Hey everyone! My name’s Nick, I’m the writer, director, and producer of In the Weeds! I really hope that you loved the movie as much as I did making it! It’s a bit new to be exposed to an audience as large as this, so I thought I would answer a few common questions I get about the movie in a pinned comment in case anyone’s curious. What happened to Grant at the end? The only hint I’ll give here, think about where we’ve seen that knife before… What’s in the box!!?!? Well, this one I’m going to leave as a mystery. I will say that there is a hint as to what I’m trying to say hidden somewhere in the movie. If you’re eager enough maybe you’ll find it! How did you come up with the story? Well, this one spring day I went for a walk down this really pretty winding path, and I remember feeling this strange mysterious new feeling. I would just look at the people walking by, people in their backyards relaxing. It was this strange feeling as though I could never truly know all of these people, and while everyone looked so nice on the surface, anybody could be a killer or monster behind closed doors. I suppose this movie marks my first moment becoming aware of the duality of man if that makes any sense. From there, I sort of developed the idea, and everything else blossomed on its own. What does the weed represent? Personally, I always saw it as the ugly parts of ourselves that we’re not proud of that keep peeking out. In that sense, I kind of try to explore the difference between embracing the weeds (like Grant) vs. trying to hide them (like Diana and Michelle), and how both of these philosophies ultimately fail. My personal perspective on the debate is that no matter how hard we try, we’re not perfect. We all have our own weeds, and we’ll never run short of them while we’re here. There are also going to be awful people who are going to do terrible things out there that we may never find out about. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try and be better. To be human is to understand your weeds, be truly honest and vulnerable, seek forgiveness, and strive to be better. How did you make this movie? Believe it or not, I made In The Weeds when I was in high school when I was 17 years old on a budget of no more than $2500 CAD. I really like the idea of using what you have right in front of you. Most of the locations were just places I knew around the neighbourhood, all of the actors/crew were just family and friends of mine from different walks of life, and I kind of ended up juggling all sorts of different positions to make the movie work. I suppose none of this is necessarily interesting and new for indie filmmaking lol. Do you have any other movies I can see? Yes! Alter linked my RUclips channel in the description, and I suppose you can just click on my channel icon. I would recommend "Those Who Run" as a next viewing, but there’s a lot of fun stuff on there. Some stuff from when I was a kid too :) Are you working on anything new that I can support you on? Oh boy, do I! This summer, I shot my very first feature-length movie. Making was the most difficult, but also the most beautiful thing I have ever done in my life. I’m currently starting post-production which is exciting. I’ve managed to make the whole movie off a budget of $15,000 CAD, which was all donations and my own savings. It’s crazy impossible that we were able to make it this far on that budget, but if you guys would like to support us through editing, it would mean the world to me. If you see any sort of value in my work, I made a GoFundMe fundraiser that’s still open linked in the description, and I would greatly appreciate any donations big or small. I promise you guys that this feature is going to be something very special. Imagine five “In The Weeds” in a row but with a way richer and more meaningful story, 10000000x higher production value, and more tear-jerking moments than you can count. And it's on the beach too. It is easily the best movie I have ever worked on, and I would love to have you all be a part of it. Please consider donating! That’s about everything that comes to mind, but if you have any other questions or comments, I’ll try my best to answer all of you!
If I had extra spending money, I would send it to u to make more movies!! Loved this and now having to watch it again regarding the box. Darn , was hoping Grant would make it out ok..... Thank you for this incredible short movie..... with great acting as well.....💚🤎💛🧡
Grant is the real hero of the story. Wasn't even his problem but dude broke in to the hags house no question. And was going to see it through till the end. Rip Grant!!!!
My observation: In the beginning Michelle's mom and the gardener were talking about some fertilizer's blended formula and when Grant went into her house he found the fertilizer with weird substance( human flesh?)in them, And the knife that Grant was using to open the box is now in the hands of the gardener (in the last) means she killed him made fertilizer outta him probably. She is always gardening
Michelle's weed is knowing that she had lead Grant to the same fate as she had inadvertently done to Sabrina, and now had to keep both dark secrets to preserve her own life. Very good acting. Good everything, really. Fantastic. 👏
Bcuz everyone think its talent to just put a bunch of ambiguous scenes together, most of the feature length movies on the site are mid bcuz they have to write themselves outta these corners, its not even entertaining atp....if they can't finish a story
ALTER, you keep picking gems!! Nick, this was too suspenseful to be one and done Horror short film! It's series worthy. CANADIAN TALENT has to represent! Loved this work of yours. Excellent cast. Of course the resident sleuth was my favorite from your awesome cast!
