I adore your abandoned videos Jay ... all your videos are fun and amazing I always have your abandoned videos close to my heart and this is the very first I saw of yours and it is what brought me to your channel and I subbed to you right there and then and I have never looked back since. I particular loved it as everywhere you went you pretended that the phones rang. You are amazing huni and I think you are one of the best here on RUclips. Thank you for entertaining us Jay ... xx
@@barbara-pigeonbray4579 Did you say you saw the Ghost? Where was that huni? Oh yes I saw him at 2:12:03 it or he looked like he had a strange mask on lol.
This Christmas my parents, aunts, uncles watched this FULL video. For so long this resort has been a memorable thing in my family for GENERATIONS. My great grandparents my great great grandparents etc. worked here it was so cute seeing them so happy when they found this video. In every room you showed everyone had a story, they all got so upset that it is abandoned like this! It was a sweet moment they all talked about who they remembered working here and all their memories. EACH room they were so happy to see. Thank you for sharing this!
Plane tickets have gotten more affordable. Who wants to go to a run down Catskills hotel these days when there are better options? I'm sure that in the year 1960, the Nevele was a fantastic place. But by 1990, the Nevele was already showing its age. (I saw a room, which consisted of a bright kelly green carpet which hadn't been updated in 20-30 years, forest green bedspreads, mismatched decor, and dark, musty hallways leading to the room). Maybe, the big draw was the outdoor pool. The pool WAS indeed beautiful, BUT that would mean staying in one of their dingy rooms. It is possible that the rooms in the tower were a little better. (The room I was shown was in one of the other buildings), but I somehow doubt that even their best rooms were MUCH better. That oven in the penthouse looked like it was older than I am, and I was born in 1980. Their ski area was a bunny hill and there were also rumors that some of the rooms had critters (bed bugs). So if you stay there, sleep tight and don't let the buggies bite. Pleasant dreams.
Came across a video posted 4 days ago (4/19/2024) of an explore of just the circular building and the employee resident building had just burned down. I searched for more on the Nevele and found your video. This resort was massive and quite the place! I bet it was a wonderful place to visit. I love all the comments from the people that have memories of being there. Great video.
I went to the Nevele with my family in 1975, 77, and 1981. Really too bad. Time marches on, people went elsewhere as the 80s traversed into the 90s, etc...they have a lot more options now and the Borscht Belt passed away. It was super important to many, in particular Jewish families who had been denied entry to hotels and resorts earlier in the 20th century. Amazing number of entertainers and other figures who appeared at Nevele. I saw Pat Cooper do his standup there, late 70s, wearing a light blue leisure suit. Awesome. Great swimming, great camp for kids, I had such a great time there, such great memories.
My father used to work at the Nevele Grande, and was friends with the owner. He let my dad rent the first house up in the woods by the old paintball trail. We lived there until the place shut down in 2009. I was 10 when it closed. I like looking back on these videos sometimes just to reminisce.
I went here not too long after it closed and it was so cool. A lot of it was still perfect and then a few spots were just starting to show decay. Pretty much everything was still in it and right where it was left. Like the big club/theater still had all the chairs, all the stars were still on the walls. The gym still had all the equipment. Some of the rooms were literally nicer than the shitty hotel we stayed in the night before lol. It was a good time but some of it was too perfect. I wish I'd gone back a year or two later before a lot of it got trashed. It's cool a lot stayed nice too though. It was still pretty protected then too. Security had a base set up in the circular tower building but we lucked out on a holiday and they weren't in there and only patrolled a couple times then took off
Frozen spiders and ringing phones ...ghosts ?( played it back and saw him too.. .) .Thank you for another visit to Nevele...an amazing place ....looked like so much fun in its hayday .Love the old photos for comparison ..I never understand why so much stock is left behind ...a lot of money "down the drain " . The outro was fun ..... just clowning around !
I took a ride there a few days ago. I applied for a job there before they closed. Its beautiful to look at. I live 30 to 40 minutes from there. Thank you for sharing this video!
I watched your earlier videos of the Nevele and loved them. Thank you for this latest, your videos show the Nevele before it became so horribly trashed. The latest videos of it are heartbreaking, so I saved yours to watch when I get sad over seeing what it looks like now. I will add this one to my collection. The Nevele will always be special to me, and I'm sure I will shead tears when it's finally gone.
