    I’m like you, I have the Rev 7 as well but wanted something lightweight to travel to venues around NYC. I sold my DDJ-SX3 and got the Rev 5 (took me 2 months, received mine in December). I’m definitely loving the CDJ size platters, the Stem features and just the battle style of the controller. I hardly used the four channels on my SX3 so the Rev 5 is just perfect.

    Just got my DDJ-REV5 last weekend finally arrived. Did my preorder on 8/15 it arrived 11/4.
    I looooove everything about this unit. I bought it with similar intentions to be a primary/workhorse kinda unit as an upgrade to my DDJ-REV1.
    My flagship unit is the RANE ONE which I’m keeping still (for now) but I too did an unboxing and already recorded my first mix with it. Love the sound card, MAGVEL Fader and layout. The CDJ jogwheels are dope too.
    Can’t wait to actually gig with it once I get a flight case.
    The Rev5 is definitely a winner! 🏆 Excellent work Pioneer DJ.
    Awesome video Jason per usual

    I have been using a pioneer ddj1000 it will be 4years old in February 2024.
    It’s time for a new one and I have been debating on a new dj controller. I was not sure if I wanted the new flx 10 or the rev5.
    Usually anything I see you put behind your brand I adapt. So you helped me make my decision.
    You mentioned you wanted to put a dual mic setup in your case with it. Been thinking of that too for a while.
    I have been wanting to get away from having a 12 channel mixer with me. Less is more is what I want to achieve

      I just got the Rev5 2 weeks ago, dope controller and good for what I need but just know that if you're coming from another dope controller like the 1000SRT this Rev5 is missing some of the big features of that controller, like the built in standalone mixer that you can hook up turntables and CDJs to, the Rev5 doesn''t have that, it also doesn't have the built in pioneer effects the 1000SRT has, you have to use the Serato software effects... it also doesn't have the 4 channel mixer but most DJs don't need 4 channels.
      If you need a new controller more like the 1000SRT then that's the Flex10... but if you don't need a standalone mixer with hookups for other decks or don't need the built in pioneer effects then the Rev5 can be the controller for you!

    i own a Rev5, very happy with it. the stem buttons are great, they get a lot of use. its great not to have to use the EQs as stem control. although, personally I think i would prefer 3 dedicated stem knobs because the buttons can be a bit abrupt at times (cutting in the middle of a word) or a bit too harsh with a 100% kill (soloing the drums for example, doesnt always sound as good as you hoped depending on the song. a knob enables a smoother manegement of this. but i love this controller, and for club use, Im fine with the static platters, i think spinning platters are just a liability, dont need them.

      How do you feel about it's use on software FX? Like does it just overlap on top of the track, making it louder. Or does the software FX blend in the track itself and keeps it at the same volume?

      I use with Virtual dj, there are no volume issues with the FX @@LightestEvening

      Should use the stems fx. Hit shift + sampler pad for stems fx which i use a lot more for mixing. Not a fan of the standard stems buttons either. Vocal out/in or instrum/in & out can be way too abrupt for certain songs. It’s all preference i guess.

    Jason, you’re giving that Rev 5 unboxing box a beating. Take it easy on her.

    Spoke to you a couple months ago about replacing a controller .. I got the Rev 7 which is a go to for me , smaller events that I want to go lightweight I’ve used the Rev 1 , if I need any additional mics I use an external mixer .. the built in stems is nice but for me doesn’t make it a must buy

    I received mine yesterday. I love it so far. There’s nothing like a Pioneer CDJ platter In my opinion. I’m coming from a Rane four. I hate the Rane four platters. I love the fact that it also can work with a Serato and Rekordbox.

    I just got this controller 2 weeks ago and it's very dope, specially the scratch mixer part, now when it comes to the jog wheels they are nice and big but I'm still getting used to the fact that you have to press down on them to stop the music and to reverse, when mixing it's no big deal but when scratching it makes me loose control of the sound like 25% of the time and it's very frustrating, although I've heard that's how CDJs work and that you can get used to it, so hopefully I get used to it because the main reason I chose this controller is because just like the Rev7 it's made for DJ's who are into 2 turntables in battle style position for scratching with a small scratch mixer in between (the way I always had my turntable setup back in the day).

      If you're gonna use the new versions of Serato with Stem separation then the M1, M2 and M3 Macs will work great.
      Now that Serato has stem separation it does require more powerful computers.
      I used to use a 2014 MacBook Air with only 4 gigs of RAM and it ran Serato just fine for many years but as soon as Serato added stems that same laptop would overheat and glitch, then I got myself a 2020 M1 MacBook Air with 8 gigs of RAM and it runs the new Serato with stems with no problem whatsoever!

    I would love moving platters, but my ddj1000srt is fine for now. I have a good controller and a great sound system so my next investment will be lights

    Let me know how you like it. I need to build a small system for events like the River Queen in Brielle , and most of the small controllers seem to be lacking in features.

    REV5 is almost perfect but it's missing on board effects on all inputs. At least give us a send a return to add high end effects devices and direct it to any of the inputs or outputs!!!!

    • @djBroRay
      @djBroRay 10 месяцев назад +2

      There is no controller on the market with a send and return..
      Performance mixers on have send&return.

    How is is compared to the Rev 7 ????

    • @graffmixer
      @graffmixer 8 месяцев назад

      There no comparison. Rev 7 is a beast of a controller. The stems features can be applied to the Rev 7 by MIDI mapping. For me, Rev 5 is a lighter controller.
