Hello Dennis, Thank you for this informative video. I have a Daiwa BG60 "vintage" reel. Used to belong to my father. I use it regularly. Your video gave me incentive to clean the drag system. It had never been cleaned. Drag system works much better now! Thank you!
Dennis, I have a GS-60SC that is much like this BG. I switched out the SC AR ratchet for the regular ratchet. I did not like the one stop ratchet that is in a Daiwa SC reel. I think that SC may stand for “self-centering.” Other than that l really like these vintage BG reels. I think they are over-priced on the used market but most good vintage reels are these days. Quite honestly there is not a lot of difference between the Daiwa silver series, gold series, and the BG series of vintage reels. I’m glad I collected a lot of reels before the pandemic as it seemed a lot of folks took up reel collecting when we were all so isolated. I do think that the paint on these BG reels holds up better than the paint on the silver series reels. I have 72 vintage Daiwa reels so you know I like them all a lot. Dennis, while Rick was up here in NC from Texas he gave me a PUM version of a Daiwa 7000C that he had built. It is a very nice reel especially for surf fishing. Great video on this BG-60SC! - Chris
Hello, I have a question? On the current model BG 2500, black&gold. Can you tell me if I can just switch the handle assembly T-nob, to the smaller 2000 series with a smaller nob on it. ? Thought you might know, Thanks Ray S.
I don't think so. The 2000 shares the handle with the 1500. The 2500 shares the handle with the 3000. It may not have the same size thread. You can ask that question of Daiwa by using the contact section of their website under support. Here is their link daiwa.us - Dennis
