    Great honest video. A Page local here, I’m sure many of us know that the customer service can be way better.
    Many Navajo people from the reservation travel into work. With the Navajo nation struggling with poverty, it’s difficult for many workers. Not many jobs on the reservation, they come into Page. There are flea markets where you can get food directly from Navajo Families.
    Would love to you see again!

      Thank you very much! I will be back, I love Page and I didn't mean to put the town down or its people in any way.
      Its more and more interesting every time I visit, the only thing is as I mentioned in the video, there's a few things that would take it to the next lever and hopefully be profitable for everyone!
      I take take you're points into account next time and visit the flea markets!

    Love Page...Pulled up to Antelope canyon with the family and was stunned by the tour cost. I could not afford it. I noticed on the way into town that the highway crossed a slot canyon about 8 miles out of town. I asked the attendant about it and she said an all day parking pass there was $8.00 and she told me to watch the weather very carefully. We had the canyon to ourselves.

    This was great!! Well done. Fun, informative and funny. $60 extra for a tripod!! Definitely sounds like taking advantage. $6 for Bambi! They should be paying you that she's there. Awesome tour of the place your in. That canyon Is stunning. Can't wait to see you pointing at more landscapes 🤣

    • @wollertz
      @wollertz  2 года назад +1

      🤣 I wish Bambi got paid just to be there 😂, $60 is actually cheap for a photo tour, ($180 total) when Upper Antelope canyon was doing photo tours it was $250 a person, and this was 2011/2014, the problem is the communication, and how these new business owners just make stuff up on the fly, it wasn't even a private tour 🤣 there was another random person the same day. its a great place to visit, but they are still figuring out stuff!

    Great video! We went to Page a few years ago, and we were shocked at the prices to do a tour, and then it’s even more when you realize you have to tip your guide another $25 a person. So definitely know that it’s a place that will cost you more than you think, to visit.
    I have the same thoughts about the food. I really love finding amazing restaurants that I want to go back too. Some wonderful, creative chef, needs to consider Page as a place to open a restaurant.

Thanks for making this video. Now i can see it's not my research that's lacking. Hopefully someone opens up a good restaurant with gluten free options. Until then I will pack some food.

    Love the honesty and I agree with everything you said! I live here currently and know about the crappy customer service for some locations. One comment was right, affordable housing is rare and the realtors around here believe a shitty double wide trailer is worth $300,000 and needs updated after purchase. It’s hard to keep people around here with all the turnover of employees. Page just needs better housing solutions. Also, the town needs updated or build near marble canyon some attractive restaurants. So much potential but no action at making it charming. At least we have Birdhouse Chicken! 😂

    As the Executive Director for the Page-Lake Powell Visitors Center here your comments on the customer service were not well received. We have struggled here with too many checks being given out and people not wanting to return to the workforce! This has made our workforce so lean and very frustrating to the owners. Our restaurants are growing and there are some great venues for food and continuing with our newest the Grand Grandon Brewery. Every town has there ups and down and ours was hit so much harder than others with the Navajo Nation shutdowns till last July 2021. Be patient and appreciate all that Page has to offer. Page America as we call it! Judy Franz - Page-Lake Powell HUB check us out when you are in town for all the dining options and we even have most menus here. Also all the tours available while you are here or just info on things to do on your own.

      I understand your position and the position of the city, I did visit the Hub, I got lots of great advice from the person working the front desk, he was the one that charged me $6 (child fee) to bring the dog to Buckskin Gulch, he has some great recommendations as well.
      I did eat at the Grand Canyon Brewery, and I thought it was just ok.
      I know food is difficult and restaurants have had a difficult time, but there are also other restaurants around the country that have taken this time to get better.
      I apologize if my honest review bothers you, but it is my experience and nothing more, Page has some catching up to do, and that is perfectly OK. And based on comments and conversations I have had I am not alone in feeling this way.
      I will be back, I will do more tours, I have a long list of things I want to do. I also have about 6 more videos coming out from the Page Area.

      "Too many checks given out and people not wanting to return to the workforce!" I really detest the people are lazy and don't want to work narrative, which is what you're peddling. What you want is a big supply of cheap labor, even if it's an area with very limited or no affordable housing. I'm guessing if you do something about housing and other necessities and your businesses pay people a living wage, you'll have a bigger supply of workers. If your business can't be profitable while paying employees a living wage, you don't have a viable business model. Edit to add - does your "too many checks given out" comment apply to PPP loans (which turned out to be grants, as they don't have to be repaid) to local businesses?

    I still don’t understand why people pay for tours, unless you didn’t grow up here, but locals better not be paying for tours, use a map/GPS, have a compass, and go out on an adventure like we did as kids, at least I did Lmao…imagine paying for a tour in the state you live in?

    • @wollertz
      @wollertz  Год назад

      As someone from another country you don't just go exploring on someone else's land if you want to come home for dinner 😅
      you pay for someone to figure out where to go and the "best" things to see, apparently page has changed a lot over the last 20 years, some people that grew up there say they don't even recognize it anymore, even paid parking for Horse Shoe Bend, I remember when you just walked over the rocks and sand and there it was 🤷‍♂

    • @wollertz

      certain tours have a set pace, a photography tour slows down a lot, and guides move other people out of the way so get a chance of a clear photo, thats where the extra $$$ comes in to play
