- South Sudan is on the verge of a devastating hunger catastrophe. That's the warning from the World Food Programme.
In its short history, Africa's youngest country has been battered by armed conflict and the effects of a rapidly changing climate.
Now, the influx of half a million people -- escaping the violence in neighbouring Sudan -- is worsening an already fragile situation.
Aid agencies say more funding and unhindered access is vital to provide millions of South Sudanese with desperately needed food assistance.
What can be done to address the mass displacement of people from across the border?

The Aid money have been used in the wrong ways over the years making the country more dependent. Money should be put towards empowering communities to become self reliant

Angelina has the right attitude: Why not provide the regular folk with seeds [preferably climate-resilient ones], training if necessary, and equipment so they can fend for themselves in the lean periods [for growing food] between the more climatically favorable seasons? Supplying people with aid that is progressively dwindling with time leads them to a road of _dependency_ and a vicious cycle of hopelessness.
If Rwanda wants to take in the UK's migrants, Rwanda should be helping their closes relatives in Africa. These are Nile Valley people, especially the ones who are pure black, they should be naturally and historically protected. These people who the key to history and man's first civilisation.

Learn to love and help your neighbors so that food insecurity is an easily navigable issue. Logistics for food delivery should not be difficult for neighboring countries.
We humans everywhere still need to rethink our priorities and ensure the people of Sudan have food. We cannot advance until we understand the basics of our very humanity.
When everyone dies from starvation, mother nature will take care of the land and the animals that lives on the land.
