- Found a real dark patch of earth and wanted to see how the GoPro Hero 7 Black did pointed up at the starry night. I'm actually impressed with how this came out for it being a GoPro. Does it compare to DSLR's? of course not, but for being a tiny little camera i'm happy with the result. Let me know if you have any questions
Simply amazing stuff
Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this - I am totally inspired!!!

This is so helpful Fares! Thank you! I got my Hero 7 Black (the Silver wasn’t doing the job for my timelapses) and I’m excited to try these settings!

Thank you bud excellent footage, do you know if there is a attachment for GoPro to attach for a telescope? Thank you Fares i live in Vegas so if you ever want to go out for dark sky we sure have it here, all the best craig
Thank you.
Thank you! Hope you found the video useful
Been looking for a nightlapse from hero 7 for awhile now, good job on this one man. By the way, what's your current gear filming this video of yours?
Thank you! Hope it helps! Currently I’m using a Sony A6500 and sigma 30mm 1.4 to record. I also have a sigma 16mm 1.4 for vlogging.
Wouldn't linear make it appear square opposed to wide looking like a fisheye?
if you use external battery, do you have to remove the gopro battery first?
seeeeeekkk
DJ Marrs thank you!
I have been through you video which you made like a amazing however I have a question how we can connect those all pictures in Timelapse with speed can you help me out this
Hi Wasim! I put all the pictures into Final Cut Pro (you can use any video software) it will convert the pictures to a video and all you need to do is speed it up
Great video! What do you use for your external battery?
Thank you... 20k milliamp, it’ll power the GoPro in time lapse mode for hours
Great video. I plan on waterproofing my GoPro with swimmers Moldable silicone earplugs And putting a spare power bank into a Tupperware container with a hole
How to attach external battery
hi fares.
may i knw which brand u use for the extended/external battery u'v mention about??
coz at my place i cnt find one for my 7 black.
thy just advice me to use powerbank😅
kindly help me out
Hello... The brand I have is Anker powercore, 20100mAh... it’s about 50 U.S. dollars on Amazon
do you have to keep the go pro battery in the camera when you are using the external battery?
Hye fares 👋, I noticed that our gopro setting for time lapse is the same.. only 3 modes are available which are timewarp video, time lapse photo and night time lapse photo.. but in the other videos that I watched on the RUclips showed there are actually 4 modes and the one that we dont have is the time lapse video mode.. could you please tell me why ?
I have timelapse video on my Hero 7 Black. Have you tried scrolling through the different modes? Mine is right under Time Warp.
My nightlapse’s with my hero7 always make the the stars blue, not all look blue. For instance, let’s say the Big Dipper will show half of it blue (stars) so in the next image, a couple of them won’t be blue anymore. What is causing this?
What color do they change to? What settings are you using? Change your settings to show like mine in this video. Also, it might be the area you are filming in, maybe there is some source of light polluting your images. The best outcomes will be in as dark a place as possible.
I want to say thanks for the tips and this guide i had i pretty decent night timelap, would you tell where you found those radio voices ?
You can google “nada audio recordings” there’s so many to choose from. Thank you for watching my vid :)
Oops... NASA lol... not nada
Fares Alti lmao 😂
My phone hates me lol
thanks the settings i am about to try in the flesh, p.s. i too am stoned
My cuz is named Faris and Fares (Jordanian) nice videos thanks man
Shukran ya habibi, ahlan ou sahlan
@@faresalti8561 where u from ya hej
where did you get GoPro Studio, because GoPro doesn't support it an more? And can you share it with me?
Wow you’re right, it’s no longer available. I got it years ago when I bought my Hero 4. But you’re better off with other programs, Studio was very limited in what you can do with it
Go and try "davinci resolve 15", that's a great and free software^~^
I actually have it but faaaak I don’t want to learn a new editing platform lol. But I see people doing great things with it, I’ll learn it soon.
@@faresalti8561 Yeah, you'd absolutely grow into that faster than you think.
I am still not that experienced, but as I have never editet anything in my life before and often have a hard time understanding it, 'cause the programm is written in english and unfortunately my brain is not, it' s really not that hard.
I'd give you one month and I bet you'd be totally into it. ;P
Shutter - 30s
Interval - Auto
FOV - Wide (fix in post)
Raw - Off (I dont think you can really tell difference for night lapse)
Protune - On
WB - 3200
ISO MIn & Max - 400
Sharpness - Low
Golor - Gopro (dont need flat profile for the night sky)
Cool thanks, I’ll try those settings next time
@@faresalti8561 1600 iso is too much for gopros, too much noise. and a 30s shutter lets enough light in. Maybe 800 iso but I wouldn't go higher than that
I'm going to try using linear. I've always used wide then corrected in post. Can never really get it to look quite right
Yeah I’m curious to see what linear does
keep high
Gopro studio got discontinued and I can’t download it 😤
Yeah it wasn’t good anyway, I prefer final cut... some of the other viewers replied that divinci reolve also works well, and that is free
You might want to actually export what the stars look like in the time lapse and add them to your edits in the future. The screen grabs just don’t do it justice. You can barely see anything.
Yeah it’s kind of dark right? I’ll do that in the future, thanks for the feedback
@@faresalti8561 Yeah it just doesn't do it justice. What you're looking at on a monitor vs what we're looking at of a screen grab is going to be wayyyyy different.
What’s that size of your SD card?
Oh I thought you’d never ask hehe... it’s 64 gig
What editing software where u using?
Combination of Lightroom and Final Cut... the video explains how I used each one
@@faresalti8561 too that was a fast response for a one year vid, just subbed, thx
Arthur Bruntato lol thank you! The notifications come in the same no matter how old the video is. Hopefully I can still reply back that fast when I have (Dr. Evil voice) one miiiiiiillion followers haha
what is your editing photo software
Lightroom

Is gopro studio free for pc?
Hello and thanks for watching, GoPro studio is no longer available
@@faresalti8561 well thx anyways bro...
WB is stuck with 5500k when shutter speed is not on auto. Another GoPro 7 bug
great. So, that gopro studio is gone..isnt it?...nothing like that for free available?...the gopro quick thing i don't like..
Yeah studio is gone :( I use Lightroom and final cut... but those aren’t free. Wish I knew of a free one for you :( there might be, but I just don’t know about it
@@faresalti8561 thanx for the reply👍.. just would need something quick abd simple.. gopro quick app is quick but very confusing and limited.. imo.. cheers, good work and videos!
The stars are too many! Did you actually see those stars in naked eye?
With your naked eye you can see even more stars. It’s really difficult for camera sensors to capture stats because the light is so dim. Cameras need light, right? The bigger the camera sensor, the more light you can capture with the camera. That’s why I’m so impressed that this tiny little GoPro with its tiny little sensor did so well. A normal camera (DSLR type) would have done better of course, because the camera sensor is bigger and can capture more light.
