Every year or so John Palir and I collaborate to strap a dream guitar together that we think will delight John's customers as much as myself. I'm very fortunate to be able to work with John on this level and even more fortunate to own several of his guitars. This year we've gone for a 'blackguard' take on the La Cabronita Especial. The Palir Titan C4 features stainless steel 6105 frets, an S1 Cabronita Especial circuit, soft V 9.5" oiled maple neck and a superb ash body. To top it off we're running Jason Lollar's insanely great Lollartron Traditional Mod pickups which have Alnico 5 magnets in them. I'm more than a little besotted with these pickups.
For this video I've chosen to run the guitar through Fender Super and HIWATT DR103 models in my Axe-FX II XL+ as this is how I'll be running it on stage. I gave up 'real' amps for stage use a long time ago because the hit/miss quality ratio for backline hire was beginning to sway in the direction of 'miss' making every gig risky. I've had no such experience with Fractal Audio in the 5 years I've been running it exclusively.

Hah! Welcome to the club :D. I put Lollartrons in my hardtail strat some time ago after playing the Chris Cornell signature 335 at a store & being completely floored how good it sounded.. Best decision I've made in a long time - those pick-ups are the perfect balance between warmth and clarity. Unbelievably sweet sounding without ever getting mushy. Worth every freaken penny!

Yeah. It was a ripper. The pickups and stainless frets helped a lot. I let it go to my brother-in-law however because it was too heavy. I don't like them unless they're 3.3kgs or less. I've since landed a couple of the Fender LTD ED. Cabronitas and they're great too.
Terrific looking and sounding guitar. That button had a bit of a dark channel effect to it. The mid-pick up position sounded like two guitars at once. Just great.
That's really nice. I was going to put a TVJ Classic + bridge and Supertron neck combo in my current Cabronita build but these Lollars have swayed me, definitely going to have these now. Lush!
Well this sealed the deal for me. Putting these in american pro ii tele deluxe i recently got, but the pickups were a bit quiet and dark for my liking, but i love the feel of the neck/guitar.

Is the S1 circuit set Burgs, or is there internal trimming available? Like the idea of having a volume for each pickup on my bridge humbucker/ neck p90 tele build, and a similar S1 engaged tone circuit. Any chance of a wiring diagram for the tone circuit?
I’ve been chasing a wiring diagram from Everyone with no success. Could you take a photo and send it at least???

I was thinking about some Filtertrons in an Ash body tele style guitar I have (classic tele bridge and bridge pickup). It has had both P90s and now minihumbucker in the Neck, but both are dark compared to the bridge pickup. I was thinking, this Lollartron mod pickup might have the chime that I have so far been missing in the neck position
This is a great guitar. It is now in the possession of James Reyne, the singer/songwriter whom I spend my days touring with.

This guy!! Good player but he's allergic to clean tones or even slightly dirty. Thirty seconds of clean or low overdrive and he has to immediately go full-on distortion....or he breaks out into a rash I guess. 🙂
