Really love the idea, cuz normally when people talk about ghosts and other paranormal stuff, it’s always about someone alone or in a small group, but a paranormal entity that affects an entire country? Like a ghost god that literally eats everyone in the country who opened their door? Unimaginable!
Reminds me a bit of the 3 days of darkness, how you can't leave your house and the demons will attempt to lure you outside by pretending to be people you know.
To me, a short film that actually managed to scare me is extremely impressive. I normally go for psychological horror, and have seen a lot of creepy stuff- but this was so good. I’m shocked. Keep up the good work!
this is impressive! i am addicted to watching horror shorts on youtube and, to be honest, i mostly just watch videos or channels that have tons and tons of views/likes. not anymore! you just proved that even if a video doesn’t have a thousands of likes or a channel doesn’t have millions of subs, that doesn’t reflect that quality of the content in any way. i can definitely see your channel getting huge!
You're right. I'm always looking for good horror shorts as well and found not all have tons of views. I created a Horror Shorts playlist on my channel of all my favorites (ruclips.net/p/PLLCjuytMFIgbbVezWm6_WF5F__JEAJQRf) I would love to share some I made. I like how the Stairs and this film are connected. And the opening shot is great, with the slow push out, sound and voice over. You have a great eye for composition and atmosphere. Good job.
What a scary film , anything to do with stairs when you look through the gaps and see something horrible and then hear the most awful scary noise like that is enough to make you die of fright , I know I bloody would .😱😱😱😱
This is mind blowing! I can't describe how great it is. This is severly underrated. The Horror Factor went totally crazy, my heart is beating faster than ever😂😱
This is one of my fav short films 🥰 I love the concept behind it… I really enjoyed the description too, where you stated making it in a weekend to challenge yourself. Well done! 😉
Great job! I’ve been binge watching some horror and horror-adjacent short films recently and this really stands out despite being from a smaller channel. Please Keep this up! Awesome job on the emergency broadcast and keeping the suspense up throughout the film. ❤❤❤
Constructive criticism: The internet search scene at the start was merely repeating what we already knew, and so felt pointless and dragged on for too long, for such a short film. The staircase scene on the other hand was extremely good at ramping up the tension, keeping us waiting for *something* to happen for several seconds was a very good thing. The biggest issue though is that there was no real way to empathize with the main character who appeared to be either suicidal or a Darwin Award contestant (and ultimately winner). I guess you didn't manage to find any actually good reason to make him leave his apartment, but at the very least it would have been more plausible if he'd heard the voice of someone he knew and cared about... Also the final monster reveal may have dragged on for too long to produce that much fear (there's a reason why jumpscares work better than extended shots of monsters). As soon as the lamp started flickering the plot became predictable and the ending known, and so there wasn't any (or much) tension left. All in all it had a few flaws but it still packed a nice punch and the 'broadcast emergency' premise was a very, very good idea, so just keep improving :)
I can’t thank you enough for your feedback. Really helpful criticism and after some reflection, I would agree with a lot of your points. Especially making it someone the character knows, would have made it easier to empathize with him. The internet search scene is definitely unnecessary and if I could I would go back and cut it out to be honest. The film was made with no script in one weekend, kind of just out of nowhere for fun so I didn’t plan it out like I usually try to for my projects and there’s bound to be flaws but they are flaws nonetheless. Again, I really appreciate the feedback, very helpful.
@@dentonfilms9370 Glad my feedback was helpful to you. :) For something unscripted and done 'just for fun' in one weekend, this is definitely respectable.👍
This is absolutely outstanding, and if you keep releasing stuff like this, I have no doubt your channel will boom. I’ll be releasing a “reacting to horror shorts” video soon, and yours is the second one. Bravo!!
That was really cool, I hope you make more short fillms. Was the "creature" at the end stock footage from somewhere? It looked really good, and the gray color it has despite that warm light being pointed at it made me think stock footage.
Thank you! No, it wasn’t stock footage. We filmed the subject, back facing the camera and then colorized the skin grey in editing. For the eyes I just took a flashlight, pointed it at the camera, duplicated that shot and composited it over the creature.
Yo the end made me think that maybe it came in after he left, tried to take out the light, failed and got caught in it instead, it knew the light was gonna go out it just was a matter of time...
Yet another horror movie character who dies of, essentially, never having seen a horror movie before. lol Pretty good, especially for something you put together in a weekend. I would agree with another commenter who said the final shot goes on a bit too long - when I saw the mottled gray skin of the Thing, I was like, "oh, fuck!" and I think it would've been more effective to go from that to the light flickering and dying, and then that's the end. But a decent short nonetheless.
on the thumbnail it shows pyramid head it would be more creepier if you put pyramid head doing that sounds on those creepy long stairs down the building by drawing his sword
I have a currently published book, a collection of horror stories, available now. I think most of them could be adapted into effective short films. If you're interested, feel free to reply in the comments
I’m always interested to read some short horror stories! I’m not sure if I can adapt them, all depends on capabilities and idk what exactly that would entail, but color me intrigued. What’s the book and where may I find it?
I don't like that he opened the door. I would have preferred the horror of not knowing and him fighting the fear and interest at the same time. I mean, the state warned him in an official message. He shouldn't even let friends and family in, and he opens the door for a random stranger. Come on... But besides that it was well done.
Lead died because he is an idiot. That there is a monster inside when he goes back was obious, because you showed the door not closing. And the stair scene was predictable. It took too long.
Nicely done! Definitely getting some Purge vibes from that announcement at the beginning!

CONGRATS ON THE NEW ROOMMATE!!! I loved how you made the creature come to life, the flashlight eyes were a genius idea
Thanks!

HOW DO YOU ONLY HAVE 40 SUBS ONLY? That was amazing!
I would love to see this as a movie

I love this because there’s a monster and all you can do is stay still or run
Moral: Follow instructions, dipstick!
Well done short, kudos!
This was made perfect! We need more horror films.
genuinely terrifying,,, only thing is that the eyes at the end were a bit cheesy but other than that,, this was amazing
this storyline youve built is so good
this is really killer!! for a quick solo project this is really impressive