The gardener seems to be a witch or a person that reads the nature of people. Probably she put a spell on Michelle who killed the friend and then Grant. Michelle is a serial killer manipuleted by the gardener. The gardener recognized in Michelle a dark soul like herself . In the box there is Sabrina's soul and soon Grant's. Michelle kept in her box the leg of Sabrina's rabbit; serial killers take trophies. Grant felt she was evil. This is one of the theories I have to make sense of the video. I must say it is very intriguing and I would like to read others'interpretations. If the writer, director and producer will clarify fo us I would really appreciate! Nice work and thanl you for the short film.
Good interpretation , Well v can c that grant said to james garderner was losening or panting how can a soul in the box serve the purpose..? U r on point ofcourse michelle was hiding something but the threat of gardener to michelle was different... After which she thought to stop probing..
I love this interpretation. I didn't see the film this way at all, but as soon as I read your comment, it made total sense, and all the confusing pieces of the film fell into place for me.
ok im confused what all happened. ...so the girl is still alive?? why did she freak out and shut down in pursuing the gardern lady. also in the end the dudes are unalived. lol?! did they turn into weeds or something. does the creepy old lady have super natural witch craft powers?? the directors comment doesnt really answer much either. sigh. come on now!! 😟🤔
The woman is probably the one who took her sister's life. At the end of the movie she has the pocket knife that the boy had who was in her house trying to unlock the box. Which means she got him in the end too.
Serial killer gardener who is probably grinding the bodies and mixing with her soil/compost.... and because she looks so "normal and unthreatening" no one suspects her
I love that we never find out what's in the box. I think that makes it much more unsettling and creepy. Also that gardener lady is a fantastic actor. Perfect for this role.
It's amazing to see how a talented film maker, realize such a good thing with a few elements. You can feel the thrill! A very good job. My compliments😊 🎉
For those who don't know. The tune that is being whistled is a Japanese school bell tune. Its often twisted into a more sinister version like this one in Japanese horror. 💗
I literally had to stop the video and figure this out for myself as well - it definitely sounds like both school bells as well as the second half of the Westminster Quarters bell melody.
Do you by chance know the song title? My family had a grandfather clock when I was growing up that would play the same melody. I'd love to hear the whole thing! :)
The tune* is originally Westminster Quarters or Westminster Chimes, written in the late 1700s for a new bell tower going up in Cambridge (in England), then later the tune was used at Westminster Palace (for the famous Big Ben clocktower). All other uses have been borrowed from there. You hear it in many different nationalities due to the era of British colonialism. Mostly it's used for time-keeping -- church bells, clock chimes, school notices -- but sometimes other gentle alert purposes like doorbells. * When used for scary purposes, it's frequently transposed into a minor key with a slower tempo.
You want to have a "What's in the fucking box!" Brad Pitt moment? Go watch an anthology film called XXX and watch the segment "The Box" talk about a whack ass I need to know what was in that FUCKING box before I can do anything else feeling. They never tell you and it just begs to be known.
What did the line mean ,"Your mother never even knew I lived here" as stated by the gardening woman to Michelle. Michelle's mom sure acted like she knew the older woman. I thought they were neighbors. I am at a loss why Michelle didn't tell her friends what she said to her when they were having tea. Why was Michelle acting so odd after Grant told her about how the woman was acting in the bedroom? At a total loss what was in the box, although there was the rabbit's foot in a glass box on Michelle's desk. It looked exactly like the rabbit's foot in the tent. I am guessing Grant was killed. Need some help here! BTW, I really like the video. Great Job!
Was not the Newer house 🏡 next door it was a Cottage Out in the woods .( an old home ) tucked in the Woods. Think about a few things ( They followed The Gardner in her car 🚗,Grant was in the middle of the Woods walking down a Road. A few things I have questions about as well . Rewatching to see if I missed the Answers.....
