Great to see you back. I just want to tell you I built a 365 Special following your instructions. I ported a 372 big bore cylinder. Filled in the case with JB-Weld. Lightened the piston. Worked the ports as you showed. I'm too old to cut wood but I love working on saws. I'm the mechanic on a Disaster Relief chainsaw team. I took my saw with me to S.C. last week to help with the clean up. I needed them to run my saw to break it in so I could adjust the carb properly. We had a new saw on the trailer. A Stihl 500I. After one of the guys ran it the team leader ask him how it ran. He told him it ran all most as good as my hot rod saw. LOL! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@@theironhorse6600 My first saw to port was inspired by "Buckin". He was competing at a saw fest or a cookie cuttin contest or a buckin off or something like that. He said his saw was built by Iron Horse. I didn't know you could hotrod chain saws. I found your channel and found video of you building Buckin's I think 922or4or5 or something Homelite. I watched you tear it down and build it. I was blown away. You see I'm an old gear head from the 60's, 70's. Something kept tugging at me. I pulled an old "63 C51 homelite off the shelf that had been there so long I couldn't remember who gave it to me. It looked similar to Buckin's saw. His was red, mine was blue and had a manual oiler but the internals were almost identical. I took it apart cleaned it up deleted the head gaskit, opened and polished the exhaust port, took the baffle out. It cuts as good as a new Stilh 500I also. I'm glad to see you back. I've been watching MarketPlace for a lathe and a 365-72 carcus to build. Thanks!
Wonderful to see you back in the shop again! I'm anxious to see this saw in the wood. Blessings to you and your wife will keep you both in our prayers.
Been under the hood of the 86 K30 for the last week. Got towed home last week. No power to the fues block. My day changed when I came in next to the wood stove and got to hear you tell us how the cow ate the cabbage. When you did the vaccum test It was like the song from quick silver, have an other hit a sweet hit.
Great build for Buckin. Just ported my first saw, 036 Pro. Learned you can take off too much material fast. 2nd attempt it works great. Still breaking it in but its a fun saw. Can't wait to build another one.
Good day. Harvey nice to see you. Been messing around with a 61 with a 272 meteor top end on it. Thank you for mentioning hay chaff and sawdusts channel. He is good fun to watch and finds some cool info with his dyno.
Looks like it will be another beauty Those 86ers are flipping amazing I can only hope to get one built some day pure beauty Thank you for all your tips you are a gift iron horse
Great job, I know Buckin gonna be proud to run it. I agree with you on the bearings, I am doing the same thing to a Stihl 041 farm boss at the moment and it also has original bearings and shaft seals from the early 1970's and it still runs. It sure is a good feeling when those things fire for the first time after major work. Keep after it my man, we love the content.
Gr8 to see u back Harv! Love your work! U r an amazing saw builder. I have the up most Respect for you and what you do! I enjoy every about chainsaws from runnin' em to working on em'
Great to see you and thanks for sharing the hurdles along the way, personally and saw related. Things get messy, we are all human, glad to see you’re doing well.
Hi buddy..I like that build for buckin..that would be a great work saw..I hurt my ribs last Fri..think ones broke..slipped while cutting on a steep bank fell on saw handlebar..I couch surfing but going back to work next Mon hell or high water👍👍💪💪
Might as well split the cases and get her in shape so you can complete the build when your parts come. I have faith in you that it will run just fine! You look happy to be back building saws again!
IRONHORSE, we all love you, God Bless you for always sharing your life and heartfelt words of wisdom with all of us:) IRONHOURSE, you make the world a better place to live in:)
This is the perfect video Harvey! I am struggling with the exact same issue on a 372 modded 365! My lines look good as well, but I'll replace the fuel lines while I'm at it. Please keep posting vids of this saw!
Hope the AF goes well I know how it feels AF & flutter!! had my second ablation including flutter but still having a few attacks!! just what you need! keep smiling both my thoughts are with you❤
I noticed you using a cap to pour a little mix in the carb. Look up zoom spout oilers. Excellent oil and when you're done with the bottle, it works a charm, to put some premix in to prime these things.
