    How can anyone find you and your videos boring, we enjoy watching every single one of your videos. Life is about the journey, the journey is just as, if not more important than the destination, the people who don't see that about the journey, miss out on so much. Your videos are always entertaining.
    My brother and I would never miss an adventure, we take many roads and non roads in a 2wd that many won't take with a 4wd, if we didn't take those roads, although a little rough and overgrown to a point we might gain a few scratches on the car along the way, we would miss out on the adventure and whatever lies at the end of the track. We take the track every time, unless it's really bad, big ruts and very boggy or deep sand, in which case we walk it.

    I really enjoyed this video. Being from just north of here, I find the old railroad and coal mining ruins fascinating. I went on Google Earth and found the area you were exploring. It's amazing that what looks so remote is nestled in a heavily developed area. The landscape also looks much different in the winter than the summer images on Google Earth. I could not find the 1893 structure in the woods. The pipe supports were a great find, too. Good work. Keep these coming!

    What a good adventure, I'm not sure but here in central texas, there are those same rock walls, some for keeping the soil from washing away,
    And some look like retaining walls around homes. But water was an issue on some. Here it was the Norwegian's that settled here an they did the walls.

    Curious JP, I'm stuck on trying to figure out what all we saw in this video. it's a little hard being here in Illinois... What bridge was that you went under, "Mill Street???" If so I was curious if there was a "Mill" right there, it looks to be possible previous site of one on Google Map on your few on your left as soon you started down the tracks. If so I think it might explain everything we seen. If I'm right about the Mill I'll let you know about my hunch on the rest.

    jp, my favorite part was the old pump house, the dam, and the old railroad track signals. Enjoyed it very much, thank you! I also did like the music too. Yes, please make some more videos like this one, it was interesting. I did some research on an old mill that we have here in Tennessee & I found out that a local mill wright had some irish stone masons brought over from Ireland. They built the dam here in my town & the foundation for the mill. They said that after the work was done, they moved on to other states plying their trade. To me, that is interesting, it takes a skilled laborer to make a stone wall that will last. Chances are the stone walls you found were made by experienced stone masons. (I guess this was back before the illegal alien problem....lol, in the 1800's)

    • @markvick3984
      @markvick3984 4 года назад

      A lot of the old mill stones at the grist mills were cut by specialized stonecutters from Europe. It's interesting to see how they cut them with grooves that would move the ground grain out to the edges of the stones as it was milled. There are several of these on display at Fall Creek Falls in Tennessee.

      @@markvick3984 Mark, thanks for the info! Yes, I have been to several mills in Tennessee, I have a special interest because my grandfather worked at one & I have a picture of him in his mill w/all the workers there, I think it's from the 1920's. It was a lumber mill in north Carolina. (I think I have been to fall creek falls, just can't remember right now)

    Hi Jason .. at least you are trying and i love that you include all your followers .. its real nice of you. Be careful of the tracks sweetheart .. Wow you have warm weather there at the end of January. Over here in England all we get is rain and its getting worse nowadays. I agree i think those stones have been placed there but i don't know what it was. You get to go to some beautiful places J .. I love this its like going with you on an adventure yay. Yes the blue sky is beautiful and its great that you have warm weather there. I hope an ATV doesn't come your way with all those puddles. Once we had bad rain and i worked at a primary school at the time and a car came round the corner real fast and didn't slow down and it hit the giant puddle which was on the side of the road and they splashed me i was wet through from top to bottom and i was at work all day trying to dry off lol. Wow i wonder what those supports were for in the stream? All way through the video im saying in my mind please be careful J .. Ha ha yep a child's bike so its officially abandoned lol. Great awesome video J .. always love them and my fave part was to see that hut and the structures in the water holding the pipes x

    Loved it all but especially the buildings next to the dam wall. Very impressive. I kept thinking..hydro power...would be ideal..all that water power going to waste lol... It never ceases to amaze me just how much hard, heavy labour must have gone into building with stone, for retainment walls and buildings, back then. I also wondered about steam trains but the size and amount of those pipes had to be sending water to towns or even cities. Has to be more than just run off pipes. Maybe the retainment walls were to keep the mountain from sliding into the river.? Did you mention the name of the river? I might have missed it. Anyway, it was great fun. I could watch you do that all day long lol.. I love your adventures.Just keep doing what you are doing. it's perfect. :-)

    At 32:15- further upstream near silver lake another pipe (or it could be a continuation of this same pipe) crosses the brook. It is very unique, it reminds me of the golden gate bridge. It has suspension cables. Also, remember the broken pipe under the 380 twin bridges? I don't think these pipes are in use anymore. Upstream of silver lake a pipe crosses the brook again. Concrete was poured over the pipe to keep it from breaking. Near routes 348,435 and I84 the pipe is broken again, with one section standing about 20' straight up and down!