She's just a gardener, probably long-term since they're on friendly term. Regardless, you usually don't need to know their living address, just business address. If she doesn't have an established business and just does it for cash and through referral, she probably doesn't even have a business address. Michelle was probably scared out of her mind. The woman probably threatened to off her, her friends, and her family if she doesn't behave. So she clamped up. The woman's box is a mystery that is purposely there to make you imagine the content. Whatever it is, it's incriminating enough for her to go after Grant when she realized that he took her keys. I suspect it's a piece of the victim(s), many serial killers like to keep trophies.
The woman lived close by or the kids couldn’t have reached the house by bicycle, but she was just the mother’s gardener. The daughter just showing up at the gardener’s house and using the excuse that her mother had sent her to pay the amount owed for the gardening fees was immediately detected by the woman because she couldn’t have sent her daughter there, they did not know where she lived. As far as the woman’s behavior, it was meant to be very ominous and not give a clear cut answer. The box was most likely trophies from her victims, as stated by a couple of other people here. I’m not sure about the rabbits foot. I’m going to have to rewatch 👍 It was definitely a good one!
Yeah, I'm having problems turning this into a coherent (or even semi-coherent) plot, too. I'm pretty quick at picking up on clues, hints, etc., but I can't find anything at all that clicks here.
The thing with these shorts is that many information we don't see happening, they just let us know the characters have them, exactly like a nightmare. Near the end, after coming out of her house, Grant talks to the other boy and says " we are so close to figuring this out" in a tune that tells us they were already after the old lady and the song even before the blond girl came to them. Also, the boy listens to her story and brings her to Grant and we have no explanation why he was someone they should ask for help, so another evidence that he was already into the story before we knew, the old lady had other victims other then the little sister and Grant probably knew them and was trying to find out what happened. So he already knew her house and texted them.
This was good but so many unanswered questions which in a way is good IF they make sense but the fact that both the old lady and Michelle were alive after their tense confrontation and how she abruptly ended Grant's help and was completely unresponsive to her boyfriend telling her he loved her, makes me think she was in on it and is maybe being haunted by it.
I think she’s got souvenirs from her kills. I’m sure Grant’s knife will find itself there soon. I agree something did happen that night Michelle was in the tent and she’s trying to forget it. I think whatever the women said scared her to stop their investigation into her.
I think he cheated on her with the girl throwing the party? or was leaving her for that girl? and that was what he was trying to tell her earlier when she didn't hear him over the creepy whistle, but told her again once at the party.
I think it's something to do with the whistling, like just evil. The way she acted orgasmic over it was disgusting and it seemed like she was having an experience by letting something out of the box. Maybe it's like in Dr sleep when the hat lady and her feeders open canisters and act similar to eating people's shine.
Wow. That was great. So suspenseful and makes your mind go so many different ways trying to figure out what’s really happening. The acting was phenomenal, I can’t believe you put this together on that budget, at 17! Great work!
All I can assume was the other part of the stuffed rabbit thats in the box, because in the beginning we see a dead rabbit, the sister had a stuffed rabbit, and then inside the box on Michelle's desk was just the leg of the rabbit
Good film. I was really hoping to find out what was inside that box. The excited feet part was so creepy. The mystery is intense, but I guess some things are better left to the imagination. Kenzie Spoltore is very beautiful, and I hope that she will appear in more films.
Maybe part of the stuffed toy from the first girl? She was holding a damaged stuffed rabbit when she was in the tent , and when she went out one of the.stuffed bunny feet fell off (which can later be seen in a clear box in Michelle's room when she is applying make up). Also immediately after the 8 year prologue the scene cuts to a dead rabbit that is lying in the grass (a very random thing to show) so it goes dead rabbit, 8 years later announcement and clear box with the stuffed bunny leg. Since by now it is obvious the gardener lady is a killer it would make sense she would keep an item from her victims (like she keeps the other guys knife)
@@LemonfluffI agree with your comment, I think the the rabbit doll was in the box. However, I believe it's a dead rat in the grass after the '8 years later' scene at 1:48 because of the feet and I think you can see the small ear too
Hello ! If someone has the answer : why does Michelle says to Sabrina that it's Sabrina's mum that must have made the noise while they're supposed to be camping in Michelle's garden ?
Good question! I was kind of going for the idea that Michelle doesn't really like Michelle and is annoyed by her. Kind of like that friend that your parents make you hang out with, but you secretly don't like. So her sending out Sabrina was kind of like a trick/joke to get rid of her, even if for a few moments. She just had no idea what would happen next lol.
