I had the privilege to work alongside Gus Dudgeon when he mixed this at The Marquee Studios in London. I was just a fresh-faced lad out of school but I can tell you listening to this on the studio monitors was out of this world. Gus was a genius and I personally rate Blue Moves as one of Elton's very best. The band were absolutely smashing it on this album. One Horse Town is another great track. Roger Pope was superb on the drums. This live is missing the incredible Ray Cooper on the bongo's. What a great guy Ray was. So down to earth. Just strolled into the session, Gus said take a listen and go do your thing. That is exactly what he did. He then took me for a pint and a sandwich in the local pub in Soho. Amazing times.
@@progleader Yes Crazy Water with Rays bongo playing was sensational. He literally improvised that as he went along. Gus just played the track and Ray went in to the studio and laid the bongo down within one or two takes. Came out into the control room and said “ will that do”. Stellar musicians🙏🙏
Yet another of Elton's successful 70's or 80's singles that is largely forgotten and never played on the radio. This along with "Sartorial Eloquence" rank as my fave "forgotten" singles by Elton!
I went to all 4 shows at Hammersmith, and this was the last song, last night, and this was like witnessing god.. I was the clown with the star head band dancing in the stalls at the front if you were there and remember it.... what a run of shows.
Wow! I saw these guys later in the tour when they performed in Memphis, Tennessee in the USA in November of 2005. They were amazing! Wish they played this one for us.
Those are wonderful memories; thank you for sharing. I enjoy hearing about the synthesis of the songs and albums of Elton John. The elements, ideas and talents that go into producing great music is fascinating. Lyrics, instrumentation, sound, mixing, and production are all unique pieces. I’ll never experience any part of this, but I’m fascinated to learn about these processes within the music I love. I’d enjoy hearing more about what “went into” the development of Elton’s music.
First of all,you can't imagine how happy I am to watch a "recent" performance of this! Finally! Also, what happened to the old channel?(The videos on this channel are far better, though!)
Glad you like it!! hahaha, It was removed for an infringement. So glad you like the vids! SO many more coming, I'm sitting my final school exams, so don't have much time to upload atm, but will soon! Is there a specific era you like nickweems24 ?
My favorite live era is the Peactree Road one ,maybe because it is a bit obscure. But yeah,to me there is no doubt that 1993-1998 and 2004-2008 is his best period. Not for any particular reason. It is just the way he carries himself on stage.Undeniably,he was never better live than the original trio shows with Dee and Nigel, but live concert footage from those years is hard to come by.I'd propably pay a hundreds and hundreds of *whatever* to have the 11-17-10 footage.Aaaanyway...Had my-Greek version of- SATs or A-levels or whatever it is in Australia last June.Have fun with that :P

Not to forget Crazy Water. That song just moves like crazy at the end. It puts you on a rolling train.

@@thetenorethe grooves of Shoulder Holster and Between 17&20 are incredible too. Not to mention the instrumental Out of the Blue
Is it okay to be a little jealous? 😉

Blue Moves is is great album. This being a great closer for that album.
I couldn't agree with you more!
I couldn't agree more here! I am still in awe of his singles from the late 70's-early 80's!
the greatest rocker of all time.
Wish Elton played this rollicking tune more often in concert!
This one and Hercules.
Yeah when I first saw him do it at Central Park I was like how'd this one get lost in the shuffle? Just unabashed piano rock!
I went to all 4 shows at Hammersmith, and this was the last song, last night, and this was like witnessing god.. I was the clown with the star head band dancing in the stalls at the front if you were there and remember it.... what a run of shows.
The bass is really kicking it in this.
Bob Birch was a BOSS.
@@colbybelk Considering what he endured physically, it takes his status up a notch for sure.
God I love his vocals here. What a great rocking song, completly underrated.
A great song love to listen to it It's a great rock song and makes you want to dance!
We saw Elton in Chicago 3 weeks ago. Fantastic!
I was there -- Peachtree Road tour at the Carling Apollo!
Great track, up there with the Central Park 1980 version
@Bruh hi bruh
God I love this song, it just makes you wanna live and dance

Loved seeing this live version of "Bite Your Lip". Underrated song, and such a fun one! Pretty tongue in cheek too.
Nobody rocks like Sir Elton 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘

That guy at the end of choir is SO FEELIN IT HAHAHA
Never heard this one until now, it's great!!
Love this song! Always Did!
What a song absolutely love it
Liked Nigel at the end!
Mr. Magic Hands !
I was there! Cool!
Excellent master
A really underplayed gem of a song that finishes off Blue Moves on a real up. I'd loved to have seen him do this at Glastonbury.
I’d love to hear about what went into the process of creating Elton’s song “Ego”.
Had the CD, first time seeing it on video, loved it, thanks a lot!
Shihui Bao Me too.
That was great!!
That blew away the album version.
Fantastic
Hollie I cant wait for this one ! Blue Moves Elton Magic !
Brilliant!
to sem palavras...adoro essa musica...acho q é a melhor do blue moves...
Amazing
YES!!!!!
Hollie Jo Wheeler hun, this is one of my favorites from the Blue Moves Album ! its the Mint copy I gave you and Robert !
I guess you meant 2014 going by Elton's age in the video.
This man knows how to rock. :)
Wombat & Charlene No its 2004 from the Peachtree Road Tour.
It was much earlier than 2014. Guy Babalon and
Bob Birch were alive and in their prime and Nigel still had brown hair!

Why didn’t Elton put on his Donald Duck costume lol
Haha yes would be so fun!
Everybody major like stronger in stranger with finger
Hard to beat the original version
Those small hands stretched as far as he can and his small finger on the left hand misses the key a couple of times.
This should replace Croc Rock in the Farewell tour. Show all the fans in costumes still
Move that muscle and shake that fat........!
Top Dog Top Cat ! Move that Muscle Shake that Fat !