    It's unfortunate that someone had no respect or appreciation of the beautiful stone masonry of the 1893 pumphouse and sprayed graffiti on it. The property I grew up on just North of NYC had long 2 foot high stacked stone walls to designate our boundary with the power line towers' land. Along the drive to NYC from upstate on smaller highways, you'll see long, stacked stone walls in the woods. They might be to designate privately-owned land from state-owned land and from the looks they were built well more than half a century ago.

    I think it was hand made with that pipe to hold back that hill side of dirt. You must of painted that sky what a good job you did. I love the nature to find roonus or how ever that is spelled. You are right I don't gave the accessibility to walk in the woods. I think its great for what you do.Naturs Carpet. This was excellent JP. I just can't believe how much water there is in PA. Its kinda scarrry.

    Jay, do you watch Greem Mountain Metal Detecting? He does metal detecting in Vermont. He goes to a lot of abandoned homesteads in the mountains, and there is a lot of stone walls that look 5he same as what you found. I believe the piled up stone was either a makeshift wall or sock pile for making stone walls. The wall with the pipe may have been a foundation for a house. Idunno if it was necessarily a homestead the pipe would sugest it was much later.

    As I recall walking there quite a while ago, there was the remains of a two lane road that went towards Elmhurst. It had really old guard rails made of cable and wooden posts. I imagine that was the main road to NY before all the newer ones like 380 and 435. It looks like the Old Drinker Turnpike on Google Maps. I used to like walking the pieces of it.

    JP Morgan was NYC water department the pipe was wood boards with banding around it. It became a Bank the wood became rolled steel with rivets and tunnels is bedrock under the city Dolomite it was called?

    @18:00 + - ... man made retaining supports for the "road" you seem to be walking down. It may have been someone's cabin or another support building of a now gone water plant???

    Great video, now that I am old I miss walking in the woods like I used to when I was a kid. Your videos bring back lots of memories of lots of things, that I am now missing in my later years. Ever been to concrete city, it is a shame what the kids done to that today, When we where kids we used to go there to have pig apple fights, but we never ever thought of graffiti. I guess we had to much respect for property that wasn't ours. Concrete city looks a mess right now. I finally made it back to this area about 5 years ago, I am still looking for a concrete creek that used to be across from Concrete city, it had a round tunnel, and then a stone arched tunnel , then I believe a sort of square tunnel as you went further up the creek, It was concrete with thick steel fences I guess to stop the logs from going down, and right on that creek there use to be a cave the we called the cool cave, it had cold air coming out cold enough to have snow at its opening during the summer months. I can't remember the way to get to that darn cement creek tried twice to find it and now I believe it don't exist any more,

    @55:40 :
    Retaining walls. They are used to raise a land area to build on, or, to keep the land from washing or eroding away, like a back or side yard. In this case, I suspect it protected the retained land from potential flooding from the river, if the gates upstream were opened to control upper river flooding.

    I love this video. It's a walk for me too. Friends lived there way back. Pipes may have been gas lines instead of 💧 water. Or yes water for a big city.

    looks like a good spot for hydroelectric.
    the old pumphouse...after cleaning up and leveling out ....i think could be a great place for kids to have swings and a little hangout play area
    rocks could have been from local area and stacked to provide terracing to prevent water erosion. not put there for the pipe but the other way around...the pipe was to handle the water from further up the hill
    I thought they were Indian burial mounds.
    the man made pillars and pipes....I think could only be for either drinking water or sewer or flood run off
    the stacked stones could be a property boundary marker

    I really enjoyed your video. I to used to walk up the railroad tracks and discover places and things that were of interest to me. Although this was up in northern British Columbia. I now am unable to get out of the house due to my health. Watching the video I am intrigued by the fact that there is bedrock on the surface of the ground. As for the pipes they may have been part of a waterwheel mill set up. Anyway I loved your video, thank you for taking the time out to show us where you went.

    JP, the dam and pipes might have been used for the old canals in that area around Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. The Lehigh Canal that went to White Haven down to Allentown then east over to Easton where it entered Delaware.

    Very cool video, I would like to see if you can get permission to see those buildings across the spillway. Yes that was a neat building. Reminds me of a old railline that started 30 miles up into the woods to a little town that had a mill and we would walk the line

    At 16:29 as you are walking along the big stones, just after the pump house, you can see something lying between the stones and where you are stepping. It looks like huge old cog wheel, it could be the backbone of a deer, but I don't think so.

    At 17:23, my guess is the stones were placed there. When stones are placed in a line it is generally a type of border or barrier. IMO. They may delineate railroad property. They may have been in the way when they built the railroad.

    At 23:00, there are numbers on the side of the metal under the concrete. I am most sure it was a railcar. Did you ever go back to see for yourself? Also, there are tracks from a motorcycle knobby tire in the concrete.