Awesome,i have seen so many shorts in this channel but this is one of my favorits, the clean and deceitful aesthetics, the tension, the well writen and stablished characters in such short time, just❤
I really liked the feeling of this. That might not make much sense, but it had a feeling that stuck with me after it finished. A very talented writer/director/producer.
@TheProjector12 Well Done, you've told a mesmerizing tale and packaged it in a well made film. You got AMAZING results out of your amateur actors. You are a gifted film maker and I wish you a long wonderful life of making MANY more. I'm now off to your channel to view more of your work.
@@TheProjecter12 I've watched this several times now, and I have one question an one comment for you. Comment first, I think I found a hole in the plot. Grant goes to the gardener's house, but there's no way he could have known. Michelle shows up later but she followed the gardener there. The one thing that bothers me about this is, I've not seen a single person comment on this fact. Did I miss something? Now the question, I hope you will at least confirm or deny. Is the key chain fob the clue?
@@RPRosen-ki2fk Very good question. The answer's maybe a bit embarrassing, but I'm willing to give it. A lot of the cool stuff in the movie was planned, but there was a lot of other cool stuff that happened by complete accident. That said, there was also some stuff that I originally had that didn't work, so I had to kind of cut around it and improvise. One of those moments was Grant arriving at the house. Originally I had this whole bit where I showed Grant doing some research and tracking down her house with the help of the local paperboy (yes, I'm serious lol), but I found that the tone of that scene didn't really fit, so I opted instead to cut around it and try something new. I ended with the conclusion that they're all smart enough to track her down through their own means. Yellow pages, online, word of mouth, etc. That way, it's still a twist that Diana says Michelle's mother never knew she lived there, but without having that research scene slow things down. In the end, I kind of chose pace over plot to keep things moving, and I find that it sort of made things more mysterious that way. Also fun fact with that, that shot of Grant breaking through the window, that's not actually Grant! That's an insert shot I had to shoot with someone else months later when I can to this decision. Anyways, hope that clears things up. Maybe it demystifies things a bit, but maybe that makes it better. I don't know. But I will say that there is one clue I hid in the movie that nobody's found yet. It's in the first half...
@@TheProjecter12 Your pacing has a lot to do with why the film is riveting, so that totally makes sense. I think your instincts served you well. I appreciate you narrowing down where the clue is. I'm gonna sharpen my focus and watch again. Thanks for your reply Nick.
Ok this is an amazing one... especially the stuffs hidden and left for audience to grasp up At last grant was prolly killed by the garderner as we can c Grant's knife is seen at the end with the garderner while sipping tea The thing i aint able to figure is the box stuff , what's in the box? Was michele hiding smthng? At first v can c the rabbit leg at michele's makeup centre where sabrina's rabbit toy's remaining part (prolly leg of the rabbit) is seen in the box ... Is there some thing connected with it? I dont know its a mystery... Btw the film was worth it... ❤
Hey thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Good questions. I said in my pinned comment, There is a hint somewhere in the movie as to what I think is in the box. Good catch with the leg in the box, that's a clue. As to if Michelle is hiding something, maybe she was. I guess we never really know what went down after the whole bit with the shears. Who knows what she saw in there...
@@TheProjecter12 I think Michelle’s friends’ foot is in the box. I noticed a lot of scenes where feet are shown for a period of time. When the gardener opens the box her feet curl and she seems aroused by the foot in the box from Michelle’s friend or possibly another victim.
Excellent job! Riveting and compelling the viewer to stay focused and always interested! I was quite impressed. Turning Big Ben chimes into a mockingjay-like call (Hunger Games) was a nice touch. It appeared to hypnotize Michelle as did the steaming teakettle. Perhaps old woman was a witch or a druid from earlier times and used this to her advantage? I look forward to watching some more of your work. Best of luck to you!
That would be plausible, it would be mirroring Michelle's box with the bunny foot in it. Her's was see through, the old lady's was not, also an interesting thing..this movie gets me thinking too much x)
@@daniellenelson2433 LOL, I've been coming back over and over too. My favorite one so far was the key chain is a clue and that Sabrina's brain was in the box. I don't agree with that one, but it was original.
