Some would probably think Iron Man doesn’t make sense, but keep in mind: Thanos was first introduced in an Iron Man comic. Thanos seeing Tony as a worthy foe is both an indication of how much of a threat Tony can be, but also a reference to their first encounter. It’s pretty neat.
I guess that explains why he and Thanos are displayed as nemesis’s in the MCU.
That's why I love Iron Man...he always surprises me of how trully capable he can be.
Ironman is the PRIME example of literal plot armor Lmaoo at least Batman doesn’t ALWAYS fight such powerful foes so it’s a little more believable .

Considering Dr Doom has bested Thanos on more than one occasion, he should definitely make the list.
This is like His really old story line, so made sense if the newer ones got missed, like there's a comic where he said he actively avoid confronting the Hulk cause Figthing him will only bring losses for him even if he wins.
I was saying the same thing but Extinc makes a massive point. I only get into comics when the original infinity Gauntlet 6 issue series came out.

This comic was written in the 70's - much has happened with Thanos since then and I think this list would be different if it were written today. I decided to have a little fun and threw it into Chatgpt:

Not a bad list all things considered -
I'd personally add:
** Thor, All-Father - he wiped out Galactus like he was nothing and Donny Cates, as the writer of Thor and Hulk, settled the argument as to who is truly the strongest between the two characters. It was Thor.
** The Scarlet Witch - because, of course.
Love this list to include Dr. Doom, as it was stated in the comics that Thanos considers him a threat...... I mean come on, he was briefly a god and Infamous Iron Man.
Also, I would include Owen Reece/Molecule Man
Even Thanos himself admitted that he won't wanna enter a physical fight with Hulk, KNOWING FULL WELL he'd lose to our favourite green rage monster
@@AifDaimon That's not why he said that - he never said he'd lose. He supposed that the battle would be troublesome - similar to the battle he had with Thor, adjusted with Warriors madness, wearing the power gem. He couldn't defeat him physically, so he subdued him. He'd do the same with Hulk

I do agree Mar-Vell is more interesting than Carol mainly because Mar-Vell had a more robust background before becoming Captain Marvel. On the other hand, Carol basically began as a blank sleet. Is only very recently more was added to her background like a Kree mother and Kree half-sister; connecting her directly to the Kree instead of an artificial indirect connection through Mar-Vell.

i personakly like carol denvers more she has a more relatable story and she is friends with wolverine and i like her outfits more from when she had the black suit to now tha red/blue outfit and the red blue looks even better.

Where are The Hulk or Doctor Doom?!
Thanos has specifically said he keeps checking on Doom in order to never let the monarch make a plan to outsmart and defeat him and Thanos also thinks his chances in a man-to-man fight against World Breaker Hulk would be 50:50 at best.
Yeah. Thanos even said he intentionally tries to avoid hulk because hulk is someone that gets stronger than longer the fight is since he just keeps getting angrier. He said it's a high risk fighting hulk because if he one day fails to take out hulk early there's a high chance hulk could eventually overwhelm him with his strength.
World war hulk wasnt a thing when that comic was released. 🤦♂️ Please get smarter.

Didn't Thanos also reveal that he tries to avoid fighting hulk because fighting hulk is a high risk since he said you have to take him out as fast as possible if not you'd give him enough time to get and angrier and stronger ?
He said he tries to avoid the risk of one day failing to beat hulk before he rages out more and overwhelms him. Also doctor doom should be on this list. He has outsmarted and beaten Thanos a couple of times in the past.

This might have been true 50 years ago, but after Death resurrected Thanos to bring balance to the universe, he was made orders of magnitude more powerful. None of the characters mentioned here would pose a problem. Thanos without infinity stones or a cosmic cube is nearly on par with Odin and Galactus in sheer power terms, but more clever than both.
I think most people don't differentiate in Thanos' base power vs Thanos with the infinity gauntlet and one or more stones at his disposal. If we are talking just plain Thanos, there is a whole list that could wipe him. Scarlet Witch showed she could rip him apart in End game before he sacrificed his own troops to save his own skin. Vision, Thor, Doctor Strange, Doctor Doom, Namor, and many more could go toe to toe with and even win against Thanos, given he doesn't have the gauntlet with infinity stones.
Get out of here with that cinematic universe bullshit, I love the movies but they don't rewrite decades of history. No way in hell scarlet witch stands a chance against Thanos, what you saw was a feminist agenda at play, scarlet witch and Captain marvel ain't shit. They were never heavy weights and they still aren't.
I was kinda underwhelmed, to be honest. I don't think the writers and myself were on the same page. Lol. Should have gone way more cosmic and over the top with characters like the "One Above All".

