What I love about this song is that all four Beatles are on the track, maybe not the way you expect, but at the end of their career as a band, they are all on their final #1 song.
52 years ago. Wow. I'm 54 in the summer. They were still playing this one, Hey Jude, and Here Comes The Sun amd Harrison's My Sweet Lord, and Get Back all the time in my very early childhood as even top ten popular stations played songs for years and years back then. I remember the songs vividly but not sure if I knew who sang them (though I remember that I did know who the Stones and Mick Jagger was when I was 4 in 1972). But believe it or not, and I know I'm going to get a backlash on this from everyone, that there was a period in the mid to late 70s to just before when Lennon died that they weren't played all that much on the radio, if at all (as classic rock and oldies stations started popping up more around 80-83). Then from December of 80 on, after he passed, the radio hasn't stopped playing them. Paul McCartney and the Wings of course were played constantly throughout the 70s though. Their songs remind me of my childhood.