Michelle won't take the fortune cookie. She doesn't want to know when the truth might be uncomfortable. She doesn't hear what James says to her in the yard, partly because she is distracted by the whistling and partly maybe because she doesn't want to know what he is telling her? Was he professing his love for her?. She ignores him later when he says he lovers her. Yet, she hangs onto that memory of her friend in the glass box and that was a traumatic experience, yet she keeps the reminder in front of her face. Lying is a theme with her, and she is not very good at it.
I honestly kept on thinking the TTC was coming every time they whistled the tune lol. I didn't realize this was Canadian until I saw the money though! Great job!
Love that it's Canadian, but when Gabby calls, Michelle hangs up, her Phone says December 4th.... I'm Canadian, nobody is gardening December 4th in Canada lol, and the song thats playing is something about summer... I'm really searching for these clues😂!
@@trishess8152 Honestly, the best continuity error I've seen in general was a in a show called Tracker (alien show). There was a scene that was supposed to take place in Area 51. It proudly displayed a sign that announced it was the private property of the City of Oshawa.
Why not text/call Grant the gardener left, instead of racing after her on bike, giving a pump too...kids' aren't thinking things out, not good at snoopin', like most kids are at sneakin' around. Serial killers get their comeuppance, when they get too cocky. Tell the investigators everything you know, Michelle!
Perhaps Michelle was helping the gardener .. as if hypnotized by some spell. Just a theory. It explains the sudden changes of behavior throughout the film, though...
The main problem for me was that as a brazilian person, that creepy tune is also what used to be played by the trucked that drove around the city delivering cooking gas cylinders when I was a kid 😅
Wow, that's so interesting! Somone else in the comments said that it was their school bell in Japan. I find it really cool how many different places that melody ended up in.
This film was UNBELIEVABLE! Way to go, Nick! You killed this one! The suspense was gut wrenching! Absolute masterpiece...wish this was a full length movie! I need to know what is in that box...and i LOVE how at the end, he clicks his knife, then we see her with it....BRAVO
I loved this, and I'm going to check out your YT channel and watch the short you suggested. The only question I have for this short here, "In the Weeds", is why did the girl and her friend go to the other kid for his help? Was he supposed to be like some smart kid or something? I just couldn't understand that relationship and why they picked that kid, for you see towards the end he tells the boy, "she's just using you", so it makes me believe he didn't really know those 2 very well. Idk if it makes a whole lot of difference to know that, I just thought it was random to ask for help as they did, then when he wanted to continue, they just stopped. (then I read your Q&A type thing in your pinned comment, and I suppose you'd say it's cuz they wanted to "hide their weeds"....but they didn't do anything wrong though.......this is murdering their friend as a young child. ?? No matter what your answer, I absolutely loved it, and I loved the theme music that was whistled! :) May you have continued success!
anyone know the song played at 16:45? i have tried to shazam and find it through using lyrics and i didnt see it in the credits im just trying to find the nice vibe song.
To everybody wondering what's in the box: just a hunch, but i'd say it's the rabbit that the girl was holding at the beginning of the film. It's the very first thing shown in the very first shot, and there's emphasis put into the fact that it had a dangling leg before the girl went missing, and that the leg was left behind after she went missing. It almost seems like the killer literally threw the leg back in the tent after the fact or something. Regardless, the rabbit wasn't mentioned as something that was found so it's likely that that is the thing in the box. Would also at least somewhat explain the killer's comment of "oh lovely" at least to the most minor degree.
The gardener was the same woman that kidnapped and murdered Michelle's friend when they were out having a sleepover as little kids. An older Michelle sends her friend, Grant, to investigate, but the gardener soon kills him, too. The reason why the dogs couldn't locate Sabrina's body was because she was ground up and mixed with dirt.
This is the kind of horror that's absolutely amazing. I'd personally say that this is the best short horror film of the year. It keeps you guessing. What was in that box? What was being screamed over the tea whistling? The impending doom trumpets sounding lightly letting you know troubles on the way. Please more films like this
It's a good thing I was stoned while watching this one. 😊 Everything about it was fascinating and that incluses the music, the acting, cinematography. Just magnificent 👌 She's a young Maika Monroe.
Pandora's box movie poster is on Grant's wall and it reflects his curious personality. Does the locked box contain Diana's alternate psychotic personality or is it like a literal Pandora's box that unleashes evil spirits that possess Diana making her a monster? She explains "lovely" when she opens it. Is she seeing something beautiful such as her true self?