We all know that Thanos has gotten incredibly more powerful since then and his character has developed to a much further degree. Even though he respects the hell out of Mar-Vell, he no longer sees any these guys as a threat. Adam Warlock is the only one who may worry him
Though I believe his first appearance was in an Ironman comic, I feel his true rival will always be Silver Surfer. He may have beef with Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock seems more like a buddy rival at times but when I grew up (in the 90s) it was SS.

Other than Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) I feel like Adam Warlock is definitely the most prominent Thanos enemy. Mostly because the Infinity Saga revolves around them, and pretty much every other Jim Starlin book.

Thanos did admit it that Wolverine could kill him, he alluded/hinted that Wolverine is capable of killing him. This was in the Infinity War storyline.

For all the “where’s bigweld” people out there: The context of this list is basically people who could interfere with his current plans, not people who he doesn’t want to fight. Two very different things, I may list the five people in my current location I don’t want to deal with, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t people outside of that as well.

I know Korvac in a ‘ what if’ immediately banished silver surfer, dr. Strange and the phoenix. Those three should be on any cosmic threat list. And in the comic verse the Hulk is always a threat.
Deadpool, Doctor Strange, Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, Sentry, Nova, Squirrel Girl, World Breaker Hulk, Rune King Thor, Black Panther (with a major power boost), and Blue Marvel
You would think Thanos would want some revenge on Squirrel Girl. Doctor Doom too. She could have a pretty heavy rogues gallery if she got a little darker and serious, she's not unlike Scout (Gabby Kinney, formerly Honey Badger) in her power set, super senses, healing factor, sharp claws sorta like Sabretooth, she was trained in hand-to-hand combat by Wolverine and she can "talk" to squirrels like Ratcatcher and rats in DC. Squirrel Girl has so much potential to be a major player in the 616, she needs a movie of her own, maybe a Deadpool spin-off, instead of idolizing Tony Stark she can try being Wade's sidekick before going off on her own adventures.
More accurately, these are the 6 characters Jim Starlin was pushing, because they were central to his current storyline. Storywise it was before Thanos had met or took notice of beings like Adam Warlock, The Silver Surfer, Hulk, Thor, Dr.Doom, The Stranger, The In-Betweener, The Beyonder(s), The Celestrials Galactus, The Living Tribunal, , & of course- Squirrel-Girl, amongst others.

Bruh, I'm surprised that Hulk isn't one of the 6 threats to Thanos! The Hulk gets stronger the madder he gets and there's no limit to how mad or how strong he'll get to the point where he even once fought the Sentry to a freaking standstill! And that's no easy feat! I bet even Thanos would have a hard time doing that!
I doubt it because this is Thanos we're talking about who has kicked ass on or fought to a standstill just about everyone he's ever gone up against.

Years later, Thanos statement is still somewhat true. Once Captain Marvell died from cancer, the Silver Surfer and Warlock took his place. Moon Dragon, although powerful, lacked empathy to become a true champion of life. Drax has been de-buff in the movies and the comics. Additionally, he never truly had free will.

Thanos is strong but usually relies on objects of power and his main strength is his knowledge of them and ability to acquire them.
So any character or team that can disarm him and then brute force a fight can beat him probs.
I don't know of any powers Thanos has besides the basic strongman immortal package. So I guess any character that can forcibly teleport someone could render him a non-threat.
Also psychics and telepaths although the writers would probs just say his mind to strong or make him thunder clap anyone lifting him telekinetically.

For everybody that’s stating other characters should be on there and I totally agree but this was a list of thanos before he had even encountered most of those characters yet. He had stated that he avoids Hulk even tho he would win more fights then he hulk would, he still knows the possibility of hulk actually putting a stop to him which he stated much later after he had many encounters with hulk but none now to say that

Mar-vel's character was by and away far better. the entire story line about him getting cancer and his journey all the way up to his death....an absolute masterpiece of storytelling.

I must correct your assessment of Moondragon. You're premature in claiming she had telekinesis during the period in question. Far as I remember she only gained TK 20 years later after Warlock have her the Mind Gem and formed the Infinity Watch.
