the prices weren't so vastly different...thanks for bringing these for us...
Love this video and your make up looks fabulous. It was fun to get to see you test out these two products side-by-side. Also, I love it when you bring your husband into your videos. It always makes me smile seeing you two together.
Have ordered the elf and just waiting for it. Never tried the Charlotte one as didn't think I wanted a €40 liquid highlighter but worth trying for €16 (costs in euros)
I use a lot of Elf products and I'm real happy with them. My foundation is the Covergirl Simply ageless with Olay. I've used it for years and years. Lol I do love Elf though.
Allie, just curious: Did you find that the next shade up from Fair (shade 1) for ELF to be less orange (Fair/light shade 2 vs. shade 1)? Or even shade 3 light/medium had less of an orange-y tinge?
Yay I’m so glad you did this dupe test! I’ve tried both now as well and lovee ELF halo filter a little more, I think the finish is smoother that CT. Always enjoy a Tylan guest appearance lol y’all are the cutest ❤️
❤️❤️❤️There is a Maybelline and there is a Loreal Tru match Lumi Glotion. Could you please show us the difference between them and Elf filter? It would be lovely. Thank you Allie. Love and blessings
I have used it as foundation a few times with a little concealer. I like it but find it gets a little shiny as the day goes on. That being said, I used it without a moisturizer today and it is much better. I use it Bye bye pores powder and that helps too.
Well yet again u have never failed to amaze us u looked beautiful in the makeup yet again . I have also tried the elf concealer and the Charlotte tilbury Hollywood glow I wear that all the time and love it xx
I feel that the Elf Halo Glow Filter has more coverage than the CT. I can wear the Elf with a translucent pressed powder, blush, bronzer, and a slight highlight. I usually use the Urban Decay All Nighter Translucent pressed powder. Bomb!!
I love it been using it everyday I actually never got the Charlotte tilbury but I like the elf more than the maybelline glow bc it has way more coverage
I love charlotte tilbury because she has more varieties for my skin tone. It’s hard to find something w pink undertone. But I got what your husband meant. Chanel highlighters are amazing and the glow is way more refined and subtle w luxurious glow. To master glowy just the right amount is the authenticity of each brand.
I definitely wish E.l.f. had a shade lighter than their lightest one. It's too yellow/orange. For me personally, the E.l.f. will not be replacing the Charlotte Tilbury. I am still reaching for it first rather than the E.l.f.
Same problem I have with ELF's shade range. Wayyy too orange/yellow for me. They really need to add more cool/neutral tones across all shades. Then it would be perfect.
The real test for me is how it wears after several hours. I wake up at 3:30 am. I don't get home till almost 6pm. That's a LLLOOONNNGGG day. I NEED long lasting makeup. The drug store brands are stepping up their A game. They have come to play.

Hi Allie! I just got your makeup bags in the mail and am hoping the gray brush bag will come back in stock soon. Such great quality and looks sooo chic where I do my makeup. I’m in a small apartment so I appreciate that these bags look good on my dining table. 🤪
I LOVE everything CT that I see but I'm broke as a joke so I have loved all your dupes for things CT. I have found everytime ELF does an obvious dupe, they really come through. The only difference I could tell was when used as highlight. The CT has more packed pearlescense to it. But as primer I couldn't tell a difference. I liked the CT better as highlight for you but for me I like it to be more subtle so I'm actually super ok with the ELF having a bit less punch.