@empress1156 could it be the girls foot in the locked box she's smelling? One girl has a rabbits foot, gardener has the kids foot as souvenirs. Is the gardener wearing the girls sneakers when she folds up the knife? I think the girl and the gardener were both werewolves competing for feet/food?
Sooo many thoughts 💭 and questions.. i love it.. but im confused about the dead rat in the opening scene... 🤔 Is michelle "ratting" the gardner out.. ? Or ratting herself out w/o even realizing it...? In the beginning when Sabrina says she's scared and hears something, michelle doesnt even flinch instead says "its probably your mom, go check".. wouldnt a smaller kid be more freaked out..🤔 Is the gardener Sabrina's mom? Mb the gardener bribed the younger michelle to play a trick on Sabrina, bcuz why would a much younger friend be totally unbothered... UNTIL, she wakes up and sees Sabrina is for real gone. But i feel like theres a major clue here.. mini michelle did some wierd foot flex thing in her sleeping bag, right before realizing Sabrina is gone and someone's outside the tent... (Or IN the tent with her?!) I get the feeling michelle was molested by this lady, cuz we see the wierd foot thing when she peers into her box upstairs...and the gardener saying your mom doesn't know where i live.... ? Odd, since theyre both women, and shes older, and they live in the same neighborhood, almost like the old lady made a POINT to make sure michelles mom didnt know where she lived, bcuz shes a predator and has had access to michelle... So michelle has repressed memories and thats why shes flat, blanks out when her bf says he loves her, and why she has a trophy in her room, and why the gardener calls her a dirty little liar... Mb thats when she recalls what happened that nite, and drops the whole thing, kinda leaving Grant as the sacrificial lamb.. choosing to go to a party and turn up to forget everything again... If she uses a meat grinder in her basement to make killer soil just to have people rave about her hoe skills, than anything is possible, right? 😂 I love that it came from a 17yo mind and budget.. loved it enough to create an entire demented theory, however, while everyone wants to know whats in the box (trust me id love to know too but that's what makes it so good) Im more concerned About why there is a notably dead rat in the weeds. I feel like its a clue.. and i feel like i need to rewatch another 3 times. Love it and thank u for the content donation to my OCD. 👏🏼😅
Some Alter stuff I watch once. Some I watch twice. Very few I watch many times, because they are THAT GOOD (Terrible Things / Portrait of God). This is THAT GOOD
But what's actually inside the box, I watched it twice but still can't understand and the writer mentioned that there's some clue in the first half but i didn't find it.
I can tell you that nobody has quite figured it out yet (at least my interpretation), but the clue is in there somewhere. I also do like the fact that there isn't one right answer though, so I like inviting interpretation on this too, you know?
so the guy who wanted to disclose the mystery and the girl who went missing, she grinded them both as in the last scene woman had the knife of that guy and some mystery about the girl in that box :)
I love Movies with this kind of vibe, teenagers on the countryside, unsolved mysteries, them investigating on their own...Does alter have more movies with this kind of vibe?Or can someone recommend me some movies?:)
Fabulous little movie, dam good cast especially the young girl, she should get cast in plenty of movies, yes I know the competition is fierce but the vulnerable look is in at the moment. Direction is filled with a feeling g of dread which is what you wanted, music sets, editing excellent, thanks for posting.
Okay i can live with not knowing what was in the box(not really ) but what exactly did Michelle ? Diana called her a dirty little liar and she was not referring to grant upstairs or the tea thingy she was talking about something regarding Sabrina right ? Thats why Michelle left and called the whole thing off ? Somebody explain 😩😩😩
My understanding: The gardener uses people she k*lls as a compost. Michelle probably has a link to the gardener since she’s never got affected by it. Whereas both Sabrina and Grant d*e when they hear it themselves. So Michelle is definitely helping her k*ll people. Sabrina probably didn’t hear the whistle like Grant until Michelle herself told them the tune. Michelle also kept the rabbit feet with her. We can see it in the box in her room. I guess the gardener keeps the things from the people in the box she has k*lled too.
The only hint I’ll give here, think about where we’ve seen that knife before…
What’s in the box!!?!?
Some stuff from when I was a kid too :)
Are you working on anything new that I can support you on?
It's very good👍

Grant is the real hero of the story. Wasn't even his problem but dude broke in to the hags house no question. And was going to see it through till the end. Rip Grant!!!!
