Two different 22lr pistols, with different barrel lengths. Not the best side by side comparison. Results likely to be similar as depicted either way, but not reliable as shown due to the differing handguns used.

It's not really a head to head of these two as most people will never own a Maxim silencer anyways . Just kind of showing how much silencers have changed over the years, such as reduction of noise and baffles. The Maxim silencer is still a very effective design, and was really cutting edge at the time. I feel that if the nfa was repealed, or at least had "gun mufflers" take off of it, you'd see a bunch of silencers hitting the market similar to the Maxim as they'd be inexpensive for the masses while still gaining some suppression benefit. It's just ridiculous that they don't care about our hearing. Reducing the report doesn't make it anymore deadly, but the suits in the 1930s figured "they MIGHT commit crimes with these, so let's regulate and tax the fuck out of them so the bad guys can't get them"... Not realizing bad guys don't give a fuck and can build one very easily, yet to this day, a homemade silencer, or even a manufactured one is rarely used in a crime.

Maxim rules. Lets put your can against one 100 years from now and see how they compare.

It's still a valid comparison- the Maxim is longer, length suppresses better than diameter. 22 baffles to 5? That means our one baffle is outperforming more than 4 maxim baffles because our can is producing 10 times less sound at 10DB more quiet. The Maxim can is a great can for the time, but it doesn't make sense to bring heavy bias into a comparison that overlooks things like more than 4 times the baffle count or significantly longer length. The maxim is easily an inch longer. It's not a hatchet job on Maxim. This isn't a terribly unfair test. Another way to look at it is this is a Maxim 1920 suppressor- he had 11 years to develop it after the 1909 model. We had 12 years to develop the micro. It's a similar amount of development time. This was an entertainment video anyway. If we wanted to do a hatchet job, we could shoot the maxim one time on an Ar-15, and destroy it, doing something the micro can do all day long. Obviously not the point. The point is show people how a Maxim can compares to current market leading technology.

It looks like the maxim can has a bore alignment issue. Is this just a camera trick or my eyes?

I guess its can optical illusion because an alignment issue would of definitely been noticed and mentioned by these guys.

its that way to divert gasses all directions and the bullet flies through the tip of the slit on each...

@@Shadow0fd3ath24 The can has no strikes. It is perfectly aligned.

Griffin Armament people have no shame and obviously try to market their silencer to stupid people. This "test" is like comparing apples and oranges. All Griffin A.'s intentions notwithstanding, Maxim silencer is the KING!

I do believe the 1920 was more popular on rifles

What did the Maxim suppressor cost in 1920 ???

  • @Reathety

I appreciate the comparison, but the real money is on the maxim 22 riffle silencer. It's a very different design, larger for one, and I'd imagine a lot more quieter.