This must’ve been fantastic in its glory day! Some shots looked like they dated back to the 1950’s while others looked very 70’s-ish. Reminds me of the resort from Dirty Dancing which depicted the late ‘50s and early 60’s Catskills resort types. Great video JP…I was fascinated by it all! 👍
WOW! Words can't describe this explore. In its prime, it must have been quite the resort. Too bad like so many places, it's time has come and gone. Thank you Jay for the revisit to this amazing explore. 👊👍🤙
@1:48:00 when you're talking about not wanting to walk that way. I was just there last weekend and that whole side of the building is collapsed. The amount of graffiti and general vandalism that has happened since this is INSANE
Wow. I thought "The Proper People" did a great explore of this place a couple of years ago. But man, you've more than anyone has here. Great video again. I love your urban exploration videos.
So incredible to see! I used to go there every year with my parents when I was younger. Spent Friday & Saturday nights with them in the showroom and later in the teenager’s Cousin Brucie Room.
This has to be one of the best videos I've seen. I've seen other videos on this resort but don't remember seeing hardly any of what you showed. I can only imagine this place when it was still in business. I can't believe how huge it was. And the phone is still hooked up after all these years was crazy!!! Wish it could have been kept up and returned to its glory days
Thank you for sharing this. For an old mechanic and body man like me seeing all that equipment just left sort of hurts, not just the snow crawler and the big equipment but things like the skis and boot and ice skates. It just seems like such a waste, but then over 100 years of history just decaying is too.
Being a lifeguard at the pool ( shown at 25:15 ) was one of my jobs as an athletic director at the Nevele when I worked there in the winter of 1964. There were so many beautiful Jewish girls. There were 5 of us athletic directors that managed the recreation activities (and we worked the spotlights during the weekend shows --- spotlight booth at 1:00:29 and theater shown just after)). --- $40/week and we got room (in the old hotel) and board (the same fantastic meals 3X/day as the guests) for free.
What a great revisit, very awesome! I watched it while having coffee this morning. lol I had watched your previous videos on this too. I imagined again what this place was like back in the day with all the action of people coming and going and all the events happening and so forth. There sure were some creepy areas in there, but I am positive it was such a fun place and very beautiful at one time! Thank you JP!
Awesome abandoned video JP! Seeing the old pictures and the present day in ruins plus seeing that snowplow gives me "The Shining" vibes! It sure was a beautiful place in its heyday!Great ending! Thanks for bringing us along for the adventure!
When my mom was alive she went to the Catskills several times. Mostly with the church group. Don't know where they stayed. She passed in 2007. Or she'd be 103 in December. I wish I could have gone up there back in the day.
The owners also bred standardbred horses at Nevele Farms, many of which ran at Monticello Raceway, a nearby harness racing track. Nevele Pride, a trotter, was the crown jewel of their breeding program. He went on to become one of the legends of the sport.
WOW I didn't know that they were closed down I used to go there every winter when I was a kid and when I was a teenager I even spent my 21st birthday there too
This was one of my favorite explores! Thanks for the reupload! Grossingers was another favorite.. I don't remember if it was you or someone else who went there.
Excellent so awesome one of my all time favorite videos of yours the memories that place holds is incredible history I could watch this video over and over I'm glad you got this footage this place will never be forgotten with this video👍👍👍👍✌

Thanks again Jay, these are probably our favorites of your videos if not definitely in the top five. Hasn't gotten old and I drag a couple friends in to watch also send to FB friends. CCW.
I love your videos and especially enjoy reading the comments of the workers or people that have visited some of these places. The 1970's and 1980's was a great time to grow up because Mall's were still such a fun place to go. Our local Mall has a rumor that the "friendly" employee at the Arcade was arrested for messing with some of the young boys. That was our introduction in our teen years that everything in the world is not so innocent. This same mall has in the last 20 years have had robberies and also sexual assault but they do everything to keep it out of the media.