Okay the feet scene was terrifying. The whole thing was terrifying suspenseful and gripping. Loved it.
All old feet are terrifying🤮
It looked like she was touching herself
Yeah the nail scratching and her exclamations, so creepy!
It’s like she got excited by what was in that box.
My observation:
In the beginning Michelle's mom and the gardener were talking about some fertilizer's blended formula and when Grant went into her house he found the fertilizer with weird substance( human flesh?)in them,
And the knife that Grant was using to open the box is now in the hands of the gardener (in the last) means she killed him made fertilizer outta him probably.
She is always gardening
Michelle's weed is knowing that she had lead Grant to the same fate as she had inadvertently done to Sabrina, and now had to keep both dark secrets to preserve her own life.
Very good acting. Good everything, really. Fantastic. 👏
She could have just grabbed the hot teapot and introduced it to the lady’s face when she pulled the shears on her. But yeah.
Dead bodies of anything does not make good compost ffs . Ishhh

man this channel produces better movies than cinemas. Why is that? and I know these short clips take them a lot of time to make.
Because they have passion and not a profit margin on the brain.
Bcuz everyone think its talent to just put a bunch of ambiguous scenes together, most of the feature length movies on the site are mid bcuz they have to write themselves outta these corners, its not even entertaining atp....if they can't finish a story
Yeah it's great right? There not all made by this channel tho
This should be a full movie, it's so intriguing and diffrent. Really liked it.

Thank you, captain
Good interpretation ,
Well v can c that grant said to james garderner was losening or panting how can a soul in the box serve the purpose..?
U r on point ofcourse michelle was hiding something but the threat of gardener to michelle was different... After which she thought to stop probing..
Yeah! I agree with you... Michelle gets manipulated via that tune into killing! Grant even warns his friend that Michelle is using him😮
I love this interpretation. I didn't see the film this way at all, but as soon as I read your comment, it made total sense, and all the confusing pieces of the film fell into place for me.
Am I going nuts or do you hear 2 sets of breathing during the box scene? 11:51 Listen in headphones
ok im confused what all happened. ...so the girl is still alive?? why did she freak out and shut down in pursuing
the gardern lady. also in the end the dudes are unalived. lol?! did they turn into weeds or something. does the
creepy old lady have super natural witch craft powers??
the directors comment doesnt really answer much either. sigh. come on now!! 😟🤔
Kindly like this comment so i can come back and read more theories. I really want to know what the story is about
Your guess is as good as mine.
The woman is probably the one who took her sister's life. At the end of the movie she has the pocket knife that the boy had who was in her house trying to unlock the box. Which means she got him in the end too.
That’s a great observation!
@@Spoiled_horsegirl y
I grew up hearing it as a church bell in the US.
Hey that's really fascinating, I had no idea! I always just knew it as the big ben chimes, but that's cool that you made that connection!
I feel like Brad Pitt in SEVEN........WHAT'S IN THE BOXXXXX!!!!
Well at least in Seven, WE found out what was in the box. I'm also DYING to know what's in this one here.
You want to have a "What's in the fucking box!" Brad Pitt moment? Go watch an anthology film called XXX and watch the segment "The Box" talk about a whack ass I need to know what was in that FUCKING box before I can do anything else feeling. They never tell you and it just begs to be known.
The whistle was very nostalgic. Growing up we had a clock which made that tone every hour. After watching this, very spooky.
She knew her but not where she lived. She lived in the neighborhood but not a next door neighbor
To date, this is the best horror short I've seen.
How did grant know that lady's house, even Michelle followed her and got to know that lady's place but how did grant found out her house.
they texted him bro
And what's with the box??
@ThePaganSun I agree. It would 've been a better film if there weren't soo
Many unanswered questions.
Am I the only one that thinks the rest of the girl’s stuffed animal is in the box?
@user-LikesCandles No I thought so too. That said this was still a really damn confusing movie
However, I believe it's a dead rat in the grass after the '8 years later' scene at 1:48 because of the feet and I think you can see the small ear too
On the surface this kinda made me think of Brick (2005). It has a similar low-budget 2000's highschool murder mystery vibe.
Finally some deserved recognition, good shit Nick.
We love the attention to detail and building of suspense in this film. Nick really killed it! Thanks for watching.
