I seen many tutorials for Gimp and al I have to say is that you my friend, Make the best of them all. So easy to follow and do not deviate from the very basic. thanks so much for your videos.
Just wanted to thank you, After watching videos from you over a period of time, i got the the idea and confidence to make a logo my myself from scratch, and i did it for y school and friends and recieved good feedback. All thanks to You.
and learned another great thing using gimp! thnx a lot! just one thing: the redish paper would be the paper under the blueish paper (correct me, when I get it wrong) ... how could there be a shadow on the blueish paper (what you did at the last step)?
Thanks Nick, love the tutorials. An idea for tutorial that I think many people could benefit from is how best to setup bleeds in Gimp and Inkscape. This is something I came across as an issue compared to things like Indesign and Illustrator.
Anybody else having issues with the gradient overlay on the letters interfering with the gradient overlay on the background blue? It's like I can only do one gradient overaly and even though I create a new layer it messes with the one from before.
you are the 6th teacher for Gimp that I followed and they are all very clear, yet, when I try the many steps, too many times the same effect that you do doesn't happen, either a box that you use never shows up or I have to hunt and peck to find another way to get that box. so frustrating
I need a shadow on the inside, total circumference of my image, like a simple circle image but the shadow on the inside.. its a subtle shadow. I use to know how to do it about 15 years ago, but I forgot.. can you direct me? It was a very simple process!
Hi! This is an amazing channel with lots of usefull and cool tutorials as that one :D Nick is a real GENIUS, but there's a GIMP plugin for made that kind of effects automatically: it is called CG Shadow. Greetings from ITA
This is the one i was struggling with. Thank you very much. I tend to mess up steps in wrong order, haha. By the way, is there a way to delete useless fonts from gimp?
you're so underrated you've got skills and knowledge but only a 100k subs and those "youtubers" get millions of subs cuz they gonna be in a boxing match ?!
Hello Nick; recently I have tried two free design programs and I have to say they are so good not as good as Adobe products of course but definitely it can compete with Gimp and Inkscape and I found them more customized with a clean interface and easy to use. Gravit Designer and Krita, I hope you could take a look at them and give us your thoughts may be video comparison or tutorials for using them with your amazing designs.
im sure he has used krita before, it and gimp are like buddies krita for painting and drawing, gimp for image manipulation gimp 2.10 even has krita brushes built in
this looks like a very complicated way. Isn't it easier to just make two layers, cut the form out of the top layer and add a drop-shadow-filter to the top-layer?
In what way do you mean? There are thumbnails for all sorts of things, which type of thimbnail. You can take what he just did then resize it to the way you want. Either bigger or smaller.
I don't quite understand. You spend most of the video creating a nice cutout effect showing another paper layer below. Then you add a drop shadow -- to the top layer? What is supposed to be casting that shadow? Or is this just some artistic 'visual interest' thing?
I loved this so much I made it and now it’s my icon. Thank you Nick
Thank you Nick, for sharing your knowledge with us, greetings from México.
Thanks again Nick, very useful tutorial.

you could easily save time from 4:34 to 5:15 by merging the layers BEFORE clipping. Thanks, Nick for your great tutorials.

That's exactly what i was looking for. Thank you very much!
Nice !! Thanks for uploading tutorials of GIMP
Tan increíble como siempre. Saludos desde Lanzarote. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
so many layers. got confused, but worked well! thanks-!!
Thanks Nick, another question- can you tell me or show me how you get your dialog headings to be orange? I want to do that.
Thanks Nick. I'm so inspired. Please i'm a beginner in graphics design. How can i do more than just a letter in a paper cutout?
Thank you so much dear nick. It's so funny!
Great work. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

That's a good idea. I may do something like that shortly.
😊very informative video

Great as usual Nick....

I agree.
Nice job, you made me do it!