Such a place !! What a shame and a huge waste !! They had a nice range of amenities provided for there guest's and there employees !! I bet this place was rockin 24 hrs a day 7 days a week when it was open !! Wonder how many people stayed in that penthouse 🤔 ? What a sad waste .....but we wouldn't have this cool video either thank you for looking into every little room and nook and cranny as well this place was Awesome for sure !! Great video as always !! 👍👍
By 1990 or some time around there, the place was already showing its age. The pool was still nice, but we saw a room, and it was pretty bad. The building had an "earthy" smell to it, which was likely mold and everything in the room felt like it was stuck in a time warp. The decor was mismatched with a bright kelly green carpet, forest green bedspreads, and hallways that were dark and eerie. The place was past its prime 35 years ago.

Love the tune 🎶 So sad that it's left there to decay looks like fun in the days thanks for showing JP. Lol love the ringing phone wish I had one like that hard to find nowadays 🤣

Have you been to the weird old Asian-Style Resort on the other side of Ellenville going towards Grahamsville ? If you ever do or are interested, lemme know, I'd love going with you.
fantastic explore, took me a few sittings to watch the whole video but well worth it ..hard to think all that stuff was left behind, probably worth well into the thousands of dollars if not more I think 2023 will be filled with plenty of great videos take care
NuTone is a vintage intercom system for use thru out a building. A radio was a high end option and that panel in the library was was the hub. They could also be used to listen in selected rooms as well.
Turns out that snow groomer was sold to Geremy Renner. When you were sitting on the chair lift and said you were going to take a ride…..I knew who I was dealing with at that moment. Well done. Thanks for documenting and posting this.
If you come back & find my comment at the top I left time stamps so you can see the TWO figures & the two 'figures' standing in the dark at the end. Fun vid.
I used to come here all the time as a kid whenever my family and I wanted to get out of the city and go on a mini vacation, still really sad that the place shut its doors in 2009 :(
Omg Jay, I remember this resort in New York as it was my very first video I watched of yours. Thank you for returning there as I did speak to some ones wife who's husband used to live thee and told me that the owner treated the staff really well and they were some of the happiest times of their life was working there. Right now as I write this im at 50:08 and no toy yet to say it was officially abandoned but at least you found the Christmas stuff as you said you were sure if it was officially abandoned ha ha ha that made me laugh, bless you Jay. I am so glad you placed your slogan on a t shirt. Do you ship to England Jay? If so I want to buy one of those tees. I forgot her name but she was really nice and one of your subscribers. I miss your friend in your videos too. I am a fan of Janet Jackson and the Jacksons and Michael ...Thank you so much for this epic explore Jay this was so amazing to watch all over again as it has a place in my heart as it was the very first I watched of yours. Take care Jay hope you had a great Christmas and New Year 🥰💝😀..
It's a shame😢 they're gonna blow that building up! keep on doing what you're doing. But,I still think you should bring someone with you at all times. Why I say that ? is because I care. A quick reminder. The carpet going upstairs is beautiful. I believe it is burber Carpet, Not shag. Shag is cut at the end, and looks Fluffy. a little while ago, I watched the one you went into a spill way tunnel under the city all the way through to the Open end, there was a business or home and then you went all the way back. that was awesome, And fascinating. I wanted to jump through the TV and join you there. It's like calgon, it takes me away. God bless, take care, be safe..
Those things on hangers were bedspreads and curtains, not clothing. Great vid. So sad it's to be destroyed. I used to train urban search and rescue and this would have been a great place to hide for the doggos.
Whenever I feel like it. Been a little while since I was there, but I've filmed several resorts there and the abandoned subway tunnel in Roches Rochester.
@@JPVideos81 My family started going in the 60’s til the time they closed. It was our annual winter vacation. We did everything that place had to offer. I remember the commercial & the song! I’m from NJ and my family would go every year. My brother my sister and I went there after it closed to look around. For such a popular resort we could never understand why it closed. They were always packed when we went there. Hopefully they will restore it soon. 😢 Such a waste of equipment. You’d think they could’ve auctioned off everything of value to recoup their losses. Wow, I remember skating on that rink. I’ve got to tell my family to subscribe to your channel to see this. Great memories of my childhood and 20’s. Thanks ~ Pris Brielle, NJ
Spent honeymoon 1971 in room 888 in the tower and returned every year until 1991 either same room or penthouse if brought family. Seeing the old stove I wish it could be gotten, used it to cook popcorn and watch TV nights. The resort was almost exclusively Jewish clientele and all kosher foods.