Sabrina seemed older, she could've been just a relative or she was babysitting.
Thoroughly creepy, especially the feet scene

Thank you so much, that means so much! I'm so happy that you liked it!
Ok this is an amazing one... especially the stuffs hidden and left for audience to grasp up
At last grant was prolly killed by the garderner as we can c Grant's knife is seen at the end with the garderner while sipping tea

@@TheProjecter12 You're playing the Riddler very well 😄 Love it
@@TheProjecter12 I think Michelle’s friends’ foot is in the box.

Marvellous short film 🌱

The gardener was the same woman that kidnapped and murdered Michelle's friend when they were out having a sleepover as little kids. An older Michelle sends her friend, Grant, to investigate, but the gardener soon kills him, too. The reason why the dogs couldn't locate Sabrina's body was because she was ground up and mixed with dirt.
This is the kind of horror that's absolutely amazing. I'd personally say that this is the best short horror film of the year. It keeps you guessing. What was in that box? Pandora's box movie poster is on Grant's wall and it reflects his curious personality. Does the locked box contain Diana's alternate psychotic personality or is it like a literal Pandora's box that unleashes evil spirits that possess Diana making her a monster? She explains "lovely" when she opens it. Is she seeing something beautiful such as her true self?
😉
she is smelling something. I would guess it is something that belonged to the girl who disappeared
@@HorrorHermitofHellOH that's good. I like that idea. Makes sense.
The poster is a great catch!
Btw…the director of this Movie (TheProjector12) gave you a blink, so we can assume that you are spot on.
Sooo many thoughts 💭 and questions.. i love it.. but im confused about the dead rat in the opening scene... 🤔 Is michelle "ratting" the gardner out.. ? Or ratting herself out w/o even realizing it...?
In the beginning when Sabrina says she's scared and hears something, michelle doesnt even flinch instead says "its probably your mom, go check".. wouldnt a smaller kid be more freaked out..🤔
Is the gardener Sabrina's mom?
I love that it came from a 17yo mind and budget.. loved it enough to create an entire demented theory, however, while everyone wants to know whats in the box (trust me id love to know too but that's what makes it so good)
Im more concerned About why there is a notably dead rat in the weeds.
This is THAT GOOD
Ok but what's in the f****** box?!??!
That's so sweet of you, thank you so much! I don't even know what to say. It's really an honour that the film has affected you on such a level!

Happy Halloween BABES
No the fact that when the whistling started that that's the same sound the church bell does 😭💀✋
Suspenseful, but mostly just weird.
i wrote the song at the end
Stunning film!
Nice story😊😊😊. Love from India❤❤❤
Brilliant work by all those involved.
Thank you so much!
Michelle is the worst kind of example of letting undealt trauma ruin the lives of not just yourself but the people around you.
I love watching short horror movie which makes me thinking
But what's actually inside the box, I watched it twice but still can't understand and the writer mentioned that there's some clue in the first half but i didn't find it.
I can tell you that nobody has quite figured it out yet (at least my interpretation), but the clue is in there somewhere. I also do like the fact that there isn't one right answer though, so I like inviting interpretation on this too, you know?
Sabrina brain' the Keychain had brain 🧠 shape figure.
Can someone please tell me the name of the song that starts around 15:55 please!
Song is "My Third Eye" by James Forest
This was so good! Reminded me of a infamous whistle story from a scary Reddit post years back.
Could youtell please?
Wow! The neighborhood witch! Fantastic story well woven. What was in the box?
The answer is hidden there somewhere...
so the guy who wanted to disclose the mystery and the girl who went missing, she grinded them both as in the last scene woman had the knife of that guy and some mystery about the girl in that box :)
Unfortunately, yeah. I think that might be the case :(
Yes!
I love Movies with this kind of vibe, teenagers on the countryside, unsolved mysteries, them investigating on their own...Does alter have more movies with this kind of vibe?Or can someone recommend me some movies?:)
the director will be releasing a feature at the end of the summer with a similar vibe!
Very tense film, I enjoyed it...but isn't what I'm looking for, anyways, good work!
The girl in the tent was never found.... But she would be in the focus of the police for killing this boy in the woods?!
Old Grandfather Clock, Westminster Chimes. Loved it.
Where did they film this ?
Waterloo, Ontario (Canada)
My understanding:
The gardener uses people she k*lls as a compost.
