This is definitely one of the best old Daiwas.
    Love the 7000 series! I’ve got a 7290, a 7600, a 7850, and a 7550HRL

Same here! There is a reason that the top three - Penn, Shimano and Daiwa are the top three!

Dennis, I have two 7850 RLH reels new in the box with everything and another one that has no box. These are the big saltwater reels with the push button AR switch. They are beautiful well made reels. I also have a 7650 RL it is an equally well-made reel. You simply can’t beat these vintage Daiwa reels. Scoot got a good one! I have hot-rodded a number of Daiwa reels but they were mostly Siver series reels - 9000C 50oC 70oC and 1000C. I’ve also done it on a few other vintage reels as well. I’m not overly fond of snap rings. I once had one shoot right into my eye which was absolutely no fun! I think that “HRL” might stand for Handle Right or Left. Is that correct? This was a great video about vintage Daiwa reels. I have 79 vintage Daiwas in my reel collection so you know I like them a lot! - Chris

Hey Chris, I also have a mint 7650 HRL, do you know if they make Carbon-tex drag washers for it?, looking to beef up my reel. I think you're correct, "Handle right-left"
