    Thank you for showing the actual conditions and not some dramatic BS. That was very cool how you showed the Eye of Elsa and were able to stare straight into it. So many people over hype these storms and cause undo fear to those considering the sailing lifestyle. It was very refreshing to watch actual footage without all the hype. As you said your being in a safe place to weather the storm had nothing to do with luck and everything to do with your decisions. Well done and thank you for the video...

      Thank you for watching and your kind words 🙏🏻 It’s a narrow line between showing respect for the weather but also explain the difference between a category 1 and stronger, not to forget where you place yourself. I know I could use this episode to hype up things and boost my channel with click baiting. But don’t like it and prefer to just say things how it is. On the other side experience like this can be seen very different. And remember 99% of sailing channels have extremely limited experience and even though sharing advice and how to etc. Still only sailing their first boat and things will be more dramatic from their eyes. I’m not a RUclips sailor. I’m just a sailor with a RUclips, but have decades of experience and can’t even remember how many boats I had. Guess it’s never gonna make my channel big but happy to stand out from the masses. All the best and cheers from BE FREE 🍻

    I adrime your calm and positive attitude when shit happens.
    Also that you skip the dramaqueen part that many You tubers use to raise viewings.
    The fact that you talking about winds of 30-40 as" not too bad" and "pretty awesome sailing" tells me you are familiar with roughweather. (probably by sailing in Norway)
    Cheers!

    • @SailingwithThomas
      @SailingwithThomas  3 года назад +6

      It was not much to make a fuss about. 40 knots is a normal summer breeze in Norway 🤣 In fact risk of shitt weather is higher in a normal summer holiday back home than entire circumnavigation if you follow the trades .Cheers from BE FEE 🍻 And thank you for watching 🙏🏻

    You’re such a smart and brave salty dog! So glad to see all is well! I was wondering! I tracked it closely as my second home is in the Caribbean but was just concerned about my friends/locals and kept them updated. My condolences to those who were affected by the wind and rain (floods and landslides)
    Since Be Free is ok, maybe we will see your spectacular light display next time!
    That low shot of you in your kitchen made it look like a gourmet house kitchen! You’re boat is so beautiful.
    Now you can Sail on and Be Free again! Enjoy and cheers! 🥂😎

    Thank you for the video Thomas,very glad your strategy worked out.It interesting that with two rudders there is no redundancy,however liked how you work around solution.Look forward to seeing where you head to next

    • @SailingwithThomas
      @SailingwithThomas  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for watching and your comment 🙏🏻 There is a sort of redundancy as I could fix one rudder and steer with the other. However it’s only one beam that syncs the two quadrants similar to some catamarans. Some even only have wires between. This solution is actually pretty strong and good. Funny part just some weeks ago I looked at the very same problem /situation experienced on an Imocca 60. Cheers 🍻

Skål fra BE FREE 🍻

    Good call on the heavy weather. Now in Florida we have to put up with Elsa and all the media hype. But with land lubbers, it's a zero happening. As a Florida native, I've seen them all. It could been much more wind so just to make it through without any worries this was a super comfortable and easy way out.