Do these places just go outta business, employees go home, and they just leave and never come back? I always find it weird in these type of videos that so much stuff is left behind. I mean, they could've sold the furniture when it closed, those ski boots, and that expensive land equipment. I really enjoyed the video. I've liked and subscribed. Thx!

NuTone is a vintage intercom system for use thru out a building. A radio was a high end option and that panel in the library was was the hub. They could also be used to listen in selected rooms as well.
2:13:07 masterfully done 🫶🏼
Great vid jp!
Be careful with all that mold. Take care of yourself.
Love the video
Turns out that snow groomer was sold to Geremy Renner. When you were sitting on the chair lift and said you were going to take a ride…..I knew who I was dealing with at that moment. Well done. Thanks for documenting and posting this.
It's good to see you with this video, but really sad to see how this place has been let go/neglected and abandoned.
Enjoyed the video, thx so much.
You got me! I was startled
Fun video ! My comment up top has the time stamps of the two 'ghosts'😉 and the two 'figures'that were standing in the dark.😉
Lived my whole life within 20 minutes of the place. Never went there though.
Like I said a little fixing up over time and place could thrive again!!!🙂👍
will you revisit the the Nevele Resort as now to has become of the Resort. I like love see those kind of videos . and thank you
Did that telephone really ring? That was hilarious 😂🤣😂
🤔😁
@@JPVideos81 the first time it happened I was like the phones are still working there?
I think the place that you didn't like and felt "on edge" could have been the Staff Quarters....?? But what an enormous place!
Fascinating....ran for 90 years.....destroyed in 10.....society is amazing
Thanks!
Thank you Heather 💙
This one is awesome 😎
This was a really really interesting video. But the end made me jump a little lol
😁
Good video! Yes you did see someone!!! They were in a black shirt and white (skeleton) looking mask standing behind the counter. Creepy!!
Yeah, I saw it. Someone was standing there!!
If you come back & find my comment at the top I left time stamps so you can see the TWO figures & the two 'figures' standing in the dark at the end. Fun vid.
Hi Jay I just saw your video on nevele Place wasn't interesting place I remember the first video you did on it I watched that one as well good job.
Thanks for the videos. We go to the Catskills. It's pretty cool
I used to come here all the time as a kid whenever my family and I wanted to get out of the city and go on a mini vacation, still really sad that the place shut its doors in 2009 :(
Great video! Enjoyed watching Went to Nevele few weeks ago, is this by the hotel?
Great Video! Loads of footage.
Someone needs to go in and buy the place and take time redoing all buildings and opening place back up it can be profitable again!!! 🙂👍❤️
Very cool video JP.
2:12:02 i did see someone standing there too, that was creepy!

@@JPVideos81 Thank you xx
Awesome editing.
Hey, can you link to Mike's and her channels? Love this video. Want to also see theirs.
His channel is already linked in the description, she doesn't have a channel
Glad to have you along for my adventures
The Nevele was actually the first ski resort in the US to use the artificial snow machines.
I could use all of that silverware and dishes LOL 😂
A riding stable.🙂👍
your vids are cool-me likey, buffalo, ny
Those things on hangers were bedspreads and curtains, not clothing. Great vid. So sad it's to be destroyed. I used to train urban search and rescue and this would have been a great place to hide for the doggos.
Dangerous Villa man...yikes! Be careful in those moldy places.
My husband and I both worked there until 2008. Would have loved to see if my name was still outside my office.
How often do you come to upstate NY? There is so many abandoned places everywhere!
Whenever I feel like it. Been a little while since I was there, but I've filmed several resorts there and the abandoned subway tunnel in Roches
Rochester.

My family started going in the 60’s til the time they closed.
I knew someone who stayed at this resort back in the 80's.
Many people commented under my original videos who stayed there and have wonderful memories.
when did you go? I shot a video here in December and it looks way more cleaned up from your video
Weddings would have been so beautiful there back in the day
Do these places just go outta business, employees go home, and they just leave and never come back? I always find it weird in these type of videos that so much stuff is left behind.
I mean, they could've sold the furniture when it closed, those ski boots, and that expensive land equipment.
I really enjoyed the video. I've liked and subscribed. Thx!
The Villa might of been one one the original parts of the resort judging by the style of the tubs. Then turned it employee lodging vs. remodeling.
Good possibility. Thanks for sharing.