People use the word dupe so much when the products are only similar. Dupe to me means the exact same formula, color, and results. The e.l.f. one is only similar to the CT. The e.l.f. is much darker and has much more coverage. To me, it looks like a highlighter mixed with foundation. 🤷♀️
Exactly. I can’t buy this because the fair shade is way too dark for me :( Ill have to spend my money on the charlotte one if i want a product like this because they have a better shade range
E.L.F. Is actually great not only because of their cosmetics brushes etc., but because they use way less packaging and that significantly drops the prices down as well and their chemists are just as awesome as the ones that work for higher end names the public just don’t have to pay a higher price to for for their names . And same goes for skincare such as ; Oil of O’lay L’Oreal etc., their all fabulous skincare products your just not having to spend $68 for a night serum when you can pay $$25 or $30 for a night serum say by ROC that is just as good if not better than them higher end, I know I’ve been using skincare and cosmetics from both since I was 17 I am now 60 years old and I have both in my skincare I am also a cosmetologist for over 20 years 😀🤩
I do think the Charlotte tilbury is definitely more “ pearly” like therefore offering a higher and prettier shine so I will personally be sticking to the Charlotte tilbury one, but thank you for this great comparison video
I heard the collection gorgeous glow filter finish was a dupe, I can’t tell you if it is as I have never tried the CT but the collection one is really cheap, it’s only £6.99 in the U.K. and it is really nice, the shade fair in the collection one looks like it might be a much closer match to the CT one too. Xx
I’ve still got the Nars Tinted Glow Booster which is a similar kind of product. I’ve ordered the ELF so I’m interested to see the comparison. Especially as the Nars was limited edition. (I even have a back up 😂)
In Australia we finally had the launch of the e.l.f Halo filter. Of course I was excited. We luckbout on many of the US and British products here. Or have to pay a hefty shipping cost to access new products. With the current exchange rate I calculated the Aussie price for the Chemist/Drugstore Dupe should be around $20 or $25 Aussie Dollars. To my surprise and disappointment it is cost $35 at our Priceline Pharmacy! What! Sorry this is no longer an affordable Drug store dupe. I did have one in my cart, all the same, as I have waited so long to try this glowy wonder in a bottle. Somehow when the payment was going through, it froze, and the website said that the product was no longer available. I was a little miffed at the time. But now I realized I managed to dodge a bullet. I wanted a lighter shade. I deeper ones look cheap and very orange, like kiddies makeup. I find the the same thing, with a number of US products. Especially if they are popular. The British products, like Revolution, play fair, and stay true to the current exchange rate. Maybe it is because we are still part of the Commonwealth. I do not know? I hope in future, that popular drugstore products, play fair, and give the people living in the Southern. Hemisphere a fair go, with the price and earlier access to your drugstore favourites. 😢
hello Allie, I think your husband is right, but the reason could be that E.L.F shade is darker and that might have played a role in terms of how it looks as highlighter, for him. Always love your content. Love from Norway ❤
I’d be interested in trying this when it isn’t constantly sold out as most viral products are. I bought a small size of the CT HFF, but I got a shade that is definitely too dark for my skin. I was hoping for something more similar to the Becca backlight priming filter. I feel like the CT side looks nicer on you only because it looks like the elf one is more luminous- the CT seems to give life but not be so sheeny. Minor difference.
I’ve heard that a chemist compared ingredients and actually gave higher marks to the Elf formula as having more effective/better quality skin benefiting properties.
The CT one gives me cystic acne whereas the ELF doesn't so for me the low price is just a bonus
I wouldn’t actually be surprised.
Do you know who the chemist is?
@@hannah_wommack sorry. I don’t. It was discussed in another YT video. I’ll try to remember whose it was.

It’s not “more warm toned“ I hate how companies get away with calling shades like these “fair“ when they aren’t.
100% agree I can’t believe that’s fair!!
Exactly. I can’t buy this because the fair shade is way too dark for me :( Ill have to spend my money on the charlotte one if i want a product like this because they have a better shade range
I've not used the CT because of the price but I do like the way the elf product looks on my face.
I was waiting for this review!!! I think I'm going to try it after seeing your review!!! Thanks Allie 💕😊
Would love to know more about ingredients and if it has fragrance, those are the main things I look for before buying
Love how your husband came in and shared his thoughts!
Knowing you are such a fan of the Hollywood Flawless Filter, I was hoping you would review the Elf one. Thanks, Allie!
Really want to try this! I love the Flawless Filter so I know I will love the elf alternative! 😍😍
I personally felt the elf was thicker/heavier than the Charlotte Tilbury. I’m going to try it a few more times.
Xx
I love your eye makeup in this video. Can you tell us what you used?? 💗 please and thank you!
How do they wear?? Hope there was a wear test! Do they last the same way?
I’ve still got the Nars Tinted Glow Booster which is a similar kind of product. I’ve ordered the ELF so I’m interested to see the comparison. Especially as the Nars was limited edition. (I even have a back up 😂)
How exciting! We should get this release in Australia in about 12 months 😔
And New Zealand in 18 months 😂😔
I wish you knew someone in the US to send it to you x
What eyeshadow do you have on?
