Dad used to have one of these in the late 90s. Modified it with G60 headlights and more. When he came to sell it he had a call from someone saying they want to feature it on a magazine. Still has the magazine with him on the top left of the front page. Nice to see you make a video of one jon
@@maverick4177 yeah that's it. I once saw a G60 rallye in a car meet once. Owner fully rebuilt it. Great cars and the smell of petrol from that engine did it for me 😂
I had a early mk2 golf gti,C reg 5 door 8v model,it had the Pirelli alloys on it,I think the colour was mars red, great car and quick, another one of many cars I should have kept,I’d be loaded now😩
How do you rate the Yum Foam+, have you reviewed it. I just tried it and I was really impressed with the results... Be great to see what you think. Ordered Bilt Hamber bits following your recent vid... Will try this weekend if it ever stops raining!
Love a MK2 golf it looks so much better with all that OEM parts back on and the big detail..I would imagine that will now sell quiet easy at the 8-9k mark 👌💚
Mine was a 1986 D reg in Red but small bumpers a quarter lights on doors . I did put big bumpers on it a full Leather interior including rear headrests. I looked on tax checker says it's on a SORN.
Good to bring it back to standard, just need to source an original exhaust and radio. Will be worth so much more if standard, never understood why people want to mod these cars?? 9 times out of 10 they look crap when modded..
Jon honest question for Jon? Does he ever complain about th above Hex lighting when it comes down to working on scratch removal? I ask only because I’m told it can fool what your eyes when it comes to assessing before and after results. Let me know what Martin says👍
Hex lighting is not inspection lighting for paint correction mate. Its purley display lighting so its a modular system you can use to create a sort of showpiece of add a cool look to commercial units etc.. If you want the best lighting for paint correction its the ability to black out the room and use a smaller inspection torch.
The lights also give you a great light and show any marks so they do help when polishing a car for sure, that's why they are so popular in the detailing world They don't give shadow so that's great
I would have used wax is dead ceramic, but this stuff used worked better on this occasion as the plastics needs a very deep black, and when this dried it was ace
Jon this Martin is one of my favorite friends of yours because he has such a variety of cars he works on for customers. Not t mention he recovered nicely from his ankle surgery about 2 years ago 👌🫡 Continue to share Mr. Martin whenever he has time 👌. He’s AMAZING his knowledge 👌👌👌
Giving the ole lady the care and respect she deserves. Massive respect. This was my dream car as a lad. ❤

You mean Rallye headlights? As G60 ones would be the same as these 😂

I had a GTI 16V in the mid 90s. Same colour 💚 One of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Thank you for this fantastic video. Many greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

Ill get shot down for this but i was never a fan of the Golf or the GTI in particular but thats one stunning looking car for its age
My old man had one of these (c reg) he loves it more than any of his kids. Black gti red bbs
Mine was a 1986 D reg in Red but small bumpers a quarter lights on doors . I did put big bumpers on it a full Leather interior including rear headrests. I looked on tax checker says it's on a SORN.
Nice job, but you could have given behind the grill a wipe over while it was out 😂
Just seen this car on eBay, definitely added some digits to the value 😂
Great video
Bought my 16 valve brand new in 91. I still think it was the first car in the UK a Nurburgring sticker on lol
I wish the Canadian VW market was like it is in Europe.
What did you protect it with after polishing 🤷🏻♂️
regen mate. ceramic spray

7 or 8 grand? I'd expect these to be worth more like 20 or 30.
Jon best current snow foam lance in uk??
Mjjc pro v2 m8

124,000! that’s a fair amount.
So glad it doesn’t have 6x9’s in 😂😂
Scorpion DTM exhaust?
Think so m8
Rare as rocking horse sh!t now
My old 16v had a blue flame engineering (Skelmersdale ) DTM pipe on it. It sounded and looked great.
Should have used Gtechniq C4 trim restorer on those plastics instead of that horrible sticky 💩
I would have used wax is dead ceramic, but this stuff used worked better on this occasion as the plastics needs a very deep black, and when this dried it was ace
You've clearly never used solution finish. Its not sticky in the slightest.
Get rid of the single wiper conversion.
Hi sir, if u want to sell the aftermarket inner and out headlight, please let me know and i will buy them. Thanks
is he not working fro WaxIsDead anymore? 🤔
Yes m8 just out grew the unit. Hex needed it's own unit
Most lightly -90 /-91 ( mk2 ) .
-92 ( mk3 )
I’ve a mk2 that’s a J reg and it was registered in January 1992
They did a run out very rare 1993 j plate was 91 / 92