On this thing of saw legacy, from the western European perspective (Ironhorse channel episode about 394 and 395 from February 2022). In 2024, my Husqvarna literature showed up in my post box letting me know the first Husqvarna saw sold in Ireland was purchased a stone's throw away, not a forested area but normal pastoral farmland, kind of akin to 'Ol Skool Logging Pennsylvania, a stone's throw from where I gre up. The saw purchased '50 years' prior to 2024. Funny. My grandfather's Stihl '53 is in my shed, which he bought a bit earlier, and it was 'second hand' then even. My Dad ran it with the .404 chain, until he switched later to Husqvarna in 80's decade. His last saw his 2014 Husky 365 I still fire up occassionally. My point is though, there may not have been a lot of power saws in many European countries in the hands of farming people. The Stihl 1950's tools were sort of NATO peace time semi- military pieces of hardware (a bit like U.S. fire departments all carry and train to use Stihl or Husky construction or demolition saws nowadays, to gain entry to burning properties from the roof down, using a construction saw fire fighters can go through concrete slabs to save lives). A big improvement for fire fighters is the cutting discs available now, to remove steel bars, concrete, whatever. In the old Stihl 1950's tools, they were made for the Swiss army to do roads clearances, part of the first responder type of tool kit, you can see the Stihl 53 or 57 is a lot like a construction saws nowadays. Less like a modern chain saw for lumber. My point is, not all chainsaw history even in European countries starts around 1974. But for certain, Husky 'took off' is my guess in the seventies and eighties decades. Like vinyl records and disco music, and some other stuff. The earlier Stihl saws though had 'zero' ABBA style about them. The were as deadly serious and business like as nuclear power, and the Cold War. My Stihl 53 was painted red, but their true color was ready that dark green 'East Germany' drab, military color style. Polished black leather boots and tight hair cuts. Later on the rock-n-roller kids got their mittens on these tools, and the saw game then got more ABBA.
My wife finds those lost screws and and fuel caps and such in the dryer when she’s doin laundry. They’re usually hiding in the pocket of the pants I was wear’n a couple days ago!
Change the female quick connection on the hose and the male connection on your blow gun. Just make sure they're compatible. That should fix the leaky air hose.

@tomintexas817 dude 100% agree! All I watch is BBR, Tinman and Ironhorse! I've rebuilt quite a few saws now and ported a couple all because those 3 Solid men! I've got a ms201tc on my bench as we speak and have been trying to find some good baseline numbers to start with. No luck yet though :(
Hello Harvey long time viewer. I don't want to take any thing away for bucking Billy's 371 build . I would like your opinion on fly wheel advance on a 372 BB that is ported pulling a 32" bar using your numbers. thanks for your time and knowledge. Be safe
I have a 286 husky has fire through the plug wire you hook a plug up to it and it will not fire all kinds of new ones in it when you hook it to the to the barrel and pull the cord on it it will not fire
Hey Ironhorse, I have an old MS 391 that needs a lot of attention. It fell out of a tree and busted up the handle, but I was thinking I would really like to have a saw Rebuilt from you, I would like to have it ported and that muffler mod you put on there. I’d go as far as to say any recommendations that you have if you decide to take the saw Now I could take this to anyone of my local shops, but I specifically want you to build it
😊😊 HI IRONHORSE IVE seen that be 4 a pin hole in the gas line is bad U always put a longer gas line on when U replace the line and U leave extra line 2 make sure U have enough 😊😊 and check and clean the sparkplug fuel filter and the carb takes the low and high screws out and clean out and the screen in the carb also another place where dirt grit or trash 🗑 😮 is and wash the fuel tank until it's clean W no trash and strain the fuel all of the time W a shop rag or a old shirt this will catch the trash and water 😊😊 water is brown in gas it looks like mud 😮😮 and some times U have 2 clean the coil W a wire brush / iron horse that cylinder is egg 🥚 😮 shape it's not true and out of round it's not worth fooling W replace it it will lock the saw up IVE heard of the be 4 also pins won't hold liner in that's no good either 😮😮 OMG 1O 29 2O24
I have a question,I’m just kinda thinking about getting into porting, I’ve been thinking about saws, if I were to raise a 372 exhaust say to 98 and lower the exhaust to say 150 ish what would you recommend for a carb
98 to 100ex gives you lots of torque in the cut dogged in and likes 154/155 intake! Oem carb is well suited to this build! If your carb has limiting screws remove the locks!

Great stuff, Harvey. You remind me of a guy I used to work with in fire protection, he could fix the unfixable. I'm sure this will be a nice build.