Could probably do an effective version of this in Inkscape as well. I know it's not the best for raster stuff but yeah.
hHi Nick. Can you show us how to design a logo using this effect
Thanks Nick
great video! thanks!
Awesome guy 👍: Newton too would be wondering on the amt of layer's one has to remember
Fascinating, thank you!
Nick, how did you do to make your GIMP bigger on the screen ??
Nice tutorial, thank you. I was wondering if you could maybe do a video on creating a psychedelic tie dye effect, not necessarily rainbow colored.
Bump. Seconded. Or whatever the 'I agree' catchword is.
That's a good idea. I'll look into it.
Thank you... Great job
I subscribe..
Thank you, it was a helpful tutorial
I believe the shadow on the left is in the wrong place.
Amazing!!!
2:12 bro i can't find the blen tool . my gimp is 2.10.34

Interesting, I did not know that. I'll have to check it out.
Logos By Nick i worked with it a pair of years ago!
How do use this for the inner shadow? I just downloaded it?
How can we replace Grain Merge in Photoshop? Which mode suits it?
Nice
The second shadow makes no sences according to the artificial lightingcondition, but it looks cool!
This is the one i was struggling with. Thank you very much. I tend to mess up steps in wrong order, haha. By the way, is there a way to delete useless fonts from gimp?
Not that I know of. Like Thomas said, you'd have to uninstall them from your OS altogether
Alright!
in GIMP 2.10, gaussian blur works strangely
you're so underrated you've got skills and knowledge but only a 100k subs and those "youtubers" get millions of subs cuz they gonna be in a boxing match ?!
Thank you....
Thank you so much for the inspiration! I tryed the same design on a Thumbnail on my channel! =)
thanky man
Great video. Its funny, just the other day I spent about an hour doing this (found a different method.) Good timing I guess
can u share the method??
damn, you're good!
Great!!!
How do you get the letter to be slanted like it is in the example image?
Rotate it using the Rotate Tool (shift + r)

Notification squad!
i could only get a dark red not a gradient on the g????
bro can i try this ton photoshop also
hey i want it landscape.please
this looks like a very complicated way. Isn't it easier to just make two layers, cut the form out of the top layer and add a drop-shadow-filter to the top-layer?
Would you do us a video for that ;)
Very cool tutorial, just one thing - at some point you mic sounds kind of "buzzy" i guess, nothing too major just a thing i noticed :)
5:10 it looks like letter G has drawn on a paper
Can you please do more Videos how to Do a thumbnail with Gimp?
In what way do you mean? There are thumbnails for all sorts of things, which type of thimbnail. You can take what he just did then resize it to the way you want. Either bigger or smaller.
Check his older videos.
please update your videos why gimp 2 have a new update and now this tutorial is not work
Nick please how do I make my icons like yours. The way it's arranged. Please I need your response ASAP
Why the shadow outside the g tho?
Does anybody know ho he got the column on the left, with the layers, and all that? All I have is a toolbox.
What do you mean?
Is there any way I can buy GIMP it won’t download on my Mac
Thomas Jensen do you have a link?
Go to: www.gimp.org
Download it from the original website gimp org/downloads then it should work
Yeah I don't think there's a way to buy GIMP. It's completely open source.
I don't quite understand. You spend most of the video creating a nice cutout effect showing another paper layer below. Then you add a drop shadow -- to the top layer? What is supposed to be casting that shadow?
Or is this just some artistic 'visual interest' thing?
I was confused by this also! What is that shadow cast by?
The idea was to have the left side of the G lifting out from above the blue paper. The effect didn't quite pan out though I suppose.
@@LogosByNick ohhhhhh thats really cool
cual font nombre ??
The inside shadow and outside shadow confuses my brain.
my laptop struggles with gimp
There will be no outer shadow in real life.
yeah, i tought the same
think again dude
just joking... it looks cool that way
Not if you imagine that the edge is a bit lifted by the cut, which is the intention of the designer in the first place.
Something Like prntscr.com/k6mwzw
Fvck i failed so many times cuz too much layer 😥
wasted 2 hours for nothin dangit
this is an over complected way of doing something that should take 30 seconds to do
You have a method that takes 30 seconds?
i dislike because i don't understand your verision of Photoshop
Probably because it's GIMP; not Photoshop.
Thanks Nick
